  • This is part 1 of my capture of me playing through Rabbids Travel in Time 3D for the 3DS. This is not an emulator. This footage was captured directly from my New 3DS XL using the aftermarket capture kit manufactured by Katsukity and installed/sold by Merki.
I decided to replace my prior Rabbids Travel in Time 3D playthrough as well to get rid of the annoying stuttering issue from before. This new footage should also be sharper.
This was actually the first game that I purchased for my 3DS. I picked up a black 3DS on its release date in March of 2011 because I was worried about the system selling out (that ultimately didn't happen), but there were no launch titles that interested me, so I had nothing to play on the system except for the lackluster built-in software. This game was then released about two weeks later and I decided to buy it since I like 2D platformers and I think the Rabbids are funny. Even though I hadn't played any Rabbids games before, I figured it was worth a shot.
This is an original platformer from Ubisoft that has only a loose connection to the Wii game of the same name. Ironically, Rabbids Travel in Time for the Wii is the actual 3D title while this game has only 2D gameplay despite its 3D moniker (the 3D refers to the stereoscopic 3D effects).
Rabbids Travel in Time 3D ended up being a decent platformer, although a bit on the easy side. The developers had some interesting ideas here and there, such as the dinosaur and bee-chase levels, but I felt like they could have done better overall. The game is fairly impressive as far as the graphics and the 3D effects go, but the lower screen generally feels useless or tacked-on, which is a running theme with many 3DS games. It's a shame since the DS did such a great job with dual-screen games such as Metroid Prime Pinball and Contra 4, but this is more of a hardware design issue since the 3DS has different size upper and lower screens.
Thankfully, this game isn't really a collectathon, but in order to move on to the next world you need to collect a few hidden orbs from the current world, which aren't too difficult to find. Also, you unlock bonus levels simply by acquiring a sufficient number of items in each level, which is also fairly easy. I'll naturally be collecting all of the orbs and enough items to unlock bonus levels. I'm also uploading full worlds in each video, but not every level is being completed back-to-back in a single session. Instead, to some degree I'll be editing together my footage from save points to show an entire world in a single video.
In this first part I started a new save file and completed World 1: Prehistoric.
Recorded with OBS Studio at 60 frames per second. I'm using a New 3DS XL.

I’m assuming this is where the time-traveling washing machine makes its first appearance, although the Rabbids were more concerned with the inflatable duck inner tube.
