The prog rock stuff from Opeth is really enjoyable for me to put on in the background when I'm doing other stuff, it has such a unique atmopshere without being overbearing like death metal is
Lots of us Oldpeth diehards don't like this Newpeth stuff, but after everything they've given us, I'm just thankful that they keep giving us more. And I DO like it.
Pale Communion which was produced by the band's very own Mikael Åkerfeldt and mixed by longtime collaborator and Porcupine Tree frontman/guitarist Steven Wilson
Yes! I'm 2 weeks late on this somehow, but it's ok. I've been waiting for you to do this one for a very long time. It's one of my very favourite tracks from the post-Watershed era.
After Heritage they killed off an entire facet of their sound. They could do this proggy stuff before. But the growls and heavy guitars are gone. So they're limiting themselves.
This is Opeth doing 70s prog rock and it's outstanding!!
One of the more underrated from their "newer" albums. The keys add some really nice textures throughout 🧙♂
whether black metal, or death metal whether progressive metal or progressive rock performed by Opeth is a masterpiece, whatever they create...
Fully agree
YES!!! I've been waiting for this one. Love Stoner Rock Opeth era.
Back to th 70's with Opeth. This is a freakin' epic song.
I just love this song. Everything about it. The groove, the vocals and the musical journey. Did I mention the vocals... Mikael is amazing here.
One of my favorite songs of theirs! And the ending is just *chef's kiss*
This one is my favorite newpeth song
Great album. Eternal rains and the river are both awesome songs as well. This is probably in my top 3 opeth albums.

@@markblaauw4961 Thank you for caring about spelling in the wasteland that is the Internet.
The groove is just great on this. One of my favorite albums. Steven Wilson is one of the best prog producers, ever.

I always think of them as the Pink Floyd of Metal
Y'all have to do By The Pain in Others next! Another very weird (heavy) song by Opeth.
A 10 out of 10 masterpiece!.. i hope you will follow also The orher suggestions and recommendations i gave

That's one song I love from their recent stuff
This track and all tracks from this album is as good as any oldpeth. Same goes for basically all newpeth albums.

Finally…
I think this is some of opeths best work, the whole pale communion album is tight & polished,2nd favourite behind watershed.
Maybe next ... Clouds - If these walls could speak ? 😬
Please. Opeth, isolation years :)

MORE PORCUPINE TREEEEE
It's amazing how Opeth and Porcupine Tree collaborated. Two of the most genius prog bands of their time together. Really special music.
I've tried, I really have, to vibe with Heritage-era Opeth. I just can't.
your loss then

limiting themselves by doing things differently to what they previously did? really?
Maybe they grew up. Top musicians don't get stuck in one style only
