Hi I'm Wendy a resin artist and crafter.
In this video I show you how I used the silicone inlays sheets I made and also tell you how to make them.
They are simple to make, affordable and can be used over and over again.
It is definitely the easiest way to make inlays sheets i've found.
I am using Let'sResin silicone, intense chameleon mica pigments and resin.
If you have any comments or just want to ask questions please use the comment section below and I will get back to you.
I hope you enjoy the video.
Thanks for watching

Absolutely STUNNING STUNNING STUNNING GAME CHANGING !!!! Really fantastic ... I love mine .. so happy I bought the Steam Punk one and its just a WOWWWWWWW you're a genius 😍😍😍 I hope whoever does this on their channel gives you credit 🙌🙌❤️❤️
😂😂 well you never know 😂😂 thank you so much Claire❤️❤️ I really hope people have fun with this because it’s definitely a lot of fun 😀😀 I’m so looking forward to seeing your pieces too 👍💜
Yes! If I do this on my upcoming channel I definitely will credit Wendy. 😁
Wow 👌 silicone sheets for inlay are so awesome. Do you show how to make them in any of your videos? I would love to see it. Could you send the link ? Sorry. I just saw the whole video. Tons of thanks!!! Beautiful
You are very welcome Manisha 😀😀💜👍
I wish I could give this more than one thumbs up! All the pieces are gorgeous but that TRAY IS STUNNING!
Thank you so much Erin 😀😀😀 I have been keeping this to myself for a few weeks and I’m so glad it’s out now 😂😂😂
Love the look, especially the trinket tray. Just ordered some sheets from you. After you do the first mica painting youuse some sort of tape to remove the mica from the raised design. What type of tape please?
sorry for the late reply . You can use packing tape or sellotape. it doesn't really matter what type it is as long as its sticky enough to grip the mica . Hope that helps 💜
Wendy, you clever girl. You never cease to amaze me with your ingenuity! These are awesome, thank you for sharing your talent. 🥰🥰
Thank you so much Patricia 😀😀you always watch and comment and have been with me from the start 😀😀😀 thanks so much for supporting me ❤️❤️🌹🌹
I love this! Thank you! I just made 16 inlays using embossing folders after watching your video. They turned out great!! Thank you!
Now if I could just get hold of the pretty lady inlays you've done. Unfortunately, I'm in the USA and you don't ship there. :-(
Aww man 😀😀 I’m so happy for you getting busy with silicone 😀😀💜 have lots of fun 😀💜
Absolutely amazing love love love these they are such a game changer in the world of inlays, your ingenuity and creativity blow me away every week you are so clever and these are awesome, I hope you get lots of orders for them as they are beautiful, I will be ordering straight away so carnt wait to play with them , Wendy you are a angel for showing us how you make these but I'd rather buy them from you then risk making a mess so tfs so much
Aww thank you so much 🌹❤️that is so very sweet of you 😀😀 I will definitely put your order up first 😂😂
I look forward in seeing what people make with these inlays 😀😀👍💜
OMG! This video definitely earns a like and a subscription from me. This is like you said a game changer. Thank you for sharing your ideas with us I am definitely going to try this. Off to Amazon or Temu to do some shopping. Have a wonderful day. Mary Katherine from Canada
Thank you so much Mary and welcome to my little channel 😀😀
Happy shopping and have fun 😀💜👍
Just wondered what would happen if you used the plastic embossing mold straight in to your mold. Would it be removable when finished? TIA.
Yes but it’s difficult to get off as I did try it and ruin a couple of bits getting it off 😳😳 😂😂💜
Still can't work out what is the purple looking tape being used at 8mins- 40secs? Driving me crazy. lol.
It’s just purple packing tape. Normal tape but in purple colour 😀😀 hope that helps 💜
OMG!!!! Gorgeous….any way of doing these holographic? Happy Pouring
Oo now that’s something to think about 🤔🤔🤔🤔 you never know 😀😀
Thanks Dawn 👍💜
Wendy i did want to mention I do not sell or make videos.. How can I show you pics if I make something that you inspired me to create??? hugs Sheryl 💙🎨💙
You can always find me on Facebook or Instagram. I would love to see your creativity and failing that you could email me 😀😀👍💜
I followed the US link & then I replaced plastic with silicone & I was able to find some that are already made from silicone.
I'm not sure if they'd work the same though or if 8t would come out differently. I'd love to see you try out some.
I also found some delicate butterfly & leaf ones that might work too.
The silicone moulds for fondant will be small. The sheets I’ve made are really big.
I have seen the silicone moulds you refer to. Be aware not only are they small, most are matt finish and some that are made for polymer clay will stick to resin as I’ve tried and multitude of moulds over time.
My biggest annoyance is the ‘large’ ones are not large at all and they cost a fortune.
Let me know if you find any you like though 👍 I would be interested to know 😀😀💜👍
Does the embossing folders 4x6 works as well to make silicone sheets? Since TEMU sells embossing folders. Please let me know.
They do work but the impression is not great.
ruclips.net/video/2_M9EFuB6FI/видео.html
This might help 😀💜
Soooo….just a thought: perhaps the thicker inlays that you made can be used at the bottom of a pyramid? I would be afraid of the thinner inlays sinking into the resin and not dislodging after curing.
With anything you lay on top of resin there is a bigger chance of catching air and bubbles. It would be a hard task to get rid of all the air in the details before laying it on top of resin. But it is definitely possible 😀💜👍
i've used this type of product in the thin plastic as a tool to use to make textures on polymer clay. that was how it was pictured on packaging, so that might help your search! i watch both you and claire all the time and i love you both. such nice girls!
Thank you Kathleen 😀😀😀 I will search for that definitely but as I remember they were quite small when I was using polymer clay. And the silicone ones were really expensive 😞😳
But that was a few years ago 😂😂
@@Toonpish i have to admit it has to be 30yrs since i used them-lol!
Time does fly 😂😂
Thank you for this vlog. I have been trying to make simple silicone moulds without much success. New follower here.
Hi Mike and Donna 👋👋👋 welcome to my little channel 😀 so glad you found the video helpful 😀💜👍
Hi Wendy, I totally 200% agree with Claire, from Claire’s crafty corner she has said it all 🤗 The only thing left for me to say is WOW WOW WOW thank you so so much for sharing 🥰🤗💝👍😀
Thank you so very much Linda 😀😀😀 I’m really happy people are watching this so they can have more fun 😀😀💜👍
Very very cool. Just discovered you and looking forward to bingeing on your vids. 😃🙃😉
Hi Jo and welcome to my little channel 😀😀 I hope you enjoy your binge 😀😀💜👍
I’m thinking of a way to use some steampunk pieces to make the silicone & then make an embossing envelope using resin on the silicone.
Taking the process backwards I guess
That sounds very interesting 😀😀 have fun with it 😀😀 thanks so much for sharing 👍💜
WOW!!! Absolutely stunningly gorgeous Wendy. Thank you so kindly for sharing how you made the insert sheets. Love it. Take care .xoxo
Thank you so much Dale 😀😀😀 it was a lot of fun 😀 and I’m glad you enjoyed it 💜👍
wow that tray is gorgeous! wonder if it would work with embossing folders that I have from my card making days, they too would have an emboss and deboss side. I can feel a silicone day coming on 🤣
Oh have fun with it 😀😀😀
A lovely lady is sending me some to try as I actually don’t have any 😂😂
Can only try and see 😀😀
Wendy where did U get the one for the tray mold? Im 74 yrs old and I want to try that one, thank U, i love watching U workiñg
I think that one came from Ali express. The link is in the description box below the video 😀💜
Gorgeous pieces 😍😍 Could the silicone inlays you have be used in Jesmonite also?
Yes they can 😀😀💜👍
Is this how you make holographic inlays? I love how informative you are
Pretty much yes 😀😀😀 thank you Amy 😀💜
Could you put a thin layer of glue around the stencil then press down the old dried glue that you took off your last stencil. I think it should work therefore saving you some glue
Great idea 👍💜😀
Absolutely awesome Wendy! Can you tell me please who makes the chameleon powder forest king, couldn't find it in your description thanks 😃
Yes it’s Alexis but I can’t find the link.
They sell them on USA Amazon.
I will try and find the link.
They are a company based in Ukraine
😀
@@Toonpish ah thank you so much Wendy, diny worry about the link I can look up Alexis, thanks again! 😃
I really luv this stuff but don't know where to began plz help what so I buy to start !!
Is it resin you need help with or silicone?🤔🤔🤔
Your tray is absolutely gorgeous, Wendy! Love the colours, too! Thanks for showing how you created it and how to make the inlay sheets. Much appreciated. 😯😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you so very much Diana 😀😀💜👍 so glad you enjoyed it 👍💜
Those are amazing! I absolutely love how they all turned out. I think the tray is my favorite piece ❤ I can't wait to see what you do with the turtle one! Do you make your own druzy inserts and "clusters" too? Would love to see a video on how to do that 😉 Much love ❤
Sadly no I don’t 😞 but I have made a cluster from glass. I’ll link the video for you.

Thanks Chrissy 👍💜
I was going to ask the same about druzys!

She makes amazing druzzies
Ohhhhh man I love it so glad you did this video love it taught me so much that I always wondered about but didn’t dare try it thank you so much
Thank you so much Vickie 😀😀 it’s great to know it’s helpful 😀💜👍
Love, love, love this!! Thank you so much for sharing the how-to. Can’t wait to try doing this…need to search those sheets!
Links below the video to the ones I have 😀😀 glad you are inspired 😀😀 have fun 👍💜
Awesome video, thanks for sharing your inspiration.
You are very welcome Christine 😀😀💜👍
Hi I make my inlays like this and I have a way to make more patterns sheets to make the inlays. I want to suggest my method to you. If you are interested.
Email me 😀😀 always interested in different ideas 😀😀💜 thanks so much 👍💜
Wendy.....Thank You. I bought a few of those embossing or fondant sheets. Now I can not wait to try them out. I am so Grateful to you for the artistic things you create. Its fun watching you do this. You are a Blessing to my crafting experience. You make my brain think out of the box. I do love the doodling or coloring of mica powders. Its so fun and relaxing plus if you make a mistake you can clean it off and start again. Sweetheart you have a wonderful day..Thanks again..hugs Sheryl from Indiana 💙🎨💙
Thank you so much Sheryl 😀😀😀 I hope you have lots of fun and enjoy your own homemade inlays 😀😀😀
I just had an epiphany…. You used a plastic fondant sheet to make those inlays…. What about using STENCIL SHEETS??? I have a gazillion stencil sheets that I think could be used to make some freaking awesome inlays… I just have one question… I know how to make the inlays work to make a recess in the resin… but how would you make them so that the resin isn’t recessed, but raised? Am I making sense?
Yeah you turn the sheet over and cast the other side with silicone.
Stencils won’t work because they are all holes. But glad you are thinking 😀😀💜👍
@@Toonpish OK, I do not understand why you think it wouldn’t work. Because isn’t it the same thing as using that fondant sheet that you used? You’re basically just making a silicone stencil that you would lay down on your silicone…. isn’t that basically like the same thing? I have a reusable putty type material that I can use to make a temporary mold out of ….so what I think I will do is I will take that and press it down into the stencil and see what happens after I pull it out and then try to use it in another silicone mold. I will let you know if it works…
Let me know 😀😀😀
I’m watching this in awe. Can you use the silicon mat with polymer clay?
Yes you can 😀😀😀
And probably other mediums too like jesmonite
Hi Wendy this is awesome and thank you so much for showing how to make these. Could you please tell me how much epoxy resin is measured for the oval trinket tray mold? Thank you so much for helping me
Hi Bev .. if memory serves its around 4 ounces but if you want to check .. fill any mould with rice and measure the rice to get the volume 👍
@@Toonpish ❤️ awesome thank you so much. Have a awesome day and weekend coming up
Beautiful, glad I stumbled upon you, thank you
Hi Leona 👋👋 thanks for joining my little channel 😀
Absolutely amazing interesting video. Love your designs. I will have a look this way for embossing sheets and let you know. I got a lot out if it and am inspired and will check out your website. ❤️❤️. Happy crafting.
Thank you so very much Sharon 😀😀 I hope you find what you are looking for and would definitely love to see what you create 😀😀💜👍
These are gorgeous. I've lots of embossing folders A5 size. Do you think these could be used? If so, I could send you some as I have some duplicates.
Yes please Linda 😀😀 email me and I’ll send you my address 💜 thank you so much.
I haven’t tried embossing sheets but I think they will work 👍💜
Wendy, you gave Claire 2 female head inlays, do you have those for sale?
Those female heads were not from me honey. And they were beautiful. I think Claire has the place linked below her video 😀😀👍💜
Another fun, entertaining, cool looking, and very helpful video. Thank you Wendy. Your videos are ALWAYS a must watch for me. Even if it's something I might not be interested in, I usually get another idea from them, or just enjoy watching. Thanks!
That’s fantastic Ellis 😀😀😀 I’m so happy you enjoy watching 😀
Thank you so much for your kind words 💜💜💜💜🌹
Brilliantly gorgeous . What are the dimentions of the mats that you sell ?
Roughly 24cm x 17cm and about 3 mil thick.
It’s the largest ones I’ve found 😀😀👍💜
Hope this helps Deena 👍💜
Are you related to Kitboga? You look similar, like relatives!
No 🤔🤔🤔 I don’t know who that is sorry 😳
But beautiful I expect 😂😂😂
Thanks Josie 🌹
lovely, I think the patterns would look great in large earrings also, bookmarkers. etc...
Oh yes they definitely would 😀😀💜👍
Love it. Do you know if you can back fill a holographic inlay?
No you can’t as it will make the pattern disappear sadly 😀
Hey, I know you said those plastic embossing cake thingies are hard to find. Steve McDonald used embossing folders. They are smaller, so you won't get as large if a sheet, but it may open up some options for you design-wise
I have had a few people say about them and one very kind lady is sending me some to try out.
I’ve never done card making so not had any reason to buy them.
But I do understand they are smaller.
We will see 😀😀
Thank you so much Jodi 👍💜
@@Toonpish one thing you might have fun with is that they are not just a repetitive pattern, but some are like a little "scene".
I think that for someone like you who enjoys "repurposing" craft implements, you might want to check out card making supplies and videos - there is a lot of potential. I'm still at the point of resining where I'm at struggling with basics, but I think that most resin makers I watch sort of have dabbled on the sidelines of card tools, but not yet truly blended the two.
I think how a lot of cardmakers make backgrounds for cards, especially layered bgs, would be cool for trays and coasters.
Anyways, I ramble. I bet your technique would be awesome with some iridescent film behind like your bears and eggs too!
I really loved this video - especially what you did with the mugs. Genius.
Thank you so much Jodi 😀😀 I’m always on the lookout for new things to try 😀😀👍💜
Gorgeous! That glitter is hypnotic. I hope I can get it in the U S.
It’s beautiful 😀😀 it is available worldwide 😀😀💜
I was wondering instead of wasting the hot glue around the edge could you add a line of hot glue and add the used on top of the new?
You can as long as you get a good seal which is harder than you think 😀😀💜👍
Honestly Wendy, you have to stop making me buy things from Ali Express! 😂😂😂
😂😂😂 the waiting times are annoying 😂😂
😳😳
@@Toonpish Not so bad when it’s 15 day shipping. 😂
True 😂😂
These are stunning! Love them! ❤️
Thank you Daniel 😀😀 that’s very kind of you 💜👍

Hi Miley 👋👋 welcome back 👍😀💜
Those are beautiful, now to find some here in San Antonio TX.
Good luck with your hunt 😀😀💜👍
love the tray. ❤ a must try technique as ive only made moulds.

Hi wendy I'm a new subscriber and really enjoying watching...I'm after some advice...im looking for gear stick toppers...not sure if that's what they are called...can u point me in the right direction please...x
If you mean a mould to make a gear stick top piece 🤔 I have never seen one sadly. I have seen turners make them from blocks of cast resin however, but not a mould for it.
I’m sure you would be able to adapt other moulds though and I’ll link a video with moulds that I think would work. Hope it helps 😀💜
ruclips.net/video/1r2wd414PY0/видео.html
@@Toonpish thank you so much I will take a look...mmm I thought about adapting other moulds but no idea how to attach the knob to the gear stick...lol if u see what I mean.x
Yes I do
You need to drill a hole in the resin and glue in a inward screw piece that is the correct size for the gear leaver you need to screw it on.
I don’t know what that pieces name is so the technical term for that inward screw piece needs to be right.
Sorry I’m not very good with names 😢
@@Toonpish thank you sooo much for taking time out to reply...much appreciated.x
Absolutely amazing!! You are so encouraging Wendy!! Thank you so much. ❤
Glad you enjoyed it Regina 😀😀 go have some crafting fun 😀😀👍💜
Do you put the patterns on the mat with hot glue if you don't have one of those pattern sheets
You could do 😀😀 sounds like a good plan to me 😀💜
I just got an embossing piece for fondant last week thinking I could do something with it and then you post the solution! Thank you! Could use silicone caulk instead of hot glue to seal it? It does take longer to dry than hot glue but I think it'll be cheaper if making a bunch of them.
I use 2.5 sticks of glue to secure the plastic and give an edge. Which costs 45 pence and I make around 2-3 sheets before I take it off.
I don’t know how much the silicone caulk costs but I do know it smells terrible and takes ages to go hard.
Yes I could use it 😀😀 but I think the cons outweigh the pros. 😳
I really appreciate you taking the time to write this though 😀😀 we all need to communicate and share ideas in my opinion 😀😀💜👍
@@Toonpish I didn't even think about the smell as I was thinkingin my head about using regular caulk (but typed silicone caulk). Regular caulk doesn't smell too much. Now you have me curious! 😅😅 As soon as I recover from this car accident, I may need to test it out. If I do, I'll let you know the results!
Fantastic 😀😀 get well soon as I want to know 😂😂
Can you do this with using UV resin, instead of resin?
If the silicone is clear so that the light can pass through it yes 😀😀💜👍
Fantastic idea looking fabulous. Have you tried ebay, shein or hobbycraft for the sheets?
Hobbycraft was not much good, never heard of Shein and ebay wasn’t any good, but I have a friend searching for more and I don’t give up easily 😂😂
Thank you Vicky 😀😀👍💜
@@Toonpish shein is the uks equivalent I guess to Temu.
🤔🤔 I will check it out 😀😀💜
I wonder if you could use embossing folders to do this.
I would imagine so but I don’t have any to try it out on 😂😂 I will get some 👍💜

Hi Betina 😀😀 welcome to my little channel 😀💜👍
I love the creativity - I couldn't find anything in the cooking section but did find some Embossing Folder Transparent Plastic Plates for scrapbooking. I might have to get one just to see if they can be used to make the silicon templates - and thank you so much for explaining the process. BTW love to try new things, but usually only once as I'm basically too lazy but love the science behind how things are made! And the wonderful people like yourself for showing others how to. Love to learn new things, so thank you. (Oh and the plates come in a folder arrangement so you'd actually get a front side and the indented side in the same set - sorry for the vagueness of that statement!).
I understand completely 😀😀 thank you Olive 👍 I don’t have any embossing plates myself but a couple of very nice subscribers are sending me some to try out also 😀😀
They will be smaller and I think the pattern will be less pronounced but they should work 😀😀
Hope you have fun 👍💜

Hi Wendy, I find you can find many more plastic embossing sheets if you search for Cuttlebug Embossing folders.. they are smallish but plenty big enough for Coasters and a tray the size you made in this tute xxx ❤
Thank you so much Mandy 😀😀💜
Hi, I just found your channel. Did you know that you can get embossing folders for cardmaking? These are just the same as the texture sheets, but a slightly thicker plastic, but would still do the job.
I have used them. They are okay if the pattern is deep enough. So many are shallow.
And most of them are really small.
But I like your thinking 👍😀💜
Thank you for sharing this video your art work.
It’s beautiful work 👌👌🌹🌹❤️
Thank you so much Saras 😀😀💜👍
I've been subscribed to your channel for a few days now, having only found you while watching Daniel Cooper, and I love the work you do. I even went and have ordered some stuff from your website and although I would love to get more, that will have to wait until the finances are a bit better. I really enjoy watching you do your crafts and I hope I can get through all of your videos...eventually. Love from Down Under. Stay safe 😘
Your order is on its way 😀😀👍 Thank you for joining my little channel 😀 I hope you enjoy your stay 👍
Fantastic video - such clear instructions! I hope to get some of your inlays someday.
Have you considered looking at embossing folders used for papercraft (cards/scrapbooking)? They are similarly built to the cake ones you have but smaller in size of course.
I would love to see more "finished" examples of what the inlays look once used on a resin piece to visualize how they come out if you have time to add that to the site.
I'm also curious where the name Toonpish comes from? Thanks for the inspiring videos!
Hi there and thank you for your lovely comment.
I have made quite a few pieces since this video so check out my inlay play list 😀😀
Toonpish came from a cat we had called Toonypish because she loved Tuna fish 😂😂😂 it stuck with us from the really early days of internet use as it had never been used and was always available for us to use 😂😂
So it was a natural progression to use it for the channel 👍🥰
