Good game/series. Apocalypse solved many problems. Even besides fair story. Pacific Rift as well. Haven't played Artic Edge or RC. MotorStorm got 3 PS3, 1 PS2/PSP and a PS3/Vita game. It did well and I guess is underrated, has great gameplay even if awkward difficulty at times. To me AAA it's either sure I guess it's underrated or it's a one off so it very much is then a series dragged on too long. MotorStorm was never dragged on too long. It had it's ideas. Drive club came out because evolution wanted to try something new or felt well arcade racers with dirt vehicles wouldn't hold for long I guess or IP relevance lowered over time as it got better or other games came out instead that appealed more I guess. I love the arcade racers I missed out on especially MotorStorm for sure. Gravel or OnRush kept what MotorStorm had and improved or has their own directions. So to me it's influence did live on. To me Alfa Romeo Racing Italiano is more underrated. Created the rewind system and Grid 2008/Forza motorsport 3 as good as both games are dumbed it down to its future current self still a decade later which sucks. Even Forza Motorsport 8 while it I think has a Ratchet weapon use like system for its cars. Alfa Romeo Racing Italiano solved an RPG systems with driver and rewind skill points in 2006. Gran Turismo or others had theirs. Sega GT had sponsors, a car builder and class system better of balancing events then the problems I find FM5-6 have of candy cars of rewards and excitement for events getting safe and boring. Apex 2003, Evolution GT, and more. Milestone made so many great, great gameplay ideas, all worthy to the genre. Many others also. I think many of those PS2/Xbox OG games deserve a look if possible. Drive club, Gravel among a few others are underrated for sure too. But many other PS2 era ones because of the GT clones or mechanics from them I find more to be the case then major series on 7th gen. To me that era had so many cool mechanics, same with platformers so many cool fresh spins on the genre than nowadays. 1 or 2 offs are underrated. 3+ and left behind yes I do agree are underrated but at the same time still got more support. It's not like others that just ended of ideas. Where Forza Motorsport 1&2 to Ride 4 the region system or WRC 2023 I guess has a Sega GT Dreamcast car builder system, wanted a revival of that for years.
Still my favourite in the series, the art direction and the track design is unmatched. You have no idea how many times I replayed the single-player campaign.
That might be a while. I'm taking some time looking for the right replacement for my Blue Yeti Microphone, and I have a few other reviews planned first.
To add on, the game running on 30fps has it's own level of detail. Even during the interview of Mad Max behind the scenes, it was stated how the film was shot on various fps. Lower the fps portrayed a much chaotic visual experience. Maybe not intended during the game's development, but I believe it did pay off.
I remember this game; back in the days a lot of malls and some stores had 'demo' consoles in stores, not sure if it was to entertain bored kids while parents where shopping, or to sell stuff... But, Motorstorm was on for a few months at, i believe the PS3 and at the time i did not have a 'current' gen console (or a new pc) and it just felt 'next level' due to that, enjoyed the hell out of playing it at stores for a while there
Best 1 quid you'll ever spend. Both the first, second and third PS3 games are worth every penny, and the Arctic one on the PSP is no slouch either. Terrific series, and they should at least 4k/60fps it for modern consoles.
I never owned Motorstorm, but I played the first game a fair about, craining my neck to look at the demo screen in Walmart. I didn't know that the throttle was the trigger so I kept on blowing up my car with the boost.
Wait until you play Pazifik Rift, that's the best one. There is a lott of destruction and Sectret Routs you'll pass without realizing. Really, sneaky routes. For example, the track with the Rosted Farm. If you have a truck, you can make a left turn and drive through the field instead under the Waterpipes.
Idk where you are at the review of Pacific Rift, but just so you know, that game greatly improves in tracks number and variety, with 16 tracks in the base game + 14 DLC tracks (6 of them being original and the rest are base game tracks modified by lava), and by setting it on a volcanic island: you have dense jungle, rivers, mountain tops, lava flows, beaches and abandonned infrastructures (like one of the races is done on an old rusty sugar plantation).
Evolution Studios didn't lose the licence to Milestone. Sony chose not to renew it and it was left available until Milestone saw an open window to try their hands on it in late 2009. Hence the a big gap since there were no further WRC games by any other developer within the period of 2006 to 2009.
It depends on the wording. If Sony Computer Entertainment didn't renew the licensing then it can still be seen as Evolution Studios losing it in the same way that if a child's parent takes something away from the child such as TV privileges then that child has lost it's TV privileges.
I want to remake all the games and have every class across all of them this means snowmobiles and snow cats in the desert and the tropical setting of Pacific rift here is every class listed plus a few of my own 1 scooters 2 Dirt bikes 3 Choppers 4 Super bikes 5 ATV 6 Snowmachine mix of the bikes and ATVs converted to snowmobiles 7 Buggies 8 Vintage Racers 9 super minis 10 rally cars 11 super Cars 12 muscle Cars 13 racing trucks 14 mud pluggers 15 big rigs 16 monster trucks 17 snow cats Come on let's get a new motorstorm
I played this at my friends house cuz he was the only one with a ps3. The game quickly turned into "who can get the coolest crash" and it was really fun!
Never cared for the first Motorstorm but the second (Pacific Rift) is incredible. So many hours on it. Still play it from time to time.
It’s very barebones. Pacific rift really went all out.
THE SOUNDTRAAAAAAAAACCCCCCK

Greatness from small beginnings

Oh boy! Nostalgia! Can't wait for your MotorStorm Pacific (my personal favourite)!
That might be a while. I'm taking some time looking for the right replacement for my Blue Yeti Microphone, and I have a few other reviews planned first.

MotorStorm was so good! I remember seeing it in the Walmart PS3 Demo and it looked way better than anything on Xbox360 and I had the Xbox previously.
Remember playing this game with my dad and brother when I was growing up. Insanely fun game

I loved playing this on those 8' mounted tv's in those now closed electronics stores
An awesome review. Being a fan of racing games of all types, and an owner of a PS3, I may have to look into picking this one up.
Thanks. It is a game that I really do recommend picking up especially if you already have a PlayStation 3.

I remember getting this game almost a decade ago at GameStop for literally $1.00. 😂
I want to remake all the games and have every class across all of them this means snowmobiles and snow cats in the desert and the tropical setting of Pacific rift here is every class listed plus a few of my own

_Sony must make remasters of self games from PS3 epoch for Steam_
I unironically read the thumbnail title as "the most underrated racist game" and klicked on the video for that reason. I fucking clickbaited myself😐.
😂

I used to do the same thing with my friends, but with Burnout 3.
