You gotta give it up for a guy that has been on the top for decades and has dabbled in various types of music, and mastered hard rock.. He was THE first real front man of hard rock! What a stud Robert Plant is!
Man oh man...My respect for this man deepens with every clip I watch. I've spent many hours in a RUclips vortex, watching clips about him, fascinated every time. It takes guts to break the mold of the whole "cock rock" thing (which, btw...was brilliant), and then go explore the musical unknown, bold and unafraid every time. So much raw musical curiosity inside of him. So much integrity. So much artistry. I'm completely inspired by him.
What an incredibly eloquent man Plant has matured into in his old age. There's a reason they framed this documentary around "his own words" and that is because he gives such a powerfully illuminating oral history of the amazing era he was a part of as well as conveying the phases of his own reinvention. It's not some self aggrandizing biography. He's quite a humble observer of his life and is a man with a very deep soul. There's many artists that I respect, but not so many I like. I like Plant
So glad I found this interview---I've loved Robert Plant since I can remember. And this just makes me love a little more. He truly loves the music and creating something new from all the old. That's the way it oughta be. :)
This was the video series I always wanted to see. When and if an artist is capable of intelligent conversation it opens up a portal of insight into the person he/she is. Robert Plant has always been one of my favorite singers. It's great to see he wants to reach beyond what he has already done and risk the legend status by laying it all on the line. Courage and self confidence is evident here. The love of music is what spurs Plant on. He may not hit the same notes but he still touches the soul.
I was always under the impression that Robert Plant was just a self-serving rock god. How wonderful that I was proven wrong. He's a very talented and extremely nice person. He's very intelligent and extremely talented!
I am one of the luckiest guys to have see Led Zeppelin 4 time in my life. I have seen every concert Robert has done pretty much. As a person he is someone I admire. Genuine and a great human being. Love you Robert. I'm 70
Knebworth ( second weekend ) August 1979 unforgettable amazing time for my 16 year old self, last UK performance full original band, incredible experience. Also 2 years ago walking down the street in Salford UK literally bumped into Mr Plant, seemed familiar, friendly nod, said "good evening" to my wife & on his way , it took me a minute or so to realise who it was, seemed like a decent bloke who at the time was walking with the aid of a walking stick
Grew up in the heart of the Appalachians, next to classic rock, mountain music is closest to my heart. Gives you a certain feeling you can’t get anywhere else.
I watched all four parts. Great documentary and it really illustrates just how diverse and creative Plants talents are. Thankfully Jimmy heard him sing or who knows if he would have ever have had the platform to achieve so much. He must is a huge inspiration to so many singers and songwriters. Ultimately he should be an inspiration to everyone...do what you want and to hell with those who try to typecast you.
I'd like to see Zeppelin as much as anyone but I understand why he doesn't want to do it. Because he's already done it several times over and his voice may not be up to it for a whole tour. He keeps trying to forge ahead and go to new places musically. I admire him for that.
What a genuine guy. Imagine, being a "rock god" as it were, the front man of the biggest band and yet still being a lover of music and all you can get. To us its Led Zeppelin first and anything else second, to him its music first. interesting. Great doco.
This has been very entertaining. Robert Plant is a wonderful artist, I think it is great that he ventures out and try's new things. He is so spot on~~How many Me's are there?
Like a good song, he leaves you wanting more. The intriguing pull of the enigma. Sharp contrast with today's hype and overexposure of "stars". Perhaps that's the ultimate showmanship. Like he said, the public's perception is a million miles from the real person.
I'm glad he discovered Southern music. We have a lot of musicians in the South. We're a very musical people. I think it comes from Scots, Irish and English immigrants merging, since most people like me can trace their roots to one of those three countries. I hope he continues to stick around down here, and maybe giving others ideas on how to build on Southern music. I am using the term "southern music" to encompass the entire catalog from Blues to Country, to Bluegrass and Jazz.
i think Plant is the most simple man round the earth, i mean he is the God of Rock, he used to sing along the greatest rock band, he was the best friend of the best drummer of all the times Bonzo and Plant keeps himself humble and nice, kudos for him, a great vocalist, great musician and a admirable man
Plant is as much a student as he is a teacher and that's what makes him so interesting. He never wants to stop learning and playing new music. Even admitting that Allison Kraus had to be patient with him because he wasn't used to singing with anyone else. I wonder how he felt about the collaboration between Page and David Coverdale and if he felt that was Page's way of replacing him, and Coverdale basically reincarnating himself to look similar to Robert?
Like Dr. Seuss says ... oh the places we will go. I would love to see a map of the world, and a line drawn for every place Led Zeppelin and Robert Plant has been. What a site that would be! Wow!
That was a most pleasant surprise of a watch indeed. Good man, Robert. I liked his comment about politicians: "Oh, don't talk about that lot, Christ!"(8:05)
Robert Plant Rock GOD, Yes, but I think Musician's GOD seems more appropriate! I am so Thankful to have been allowed to follow his Incredible Journey. Thank You Robert Plant, for always moving Forward. For not allowing Grass To Grow Under Your Feet. I anxiously await our next adventure ✌️💞🎶🙏
As a 40 year Led Zeppelin fan, it occurs to me that Roberet doesn't really appreciate why people won't let him forget Led Zeppelin. Sure, it's that they were the band for the ages. But it's also that he lost his voice a long time ago. What he produces now is admirable, and filled with substance. But his voice has fallen off to an anemic whine. It's not that it's not Zeppelin; it's that he hasn't been able to really sing in at least 25 years.
I am an enormous fan of Robert, i feel though sometimes that hes a little too dismissive of the band that was his greatest acheivement and the thing that skyrocketed him to the top. I enjoy nearly anything he does but i feel like he looks at zeppelin almost with contempt in ways.
If you've got a drink in your hand, raise it and say "Robert fuckin' Plant!" and while yer at it' raise it again and say "Alison fuckin' Krauss!" CAN I GET A WITNESS?
Not so imo, Robert was already known by Tim Reid and others, JPJ was a well known London sessions man and arranger, John Bonham was already in a band. There is ample reason to believe they would thrive in music. Jimmy had a vision of where he wanted to take the blues, Rock n Roll, music in general. He created what turned out to be the greatest band in rock. I saw them in 1977 at the Myriad. Best show ever at the Myriad ( Prairie Surf Studios now). However, I saw many great bands and shows there like the Who, Jeff Beck (Civic Center Blow by Blow), Yes, Rush, Supertramp etc... They were humble, fun, powerful. Energy filled the Myriad. See my review of their 1977 Apr 03 show on Led Zeppelin's website. The title was Best Show Ever.
Robert Plant- the man is talent, personified!!
You gotta give it up for a guy that has been on the top for decades and has dabbled in various types of music, and mastered hard rock.. He was THE first real front man of hard rock! What a stud Robert Plant is!
I see a tremendous amount of dignity and integrity in this guy. Love you Robert!

Here it is 2019.. Have watched many of Robert’s interviews & his musical quest is wonderful ❣️ I know Bonzo smiling down 💫💫

He is a shag bandit, a man whore. He'll tell you he's in love with you, then leave in the middle of the night. He is a lech.
I am one of the luckiest guys to have see Led Zeppelin 4 time in my life. I have seen every concert Robert has done pretty much. As a person he is someone I admire. Genuine and a great human being. Love you Robert. I'm 70
came along a little bit after so I'm jealous of your opportunities to see them live, either way, as Jack Black said, best band ever!

Great doco!! Robert plant is a rarity in music in this day and age, one of those people who just get how it all works and what its all about.
Grew up in the heart of the Appalachians, next to classic rock, mountain music is closest to my heart. Gives you a certain feeling you can’t get anywhere else.
Wow! Excellent piece that make me think quite differently. It's great to see him continuing his career. I am surprised this has not had more views
He hasn't aged at all in 12 years. Looks and sounds amazing.
Well done and thanks for uploading. Robert Plant is a great musician who continues to grow and entertain. He's a pretty decent raconteur!

"How many me(s) are there?" => One Robert, one... you are truly unique
thank you Robert, for sharing in such a candid, authentic way that helps us all enjoy a deeper appreciation and understanding.
This has been very entertaining. Robert Plant is a wonderful artist, I think it is great that he ventures out and try's new things. He is so spot on~~How many Me's are there?
I have the Allison & Robert cd it's good! They harmonize well together.hes still so humble after all this fame!!!
One of my first musical true loves. Forever and always.
What is he sexy 😋
plant is just on a level that very few reach.
Like a good song, he leaves you wanting more. The intriguing pull of the enigma. Sharp contrast with today's hype and overexposure of "stars". Perhaps that's the ultimate showmanship. Like he said, the public's perception is a million miles from the real person.
Whoever had the idea to edit the different "aaahhh ahhh"s of black dog together to showcase his changes over time was a genius.
I love Led Zeppelin's music ... definitely the best of inspiration and energy, but I'm glad to know that there is more to the guys than the 70s image.
I'm glad he discovered Southern music. We have a lot of musicians in the South. We're a very musical people. I think it comes from Scots, Irish and English immigrants merging, since most people like me can trace their roots to one of those three countries.

rodentcafeteria Plant refers to him as “David Coverversion” lmfao 😂👍🏻

I love his music, and I love is sideburns when he was younger❤
He has a lot of integrity.
This might be the best comment on RUclips. Cheers.
That was incredible!
this doc is awesome dang it!!!

Oh Robert, love you to bits and have done for 40 years.
Authentic and interesting man.
Wow!! Thank you for sharing ~ awwww aawww awwww ahhhh ;)

What a load of shite. You obviously haven't seen him live recently.
@@joeyhuebner10 I wrote that eight years ago. You think he's gotten better since then, in his 70s? You must be high.
I am an enormous fan of Robert, i feel though sometimes that hes a little too dismissive of the band that was his greatest acheivement and the thing that skyrocketed him to the top. I enjoy nearly anything he does but i feel like he looks at zeppelin almost with contempt in ways.
and i love your screen name. can tell you're a true fan.
Utter legend
spot on!
Robert Plant should play a fucking cowboy, man. He really fucking pulls off that dialect, and he's got the look for it.
Are we ready for another turn of a leaf one more 2 3 more rebirths..i raise my glass! Yes please!
There is only one Robert Plant.
05.37 love that bit
How did he gobble grammies with Alison Krauss and not with his other stuff?
If you've got a drink in your hand, raise it and say "Robert fuckin' Plant!" and while yer at it' raise it again and say "Alison fuckin' Krauss!" CAN I GET A WITNESS?
He may be an old Hippie but I hope he's not sad.
@05.37 love that bit
raising sand is a fucking great album
Quand sera t'il possible de l'avoir sous titré en français ???? (When it will be possible to have a french text under ???) Merci
Does anybody know what the background music is at 11:45-12:25? That guitar is beautiful-sounding.
Tangerine, by Led Zeppelin. Written by Jimmy Page.
He won't do it without Bonzo. Bohnham was his friend, and and itegral part of the band. There's no reason for him to do it now.
Niccccccce.....
you have bewitched me...body and soul and I love...love...love you
wink wink...nudge nudge
06:46 ohhhh shit...the hippy Cypress Hill
If only he could talk himself to tour with Led Zeppelin!!!
Lemon squeezin' in Louisiana
OMG
If it wasn’t for Zep - RP would have been a complete unknown - same with JPJ and JB - only one who would have been world famous without Zep is Jimmy 🎸
Not so imo, Robert was already known by Tim Reid and others, JPJ was a well known London sessions man and arranger, John Bonham was already in a band. There is ample reason to believe they would thrive in music. Jimmy had a vision of where he wanted to take the blues, Rock n Roll, music in general. hmmm not sure about robert..think hes been missing since 1973 ish...seems to be doing it backwards...from originality to session musician..
I guess Neil Young was wrong, it's not better to burn out than to fade away. You can age like a plant.
13:04 -- It was just cruel for them to keep that in there, haha.
Gillian Welch and Robert might have been even better. just sayin ;)
