I've been using this TV as a monitor for 1 year. I use it daily on Windows for 3D modeling, architecture and gaming. Overall I am very happy with it. The OLED holds its reputation as an amazing panel. I did a ton of research before buying it, however, after one year of use, I realize any of the reviews mentioned the weakest point on this TV. It is not auto dimming (I use mine at 20% brightness just fine), not burn-in (dark mode looks amazing), not the screen size (I want a bigger one lol). The bad part that no one talks about is: the subpixel layout on this TV creates a NOTICEABLE edge around green and yellow colors! If you work on things like websites with white background and then choose a bright green or yellow accent color for your design, that edge really shows and you will be frustrated.

I use a 65 as a monitor 😂. People used to think 27 was too big back in 2010, then they thought 32 was too big, then 42, then 47, then 55, I'm living in the future where people think 77 is too big for a monitor 😂😂
65 inch 4k is very low pixel density though. It's equivalent to a 32.5 inch 1080p screen, while windows is designed around 22-24" at 1080p. Of course this doesn't matter if you sit further from your display. Once 6K and 8K become commonplace resolutions we'll see monitor sizes go up again. But on 4K you don't wanna go above 55" for monitor use
I got a C3 just before Black Friday for about $860 (plus tax). I am using it exclusively as a PC display, paired with an RTX 3080ti. The only issue I've discovered is that if I allow my system to drive the FPS past 119hz the screen goes black. But that only happened when I was trying to use the display in SDR mode, before limiting my 'Max FPS' in the control panel. I'll also note that I've used some 40" TVs for Displays in the past, and as long as I can sit an appropriate distance from the display it's just a large display.
I didn't really like it at first because I was coming from a curved gaming monitor but after getting used to it and getting the settings tweaked just right it actually looks amazing. By far the best Monitor I've ever used with a Computer. Also, I bought the remote and removed that aggressive auto-dimming crap...it effects color and brightness even when you don't realize it is...it's far too aggressive. They removed the ability to do this on the C3, so don't get the C3 it's basically the exact same thing as the C2, in fact they hid the chip model number on the C3 as well so that people wouldn't know it's the same exact monitor.

Hi How was your experience? I am leaning towards lg c2 42". A last question I watched 10s of youtube videos and read 10s of Reddit posts. But couldn't find that by hook or crook (external software, service remote etc) can LG C2 42" do a split screen? For example, Hook up a laptop and pc to different HDMI and display at the same time.
I got a pg32ucdm and switched to a lg c4, the brightness in HDR s really bad with those panels and qd-oleds have awful black levels without blackout blinds during the day, but I feel depressed being in a dark room all day.
Just bought one. Gonna try it out for a week but If I don’t like it will return. Worried about using it for work as I’m on zoom calls a lot I fear it the dimming will bother me too much
Thanks for the video! was considering getting the 42 C2 but was really worried about the SDR brightness being pretty low. Did you get to experience any SDR games like playing on Nintendo Switch, if so was it pretty decent or nah?
Hi - Nice video, very high quality. Noticed you showed yourself video editing. I was wondering if you have issues uploading captured HDR footage to your editing software in a single monitor setup like this? Most setups seem to be 2 monitors minimum and have to use a "DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K" to get the HDR content into e.g. Adobe or DaVinci - I only found out about this today! I've done casual editing on DaVinci Resolve before on a traditional monitor. Last year I changed my single PC setup from 3 monitors to 1 single 42" LG OLED. I can capture HDR footage without issue, have tried uploading it etc and watching on other devices to check the colours etc, all good. What I didn't realise this would affect is my ability to edit within DR, I naively assumed it would all be smooth sailing! Today I uploaded the same HDR footage into DR and was surprised to see it washed out etc. I tried all sorts before resorting to the internet. I had no idea the workflow process was so complicated (amateur user) for using an OLED - it also appears that it's almost impossible where the OLED is your only monitor, i.e. the one you are going to record on, edit on and post process on. Are you playing in HDR, whilst capturing your footage in SDR and then editing it with HDR turned off on the OLED?
Hi @MinimalisTech I am considering getting one of these for PC / PC Gaming use, but I'm concerned about OLED burn in with the static images this would bring. Are you seeing any of that on the C2? Thank you.
So far no burn in! One thing for sure is they have the pixel scrubbing automatic setup so i guess it’s done its job?? I imagine if id see anything it’d be about the 2.5 or 3 year mark. Hopefully not though 🤞🏽
Must-have software if you got an LG CX/C1/C2: ColorControl. You can easily switch between modes with hotkeys and get access to the service menu. - A happy C2 (and C9) owner.
Have the C2 hooked up to my pc with rtx 4090 !! It’s amazing ! The only problem i have is that with Gsync and vsync active during loading screens on games i have a little brightness flickering… If i disable vsync the flickering goes away but i have screen tearing in games due to the 4090 beeing too powerfull (aka outperforming) for a 120 hz 4k screen 😅😅
I thought the brightness flickering was exclusive to VA panels due to their backligh voltage being sensitive to different refresh rates. Strange to hear similar issue exists with and OLED panel! Also, is there a way to disable the auto dimming feature mentioned in the video?
A high-quality OLED is always the way to go, just make sure reviews explicity state that it's "much better than my IPS I moved from!" Some OLEDs are not better
2nd day with C2 and a new Corsair i-7400 4090 Vengeance. Main issue is like NOW when I am typing this, it's OK, but the white area is dim and looks gray. I turned off ALL the settings w/ser remote. Clicked because you have the same background as I do and that's just weird XD. I mean obviously thousands of people download the same pictures every day but when you see one in the wild it's jarring :).
Hey! Someone might have mentioned it already, but if not: you can still do 4k 120hz on the c2 - in the nvidia control panel select YCbCr 4:2:0 instead of rgb, it's a color compression option which some displays with high bandwidth requirement have as an option. However you can't do all three (4k, 120hz and hdr) this way, one has always got to go, chroma subsampling doesn't support hdr. I used my 42" c2 like this for almost a year, switching back and forth between 120hz sdr and 60hz hdr at 4k
I've been using a 50" Samsung MU8000 4k TV for years as a monitor. It's big, really big as a monitor. Good for working, but gaming is hard as the TV is larger then my FOV. I've been debating getting the 42" C2 OLED for months now, but I'm having a hard time to justify getting it as the 48" is the same price.

@@AD-xn7pt C1 if you care about 100/120hz Black Frame Insertion. If you don't care about that get whatever is cheaper.
should i wait for the c4 or should i just get the c2 or c3? im wondering if the MLA technology on the G series will come to the C4...i guess its a risk
I did it LG 42 C2 Oled Amazon Big Deals Day saved me 300 bucks 😊
I understand OLED TV's are extremely likely to suffer burn in with static images. For me this rules OLED out completely for PC use, because there's always something static on screen, whether it be the UI of the software, or the tabs, address bar and favourites on a browser.
i'm still deciding between this and the A90K 42 Sony
Mine is out for delivery today.
$899.99 with a 5 year warranty for Costco. I will use it for work, Mac, XBSX, and PC Gaming. Checks all the boxes and the comfort of the 5 year warranty.
Just be aware that the Costco warranty does not cover burn in

Hi How was your experience?
I am leaning towards lg c2 42". A last question I watched 10s of youtube videos and read 10s of Reddit posts. But couldn't find that by hook or crook (external software, service remote etc)
can LG C2 42" do a split screen? For example, Hook up a laptop and pc to different HDMI and display at the same time.
Is this monitor still good ? I do t wanna buy one then a couple of months there’s dead pixels
You can use an addaptor from dp 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 bit you might have to sacrifice gsync to get it
At that point just get the LG Ultragear 45GR95QE-B. OLED with DP1.4/ hdmi 2.1 and 240hz with Gsync
I got a pg32ucdm and switched to a lg c4, the brightness in HDR s really bad with those panels and qd-oleds have awful black levels without blackout blinds during the day, but I feel depressed being in a dark room all day.
What about USB-C? does oled C2 supports something like that?! i see you have your laptop connected with one cable so i am curious!
I think its my next purchase. But I kinda on the fence because of OLED burn in.
Just bought one. Gonna try it out for a week but If I don’t like it will return. Worried about using it for work as I’m on zoom calls a lot I fear it the dimming will bother me too much
C3 is out now. I wonder when the next generation would come out?
The 42" C2 is peaches & cream. I love this display on my high end gaming PC.
Interesting. The 42" may be the best for me. I have somewhat cramped space.
i ordered the c3 to pair with m2 mac studio. im excited for the extra screen real estate and oled. im worried that 2024 will bring vast improvements.
forever my same struggle. Just got the new M3 Pro MacBook in but I'm like "shooooottt there's gotta be something big next year right?" lmao
Thanks for the video! was considering getting the 42 C2 but was really worried about the SDR brightness being pretty low. Did you get to experience any SDR games like playing on Nintendo Switch, if so was it pretty decent or nah?
It enhances the switch my son plays on it just about everyday
@@GQDonTechHQ oh cool, so the image didnt feel to dim or anything?
@@LOLanjello nope very very bright and I have a C1 and a C2 so I am invested lol
@@GQDonTechHQ What size TV do you have?
As the 42 and 48" have lower brightness than the bigger sizes.
@@donkeysunited I have the 42 inch and to be honest it’s brighter then my 55 inch C1 and they are in the same room for a good comparison.
Which one do you recommend flat monitor 42 inch or curve?
macos has weird scaling issue with not-so-common display sizes,so choose wisely. Rest 27/32 works best for me
Hi @MinimalisTech I am considering getting one of these for PC / PC Gaming use, but I'm concerned about OLED burn in with the static images this would bring.
@@MinimalisTech Thanks for the reply, much appreciated 👍
but the Studio Display looks better due the 5K (retina)? I hate how blurry text on NON "retina" monitors.
tom's guitar hanging there
Have the 42 c2 bud is it safe to use it as a gaming pc monitor risk of burn in faster ?
I bought a used c2 oled last week for 500 dollars. It’s in perfect condition
Must-have software if you got an LG CX/C1/C2: ColorControl. You can easily switch between modes with hotkeys and get access to the service menu. - A happy C2 (and C9) owner.
What is the bar you have on the top of your tv? Looks like a light?
BenQ halo light bar. It’s awesome
@@MinimalisTech Just bought the 42" LG C3. This video was very helpful. Thanks!
If the main usage is financial spreadsheets, is this better than my curved ultrawide LG monitor (LG UltraGear 34GL750 led 34")???
i am very smart i download hardrive into ram and plug the HDMI port into the dvi connector for perfect blacks
Have the C2 hooked up to my pc with rtx 4090 !! It’s amazing !
The only problem i have is that with Gsync and vsync active during loading screens on games i have a little brightness flickering…
If i disable vsync the flickering goes away but i have screen tearing in games due to the 4090 beeing too powerfull (aka outperforming) for a 120 hz 4k screen 😅😅
Do you also have a fps cap? You get a big input latency increase without one when vsync is on.
@@Azraenore nope. I’ll try a 120fps cap thank you
@@ALM_Relaxed 115 actually, it must always be 5-3 fps under your refresh rate. If you reach 120 fps Vsync is engaged. Glad to be of assistance:)
Ah, and turn on ultra low latency as well. Sorry for being late.
I thought the brightness flickering was exclusive to VA panels due to their backligh voltage being sensitive to different refresh rates. Strange to hear similar issue exists with and OLED panel! Also, is there a way to disable the auto dimming feature mentioned in the video?
What chair do you use?
A high-quality OLED is always the way to go, just make sure reviews explicity state that it's "much better than my IPS I moved from!" Some OLEDs are not better
2nd day with C2 and a new Corsair i-7400 4090 Vengeance. Main issue is like NOW when I am typing this, it's OK, but the white area is dim and looks gray. I turned off ALL the settings w/ser remote. Watched all the videos on set up, I WISH it was brighter. I game but I also work and I was studying for a test and the screen is white, and it annoys me. So not sure if I am doing something wrong?
you can use a displayport to hdmi 2.1 cable to get 120hz
Awesome review but i was wondering about burn in,heard that is a thing in case of using an oled tv as a monitor.
I would be hooking it up to my pc and mostly for web browsing, vaping product reviews both on video and written, media playing mostly movies and tv series.
I was thinking of getting a Dell G3223Q 32" 4K UHD (3840x2160) but this LF you reviewed looks sweet.
What kind of deal do youuuu use
Damn that's a huge router dude!
what frames you running on pc with this monitor on overwatch dude?
Hi, Is the ppi of this TV matches ok in comparison with the computer monitors??
I think this have s ppi of ~110 as shown in googling, were as monitor has ~140
That's right. 32 inch, 4k has 137ppi while this is 110. 110 is equivalent ppi to a 1440p @ 27inch

looking to buy this tv as a monitor, what's your desk depth?
7:05 How did you get to that 99 PPI? 42" at 3840x2160 is 105 PPI.
Clicked because you have the same background as I do and that's just weird XD. I mean obviously thousands of people download the same pictures every day but when you see one in the wild it's jarring :).
lmao! the amount of times people ask me for the background too. Always happy to share it. I dig it.
Thanks for the click
@@rockapartie Yeah, but not everyone has hdmi 2.1, that's what this comment is for

Just move back when gaming
Whats the light on top of the tv for?
Have you noticed any burn-in?
Is the auto dimming problem fixed with the new firmware?
