  • This is a capture of me and two friends playing the Coliseum mode in The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes for the 3DS using online multiplayer. This is not an emulator. This footage was captured directly from my New 3DS XL using the aftermarket capture kit manufactured by Katsukity and installed/sold by Merki. I'm Green Link, Keet is Blue Link, and ZAV is Red Link.

With the impending shutdown of the 3DS's online in April, I decided to reconvene the group and record some footage from the competitive mode called the Coliseum. It's just a simple battle mode with 8 different arenas, but it does offer some necessary rewards for making costumes.
Unfortunately, the Coliseum mode wasn't well thought-out. The problem is that the costumes are incredibly imbalanced. The sword outfits easily outperform everything else, so if you were looking to beat random strangers online back in this game's heyday, those were your best bet. But if your opponents used those outfits, you'd have trouble winning matches and getting necessary rewards. Luckily though, I ran into some random people who willingly lost matches just to help me get the rarer costume parts.
There wasn't much strategy here. I just selected some different costumes and screwed around a bunch. This mode can actually somewhat fun with friends. We played all of the stages in this video.
    Match 1 - Woodlands - 1:59
    Match 2 - Riverside - 5:07
    Match 3 - Volcano - 7:53
    Match 4 - Ice Cavern - 11:04
    Match 5 - Fortress - 14:22
    Match 6 - The Dunes - 17:25
    Match 7 - The Ruins - 20:10
    Match 8 - Sky Realm - 23:05
Recorded with OBS Studio at 60 frames per second. I'm using a New 3DS XL.

This was a ton of fun! Another video I wish I recorded the commentary from. So many funny moments.

Such a good game. Really wish I knew people who owned it, I beat it with randoms which if you did you'd know how some people really don't know what they're doing despite voting for end game levels.
