I followed this show sporadically when it first aired, but self-isolation lead me to binge all the seasons of this show, and it was a lot of silly fun! I recommend it during these strange and stressful times!
@@karensheline5183 my late stepfather never saw any episodes untill the early 2000s when the series was on reruns!he really liked it!great cast and funny stories!
@@JazzFlop212 I never searched what they won so maybe I'm wrong, but what I mean is when you look at shows that aired at the time and see how much praise it gets now I feel that this show is underrated, look at friends for example, it's so overrated, it's a good show but it's overrated.
I understand what you mean. It was popular and critically acclaimed at the time, but is it listed as one of those ‘of all time’ shows, like mary tyler more? I hope so, because it deserves it.
It must be because I was looking for something to watch and this was on. Joseph Gordon Levitt is on this show with a lot of seasons and I've never even heard of it....
I've only ever watched an episode of this show (this was pre-youtube) and I never realized that John lithgow is so funny (he was always typecasted as a villain). In this episode he had a doppleganger who trapped him inside an invisible cage. After moving his hands on the walls of the invisible cage, he muttered 'oh my God, I turned into a mime". I'll never forget that scene and that line 20 years after.
You've gotta watch the show Trial By Fire: he was on the whole first season, and the show was absolutely prefect, it was so funny, there were times I could barely breathe because I couldn't stop laughing. The second season starred Kristen Chenoweth, and was also great. It was definitely one of the better sitcoms, I hope you give it a try, it was great!
Yes he(Joseph Gordon Levitt) mentions that somewhere😂.exactly what you said,&the fact that they kept it.i think that kinda made him sad🤔,that he didn't do it perfectly n they showed it..but I guess he wasn't taking the whole thing THAT seriously😊.he is still happy about it&said he liked the scene anyway
How could they not have the scene where Dick tries to impress Mary by squeaking around in his new leather trousers? It was one of the most hilarious scenes ever! 😊
I enjoyed that trip down Memory Lane very much! That show was brilliant. Every episode had me in tears of laughter. I miss it! Thank you for this. I needed a good laugh today 😂
Just got done watching the entire series on ROKU ... what a great show. I actually got a little choked up during the finale (I'd read about how it was for the actors on set that day). Lots of talk about how NBC disrespected this great show by moving it to 15 different time slots during the 6 years it was on. NBC has a track record of not recognizing good shows ... they did the same thing with Star Trek (Original) back in the 60's, moving to various time slots, ending up with 10pm on Friday night .. when all the fans were out for the evening. Glad this is still available for fans to watch .. so many great moments!
Living in SoCal, I regret not going to a live taping of this show back in the day. But back in 2013 I did go to a couple tapings of The Exes. I got to meet Kristen Johnston and Wayne Knight. Kristen Johnston was very nice.
Others here have said it was in the script, but that they just couldn’t get through any of the takes without one or the other of them cracking up, so they just went with it.
Turns out French Stewart's spitting scene was unrehearsed and spontaneous. Also Tommy's laugh was a blooper, but the director decided to leave it in the final cut.
Fabulous show. Typically, we here in the UK cannot buy the complete DVD set of this gem. Consumers in Britain are woefully served by business in general.
Idk if anyone else got the terms of endearment reference when dick was shouting to give his chipmunk the pain shot, Shirley McClain screamed for the nurses to give her daughter the pain shot when she was dying of cancer
I was watching _the crown_ (my wife was, actually) and I've seen this actor who plays Churchull and remembered this show. I'm deeply distressed about so much time having passed, yet, I'm pleased to see this again.
This show was so off the wall.....absolutely hilarious.

@Jacob Wilkes you mean both shows are from terry and bonnie turner
I get the feeling the entire cast had a ball making this.
A lot of that they were doing were games from improv classes
So much fun
I bet they did
except those that had to clean up afterwards.
I would have!
Kristen Johnston said in a dvd interview the show was mostly John Lithgow and they just followed his hilarious lead.
The Baby Feeding Scene STILL makes me laugh so hard it brings tears to my eyes! Funniest Show EVER!
French Stewart was hilarious on this show.
and Joseph Gordon-Levitt broke character over French's reaction ha ha
Won't find that on TV anymore, this is simply amazing!
YES! When Harry spat at the baby, I was crying from laughing. I love Harry Solomon and French Stewart. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@maxnoerenberg6370 That's what I noticed! he couldn't keep it inside. It makes it additionaly funny since it made to final cut.

No doubt. When Harry spat at the baby, I cried with laughter. It is still funny to this day. Man, I miss 3rd Rock.
Gawd our family loved that show ...laughed to tears ...it is still very funny today !
Aww, must be nice. My family hated it, i was the only one who liked it lol!
