Let's be honest, Turn10 did more in 8 months with FM5 than current Turn10 did with their "Built from the Ground Up" $70 abomination, which they had 6 years to develop..

And I'm gonna tell you Playground games only took 2 years of FH5 development (it was meant to released in 2020 but delayed to 2021 due to well Covid) but despite how underwhelming FH5 in terms of expectation but it still delivered well then what Turn 10 do in 8 years of FM8

This was my favorite game in the series. It was hard. You had to be in control of the car at all times. And you had to know your tune. I had to take time to learn to tune and made a lot of money making specific tunes for specific cars on specific tracks.
But this was the game where I had the greatest crew of friends. On any night there was always at least 4 of us on. And we had a great time improving each other.

  • @Rockport1911

With the release of the great first Horizon games, Forza Motorsport got less and less attention and it shows. A game cant just be pretty, its needs an interesting singleplayer and content. And with the recent release of FM8 I think the series is so low right now. So low that there isnt much competition for GT7 to fix its issues and hopefully the next Horizon 6 doesnt get affected by FM8.
No genre has it easy after its fourth installmant ( GT4, FM4, PGR4) but I think GT5 and 6 are better in comparison.
I cant play FM5 or 6 as there is no emulator support, but iam also not interested...

    • @MontegoReviews
      @MontegoReviews  7 месяцев назад +2

Even though GT7 has no competition Polyphony Digital are still fixing of issues with the game and adding loads on new content and features, but I do think a lot of what people want in future updates are being saved for the next game. If you can't play Forza Motorsport 5 or 6, but have the seventh game then you're not really missing much, and I do think Forza Motorsport 7 is the best Motorsport game in the modern era (eighth gen and newer).

I massively disagree with the opening statement about the necessity of an opening race. It helps set the stage in a way and personally its one of the most memorable parts of the game, but overall I agree with the review. The recent reboot commits the hideous crime of having 0 personality whatsoever so I would still rather play this one than that.

  • @RacerC45

I missed the "Starting from the bottom, zero-to-hero" format they had in the previous Forza games up to that point. Like starting out in the slowest car possible and slowly building up a garage of progressingly faster cars. That's how progression should work. Why can't they structure the career in like a season or something?

  • @RacerC45

Also, how could you defend this style of leveling? This feels like step back from Forza Motorsport 4's leveling system. At least you were progressing in that game.

Anyway a little bit correction, actually Drivatar is already use since 1st Forza Motorsport on original xbox but of course the mechanic is very very different and basic then Drivatar that we know now
Anyway Forza Motorsport 5 actually "Could" Be a good game if they add more content, not locking content on DLC, optimize the game, and manage the micro transaction well, okay the same thing happens in FM8 even worse, FM5 is more like a misunderstood games rather then broken game like FM8 do

    • @MontegoReviews
      @MontegoReviews  7 месяцев назад

No correction is needed. I m aware of the Drivertar system that had been in use since the first game, but the difference is that Forza Motorsport 5 uploads for Drivertar information to the Xbox servers to make the AI better, and that is why I said it "Forza Motorsport 5 was the first Forza game to use the Drivatar system as we know it today".

As bad as 6 is no. It's very tame. 7 sort of too it had a fair progression and fair side event types. I thought it was like Gran Turismo 1 in 2013 FM5. I don't like GT1's championship formula but it is as fair for the time.
Nowadays I think it's ok but the lacking event strategies of GT games or FM1-4 to it's just championships, some fair event type variety aka separated in FM6 and just using car classes.
Where is the strategy? Parts well unless on a different difficulty of settings why bother.
Granted I never ever use parts in Forza Motorsport games ever. I do to test them out but does it matter nope.
Gran Turismo games you sort of have to unless you work around the AI and handling it's usually no worth avoiding upgrades or tuning.
Forza Motorsport 1&2 I'd say maybe but 3-4 it varies and 5-8 not even worth it.
You can but it's easier to get credits, get reward cars per level in 1-4 or the best class stats car and maybe upgrade it.
But in say FM6 I went I'll see how the system is. Ok so I'm class locked aka like Shift 2. Well that sucks. FM5 no idea if it has that as I never upgraded a single car in the game. Provng my point.
Again higher difficulty settings for sure. But medium or low don't bother. I just make it easier to drive without the auto drive/forced brakes, may keep assists on or off depending but otherwise I do play the series causally. But I still get by in other simcades even with other strategy required.
The event types are good and varied but no hill climbs? Did Horizon make it not worth having in 5-8? Because get it in the open world Horizon instead? No drag racing, no touge like Grid 2008? What happened. The casual mindset with the later ones got boring. Lacking modes and content.
I like the 1 lap magic I mean sprint in FM6&7 but it wasn't available in 5 just some fair high and low class car events, overtaking and cones. Which are still fun event types. Just not as exciting to do. But glad they are there then only races.
I like challenges or variety of modes/event types. Racing, arenas battles, whatever the case.
    The physics are alright.
The tracks do look empty at times.
It's an average game. For anybody/casuals sure for racing fans it depends. If you care about cars/Top Gear voices sure which are a nice touch, and add personality alongside the narrators but also from an older time even if great.
If you want fair cars that's fine but if you want racing not dream cars thrown at you for levels go elsewhere.
To me FM6 made the PGR2 quote funny.
PGR2 people complained about supercars late in the career mode. So 3 you can you any car the whole career mode and get the other high end cars easily.
That's what Forza Motorsport games want throwing cars at people.
But thing is FM6 made it linear, cars thrown at you and arcade mode use only? Unless tour progession.
FM7 it was car, livery/racing suit and helmet or credits. Most of not all go the car to access more of the game or sell it.
FM5 has none of those just cars given and the discounts so it's more like the older games just throwing more higher end cars then the balance of FM1-4 giving you cars you'd need because there is no progression.
It's open ended more. Which can be fun but isn't always as compelling as there isn't much to work towards just play whenever you feel like it or if it's your only game on the console.
The past games had more stricter progression requirement
Visuals are fine. Impulse triggers are fun which people ignore other than those that appreciate them and talk about them. I enjoy them as feedback to brake. Same with Gears reload minigame. Very fun controller gimmicks to assist players.
The strategy is different/lacking I find.
Not every game needs a gimmick but many older or newer aka Ride 4 Forza Motorsport 1&2 region system expanded on. WRC 2023 Sega GT style car builder. Are more memorable and more stand outs to buy to me.
Even if Ride 4's AI even on very easy are very unbalanced making it unplayable to me.
Same with MotoGP16/Valentino Rossi the game. Has rally, dirt bikes and MotoGP bikes. To me the side modes are better because the AI/content is more fun but it's a small portion and the AI in the MotoGP events are too harsh, too pro. Which is fine but if both games are that's the future of those I can't play.
Forza Motorsport being easy is something but at the same time not fun.
GT Sport later in the career mode or hard arcade mode is too hard. But the easy and medium are fair I think.
So just seeking accessibility, dream.caes and eh progression isn't going to go far.
Meaning retro simcades or arcade racers of the 90/00s have been more fun to play with fresh ideas from one and two offs from publishers and beginnings of series.
FM6 splitting the content made the career mode boring besides being linear. The mods are fine but don't add much. Only weight effected the cars and the most stand out mod in the game, the credits and 6% grip and more weren't useful to me.
The roulette is less annoying then GT7 so that's good at least.
But 5 is a fair transition game but like Forza Motorsport 2 it has more personality with the region system, with the tutorial tracks even while lacking cars and tracks in the transition.
RIP Original tracks until we only had city tracks as original layouts left.
Too many real tracks made me care less as I don't like the tracks, I don't like the physics so to me many of them I dread then enjoy.
For history or licenses sure but to drive on I don't find them fun.
    Good review still.
I just find it kind of there. Not bad just average.
The launch is what people got caught up in.
But like PS3 I didn't pay attention to the marketing. The games were still good.
Sure I agree the marketing and console restrictions were bad but they removed them and so the Windows 8 features I liked are gone as of 2017.
RIP multi app features, Quick Resume kind of continued rhat but only for digital games no apps like Xbox One tried to do, while Xbox Onr and Vita and more do ghr background app thing its not the same. Picture in picture and app scaling is cool to me. Dual screens are I prefer local (smallwr range but no wifi that expands it to wider) then remote play of it but still.
I don't care about social features I care about tech so lacking the multi app usage of the console sucks. Time to go back to Windows 8 for that now.
