hey man i seriously appreciate your content regarding transitioning from bjj to judo as thats what i'm doing right now (started judo last week). It's been very confusing but seeing you go through the same has been helping a ton. Please keep putting this type of stuff out! thank you
I use to do taekwondo but later retired after I got my first- degree black belt I’m now a sophomore in college and I’m actual taking a jujitsu class now off campus. Love your content keep it up!
Great video Josh, These Japanese judokas don't play around. They are so much further ahead than the rest of the world it almost feels impossible puzzle despite doing the same sport had my chance to do randori with Kōsei Inoue when i was 19 (i didn't stand a chance) lol
Good question, there’s a lot to pick from! I train with Chuck Jefferson at CJ Judo (he also went to SJSU, coached there, and was an Olympic alternate). The only other judo academy nearby I’ve visited is Nakano Judo Acadmey, run by Shintaro Nakano who is an 8x Japan national team member and also coached at SJSU. I’ve seen another handful of gyms around the area too.
There's San Jose Buddhist Judo which is one of the oldest established clubs in the area, but they are more of an community/volunteer program. Also Silicon Valley Judo which is actually pretty close to Nakano's club (down the street, I think) and they run a great club. I'm shopping for judo dojos in the area too, lol.
@@somedude7938 ya I have heard of that one am In the east bay Oakland the ones I have closest to me are 510 judo and griffin performance judo and they both offer 12 noon classes since I work swing shift have u hears anything good or bad about these places
Yeah he’s so good, I just got annihilated by him again tonight in practice 😂 Funny you ask, I just competed this weekend and made a whole video about it on my main channel! Here’s the link: I survived my first judo tournament ruclips.net/video/6mi450BCHwI/видео.html
I don’t think it’s common. I actually have a vid on my other channel where I show up in a black gi to a huge judo open mat and I stand out quite a bit 😂 ruclips.net/video/Rcyq2t5VYPA/видео.htmlsi=OwEwTAcHRxYRr5k7

Judo is so underrated. The throw someone is euphoric. To be thrown is humbling
Mann thanks for this footage! High level randori footage is rare!
Of course, glad you liked it! I’m just glad I got invited at all to go watch 😂
I always appreciate training footages like that, you learn quite a lot just watching, especially if your a beginner 👍
Yeah for sure, I’ll try to put out more!

Toni is a character gonna train with one of his students in a week or two here (his student's dad is my current coach).

Very chill experience 🎉
Glad you enjoyed, yeah it was super cool getting to see that
PSA: No breakfalls were used in the entire Randori session.
ロンリネス田中がおる lol.. wish I went to SJU when I was in college
I see an alternate future where the USA Judo didn't reject the NCAA adding judo to college sports programs, and it makes me incredibly sad.
Did you get to interview Mike Swain? He is an American Legend!
I did not! Maybe next time. Altho I was offered to use his gi to spar (I didn’t 😂)
What is the best judo school to train at in San Jose

Wait I thought colligate Judo in Japan was under "kosen" rules
What’s that mean?
