Another good video Rob. I think you nailed it on several categories. For style I definitely agree with AHLEM and JMM. For originality JFRey definitely up there, I would also include Cazal and Theo for pioneering design and uniqueness. For craftsmanship Masunaga is good call but I would also include JMM as well as some manufacturers like Esmont, Akoni and T Henri. Comfort has to be Reykjavik Eyes, I remember wanting to disagree with you but since getting a pair I do have to admit they are my comfiest; Lindbergs are also very comfortable too as well as Mykita. In terms of extreme durability you are probably right about Reykjavik Eyes but I also have to say that I’ve never really had a bad experience with any of my pairs of glasses. It is very very rare that something has gone wrong with any of them and I’ve been wearing glasses since I was a kid! Treat them with respect and most quality, independent brands, should last you a long long time. Keep the videos coming and hope you are back on Insta as soon as possible.❤
I definitely should have mentioned Theo for originality. My bad on that one, as they deserve huge credit. There are loads of amazingly well crafted brands now, so I was a bit of a loss as to which ones to mention! And I made the same point that all good quality glasses should last 👍 I'm the same as you - still own every frame I've had.
I was cringing so hard with how ´brutal´ you were with the RE Jakob 😅I guess you had to showcase how resilient and durable they truly are. And I just absolutely love Reykjavik Eyes too as they are so light.... They are possibly my #1 favourite frames/brand at the moment and then comes very close is Undostrial Fuse. I now have all the brands (your fault - you are such a ´bad´ influence.... lol... INSPIRING!) that you have featured and mentioned in this video with the exception of LA Eyeworks and Lindberg.... mostly because of my taste and inclination towards metal frames. Comfort is definitely my #1 criteria for sure and then durability, craftmanship & style share the same spots for me. I have two pairs of Akoni frames, the models - Cassini and Sprint A . These are fantastically built with so many details....you previously mentioned in another video about getting these in ..are you going to get these in as an AD and have them on you channel..?
Akoni sunglasses are really great.. did you know Akoni group also makes balmain and Valentino sunglasses? :) but in my opinion, Akoni sunglasses are just in another league.
Finally more ladies frames, starting with the beautiful Luoxor by Ahlem. 😊 These will work with the Xtractiv lenses by Zeiss. Don't know which color to match with the golden frames though.
Zeiss don't make lenses with Xtractive, but you can get Extra Grey, which is more or less the same. It's a stunning frame! Ruby flash would be beautiful if you go for the rose gold colourway showcased here.
I felt the same in Australia. The vast majority of shops and opticians (and basically every one with a proper website) stock the same Luxottica brands (and Maui Jim for some reason). Actually walking into shops though, I found 2 independent stores with plenty of Ahlem, Kuboraum, Mykita, Masunaga, and a lot of the brands mentioned on this channel. This is in a tiny city on the other side of the planet, so there's no chance that you can't find the same in the richest country in the world. Unfortunately, independent businesses tend to have a pretty rubbish online presence so they can be hard to discover.

I bought a pair of JF Rey’s last year and found an optician that carried the brand so he just ordered them and I got the Zeiss lenses. I live in CA, but what I have noticed is most optical stores the workers are not very knowledgeable with different frames and lenses like Robert. He is awesome.
I have recently found out about the Rolf eyewear brand. Not many mentions of it on the internet, although they position themselves as a high-tech and innovative brand using beans as raw material. Perhaps you've dealt with them at some point and have an opinion on them? Thanks
One style of glasses you should be the most careful about, especially in the States, is the plastic/acetate aviator glasses. This is because most plastic aviator glasses look like prison issued glasses. You can look up state prison issue glasses and a large chunk of the resulting pictures show clear piss and brown colored aviator frames.
I'm in Sarasota Florida and could not find Rekjavik eyes or the Mclaren brand. I did manage to finally locate a pair of Reykjavik eyes STEFAN COL3 (169.06 GBP) on eBay used which I purchased and two styles of Mclaren glasses new one rimless 1 MLSUPO25 CO3 ($197.95) and 1 MLULTSO3 ($315.65) and at reasonable prices. My assessment is that for comfort, th Mclaren Ultimate series beats the Reykjavik eye and the other Mclaren rimless and is likely a more durable design. Unfortunately, the Mclaren Ultimate series has disappeared and no one I can find carries either of these brands. Even searching the web, many places that used to carry them in the US say out of stock and have been out of stock for a long time. Didi Mclaren cease to manufacture these? I see some carbon fiber and plastic models but not the titanium ones. It is hard to spend more on glasses you can't try on and know they will work for you and spend the money to add quality lenses only to later discover they are too uncomfortable to wear.
Hi there. Photochromic lenses doesn’t activate under the shade or say under an umbrella. They only get darker with UV light. If there isn’t any UV light hitting the sunglasses then the lenses won’t get darker.. but there is transitions extra active lenses. They activate without the UV light, but still they won’t get too much dark under the umbrella..:)
That’s the worst thing for owning a photochromic sunglasses.. you are sitting in the shade area and the lenses doesn’t get dark..:) that’s where you should use normal sunglasses..:)
But if you want to get one sunglasses and use it in most places, then the photochromic sunglasses are the best. They don’t give you what you want but they are flexible. You walk into the sun and they get darker, or you go into shade and get lighter..:)
I carry more than 4 sunglasses outside. So I decide which one would be more suitable for the environment and my mood..:) I always carry one photochromic sunglasses, one category 1 class sunglasses, one category 2 and one category 3..:)

i ordered two ahelm acetate frames last year and was extremely disappointed, and both had QC issues. maybe their specialtiy is titanium though.

Robert’s. I think there can not be more durable glasses than Cartier. Have a number of them. Last 20 years there have never been an issue
I recommend Theo, Mykita and KALA eyewear also.
