    Hi I'm Wendy a resin artist and crafter.
    In this video I show you how I used the silicone inlays sheets I made and also tell you how to make them.
    They are simple to make, affordable and can be used over and over again.
    It is definitely the easiest way to make inlays sheets i've found.
    I am using Let'sResin silicone, intense chameleon mica pigments and resin.
    If you have any comments or just want to ask questions please use the comment section below and I will get back to you.
    I hope you enjoy the video.
    Thanks for watching

      sorry for the late reply . You can use packing tape or sellotape. it doesn't really matter what type it is as long as its sticky enough to grip the mica . Hope that helps 💜

    I followed the US link & then I replaced plastic with silicone & I was able to find some that are already made from silicone.
    I'm not sure if they'd work the same though or if 8t would come out differently. I'd love to see you try out some.
    I also found some delicate butterfly & leaf ones that might work too.

      The silicone moulds for fondant will be small. The sheets I’ve made are really big.
      I have seen the silicone moulds you refer to. Be aware not only are they small, most are matt finish and some that are made for polymer clay will stick to resin as I’ve tried and multitude of moulds over time.
      My biggest annoyance is the ‘large’ ones are not large at all and they cost a fortune.
      Let me know if you find any you like though 👍 I would be interested to know 😀😀💜👍

    Soooo….just a thought: perhaps the thicker inlays that you made can be used at the bottom of a pyramid? I would be afraid of the thinner inlays sinking into the resin and not dislodging after curing.

    • @Toonpish
      @Toonpish  Год назад +1

      With anything you lay on top of resin there is a bigger chance of catching air and bubbles. It would be a hard task to get rid of all the air in the details before laying it on top of resin. But it is definitely possible 😀💜👍

    I just had an epiphany…. You used a plastic fondant sheet to make those inlays…. What about using STENCIL SHEETS??? I have a gazillion stencil sheets that I think could be used to make some freaking awesome inlays… I just have one question… I know how to make the inlays work to make a recess in the resin… but how would you make them so that the resin isn’t recessed, but raised? Am I making sense?

    • @Toonpish
      @Toonpish  Год назад

      Yeah you turn the sheet over and cast the other side with silicone.
      Stencils won’t work because they are all holes. But glad you are thinking 😀😀💜👍

    • @ZippedUpKitz
      @ZippedUpKitz Год назад +1

      @@Toonpish OK, I do not understand why you think it wouldn’t work. Because isn’t it the same thing as using that fondant sheet that you used? You’re basically just making a silicone stencil that you would lay down on your silicone…. isn’t that basically like the same thing? I have a reusable putty type material that I can use to make a temporary mold out of ….so what I think I will do is I will take that and press it down into the stencil and see what happens after I pull it out and then try to use it in another silicone mold. I will let you know if it works…

      @@Toonpish one thing you might have fun with is that they are not just a repetitive pattern, but some are like a little "scene".
      I think that for someone like you who enjoys "repurposing" craft implements, you might want to check out card making supplies and videos - there is a lot of potential. I'm still at the point of resining where I'm at struggling with basics, but I think that most resin makers I watch sort of have dabbled on the sidelines of card tools, but not yet truly blended the two.
      I think how a lot of cardmakers make backgrounds for cards, especially layered bgs, would be cool for trays and coasters.
      Anyways, I ramble. I bet your technique would be awesome with some iridescent film behind like your bears and eggs too!
      I really loved this video - especially what you did with the mugs. Genius.

    • @Toonpish

      If you mean a mould to make a gear stick top piece 🤔 I have never seen one sadly. I have seen turners make them from blocks of cast resin however, but not a mould for it.
      I’m sure you would be able to adapt other moulds though and I’ll link a video with moulds that I think would work. Hope it helps 😀💜

      Yes I do
      You need to drill a hole in the resin and glue in a inward screw piece that is the correct size for the gear leaver you need to screw it on.
      I don’t know what that pieces name is so the technical term for that inward screw piece needs to be right.

    I just got an embossing piece for fondant last week thinking I could do something with it and then you post the solution! Thank you! Could use silicone caulk instead of hot glue to seal it? It does take longer to dry than hot glue but I think it'll be cheaper if making a bunch of them.

    • @Toonpish
      @Toonpish  Год назад +1

      I use 2.5 sticks of glue to secure the plastic and give an edge. Which costs 45 pence and I make around 2-3 sheets before I take it off.
      I don’t know how much the silicone caulk costs but I do know it smells terrible and takes ages to go hard.
      Yes I could use it 😀😀 but I think the cons outweigh the pros. 😳

Love to learn new things, so thank you.
