this is what we call Beauty Guru! she gives us so many useful tips about doing make up. other "beauty guru" just making video of how good they're in combining colors and the rest is secret advertisement or saying sorry for how their hair look bad -_-
You are great! I don't know why anyone could not understand that you are actually trying to help all of us to look better and don't want to tell us that imperfections are not wanted! Thank you! xx
I am definitely going to try the Neosporin trick on my blemishes. I break out quite badly around my chin and below my jaw line regularly (damn hormones - but it's a far cry from the severe acne I've dealt with in the past) and I struggle with them being "crusty" or becoming flaky under makeup as they heal. Spot concealing has been my best friend for a long time. I really appreciate makeup artists on RUclips talking about it, because in reality very few people can do the heavy full-coverage foundation all over the skin. On my "good" skin days, I really like to use a CC cream with my blemishes spot-concealed, and set with powder. I've waited until my 30's to have skin decent enough to pull off light makeup, I'm going to work it!
+melissa j Neosporin is amazing for that angry blemish of the month - someone above mentioned that it should be used occasionally instead of daily and I agree (you could get a similar cosmetic effect from a balmy product like vaseline). Also, I love a little chemical exfoliant for blemish-crustiness - Sunday Riley Good Genes is my fave :) xx
love that you didn't touch your eyebrows, they're naturally stunning! and your tips are so much different from other tutorials out there, so much more helpful and easy to follow! and you're so pretty omg i found myself a girl-crush today
Your disclaimer at the end and your awesome attitude will definitely make me feel better the next time that "special time of the month" comes around - thank you!!!
Karima, I love how respectful you are to your viewers. Every time I read a blog post or watch a video I'm impressed by your knowledge and skills of makeup, and glad that you seem like a lovely person :) keep it up
Karima, I just love your videos! You are so incredibly skilled, your work is art. Anyone who watches your videos can tell that you're a really nice and intelligent person. Much love from The Netherlands! xxx
I love your added bit at the end about the purpose of makeup being fun and not to "fix" anything. It reminds me a lot of Chloe Morello's philosophy of not necessarily covering every blemish to create a more natural makeup effect.
Thank you so much for how considerate you were at the end. It's nice to hear a makeup specialist reassure that we're beautiful whether or not we let our spots show (: Loved the tutorial, Karima!
Omg, I squealed when I saw this in my feed. This is EXACTLY what I need right now. I'm PMS-ing so bad right now and the spots that erupt from that are no joke. Perfect video from a perfect Karima!
WOW You'e amazing at makeup! I already knew you were really good, but I've just realized you're a magician, a fairy *.* I put you up there with Wayne Goss, Lisa Eldridge and Charlotte Tilbury . xoxo
These are great tips! I always notice a lot of "acne cover up" videos just talk about high coverage foundations and almost a cake-face approach, while specifically covering blemishes this way is so much better for my lifestyle!~ sometimes I just want to go out without having red spots on my face and mascara :P thanks so much for the tutorial!
You should have way more subscribers! Your talent in make up is so obvious although you never make any look seem undoable and your videos always feel so professional!! SO GOOD
Karim, this is right up there with L. Eldridge's acne video re: concealer. Another good concealer Ben Nye Camo cover wheel- opaque and lasts. also, i love that brush- so cute AND perfect for it purpose! Love from Canada, Lisa
You should use Sudocrem on your red bumps! I leave it on spots overnight and it calms the redness beautifully. Also it's really affordable and I think you can get it in any pharmacy. :)
Great tips! Until recently I struggled for more than a decade with how to treat a blemish. If I left it alone without popping it took forever to heal. And if I popped it, no matter what I used to treat it, it would get worse for a while. I finally found something that works! Sunday Riley Luna oil which is a retinol in an oil. I use a small piece of a stridex pad (salicylic acid without alcohol) to kill bacteria. Then I use the tiniest amount of Sunday Riley Luna oil on the spot. Most people with acne say that the Luna Oil stopped their acne. It worked on my skin too but I also got clogged pores (the retinol should have gotten rid of clogged pores but I'm so sensitive to oils). But I'm thrilled that it works to get rid of spots fast!
Karima, you are a life savior! I never, EVER have problem skin (#blessed) but this week about 10 bumps appeared on my face! I think it's because I switched my facial sunscreen, but anyway, this came in SO handy! Thank you so much for sharing and that lipstick looks gorgeous on you. Hugs from Mexico x
Great tips! I love how you explain things ... And just your calming voice. Not to mention, your philosophy. I'm a physical therapist and most people in my office (and in general) don't wear much, if any, makeup. I also just had a baby so even though I used to do a relatively natural and a relatively full face many days, I doubt I will be now. You definitely made such a difference with many of the problems I have without putting tons of product on your face, which I didn't have time for before! After having a baby and being on leave I definitely realize I need to take time for myself but I don't have the time I used to have for my makeup. This tutorial made me remember I don't have to do all or nothing. I definitely like a more natural look, especially with the face, and I watch a lot of people who use a lot of product.
This video is not only enjoyable, well done and packed with usefull tips. It's so much more then that! It's real, simple and easy to understand. Thank you, Karima! I'm so happy that I found this channel 2 years ago :)
This video is freakin' amazing. I also use Neosporin on flaky spots! Also something I've discovered recently for helping icky, oozy spots to heal and flatten is hydrocolloid bandaids - they're typically made for blisters so they draw fluid out and also have a seal that's waterproof so are great for using overnight. They're amazing. Thank you for making this video!
you are so amazing at what you do and you seem to be thoroughly enjoying doing makeup. I am so glad I found your channel as I had almost given up finding good makeup tutorials for my eyeshape
Man, you know it all. I know I can ALWAYS count on your videos for learning the best techniques! By the way, massive envy of people that don't break out on the cheeks, it's the worst for sure.
+Ju M. For some reason, my forehead breakouts irk me the most lol. I'm so pleased you liked the video, Ju! Thanks for taking the time to comment, as always
I agree. Cheeks are the worst. They're in full display and you have to put blush on top which usually messes up the foundation even if you're careful. The only thing worse is a spot on the tip of your nose.
Honestly, I think I prefer the tip of my nose! At least I don't put blush, bronzer and highlighter on it haha It's easier to just conceal, powder and go
Thank you for keeping it real Karima! If I have any suggestions it would be that neosporin usage should be very minimal, not everyday and not a good thing for someone who has consistent breakouts. I have a close friend with skin concerns develop resistance to the anti-bacterial and had much tougher battles onwards.
I just discovered your channel and I subscribed immediately! I love your energy and your alternative product suggestions - you use a lot of my favorites too!
Beautiful!!! you're amazing karima from the inside and the outside 😍😍 out of all the makeup artists i follow, you are the only one that is honest and creative 😍 luv ya :*
I'm new to your channel, and honestly I found your video very helpful and easy to understand! I don't wear make up often so I have no clue what I am doing but you were clear in everything you did which I find awesome! thank you xx
oh man this is perfect timing!! I have awful hormonal acne that's definitely worse than it's ever been in over a year and I have an event this weekend where I'll be very on display :-| haha and even if this wasn't perfectly timed, you always have the most helpful videos! thanks karima
I've never thought of using neosporin..... brilliant. my skin is going through a whacky hormonal change and I'm breaking out like how I did ten years ago. it's so sad!
love love love the tips and info in this video and ESPECIALLY love what you mentioned about being wary of "corrective" tutorials. it's gr8 that you share information about dealing with certain skin issues without being condescending or suggesting people *have* to do their makeup a certain way
Hi Karima, thank you so much for this. I found it super helpful with lots of tips I haven't heard before. I love your overall message at the end. Thanks!!
I am so stoked that I can rely on you for high end tutorials/reviews. I live in Tasmania and we don't get to sample or see brands like KA or MAC or Guerlain. Can you please do a foundation review for your fave light, medium and full coverage foundations? Am now going to bed and will wake up using my usual drugstore buys lol.
+Fontaine Mullins Have you checked out my favourite foundations post? I linked it in the description box and there are a variety of coverage options there :) x
One of my favourite videos on RUclips so far. Your technique is great and you seem like such an amazing person, you've really become an inspiration to me. (:
I love the last words about Make-up being not corrective but fun. You do a great job in concealing blemishes and this would give us a better canvas to have fun right? xox
i was so glad to see your video pop up on my feed! your videos are full of such great content and i learn a lot from them. thank you for putting so much effort into them :)
I learned a few years ago to just embrace my spots, once I got my skincare under control I'm only left with a few really bad ones on an average day, and a lot of texture on my forhead, but by the end of the day my skin looks worse if I've tried to conceal them. The concealer will break me out, or just migrate and cake. I just go for a light coverage in the most red places like around my nose, and the center of my chin. BUT this would be amazing for those days when I really want to wear a bright lip, I get so self conscious wearing a bright lip if I have red angry spots.
I thought the same thing. I never wore a concealer because things just looked worse. But I would urge you to try the Laura Mercier Secret Comcealer. ways love your videos. you don't waste time with unnecessary opening (love da hair btw), and you talk effectively, but you're also funny! i assume you watch lisa eldridge (suqqu cheek brush and lots of stuff that reminds me of lisa are here) cheers!
I REALLY REALLY enjoy all your videos, they're so informative and just brilliant. You're so lovely and genuine, thanks for making amazing makeup tutorials! :)
This is brilliant, Karima! I especially love the tip about letting concealer try before blending around a blemish - I always get frustrated with that. Thank you :)
absolutely love your makeup videos! your videos remind me of lisa elderidges videos here on yt! thanks for the neosporim siggestion, will definitely have to try it kn my angry spots!
Best video ever :D so helpful!! I love the way you do your makeup but this time....next level...soooooo relaxing to watch you tap tap tap tap products kisses from Sardinia (Italy)
I adore undereye correctors! i love a very minimal base (no foundation, just pinpoint concealer) but my under eyes are SO dark so correctors save the day for me and allow me to look naturally well rested everyday

I love your added bit at the end about the purpose of makeup being fun and not to "fix" anything. It reminds me a lot of Chloe Morello's philosophy of not necessarily covering every blemish to create a more natural makeup effect.
+Kelsey Olivier Love Chloe for that sentiment :) I'm totally on board! xx
This was an incredibly helpful video Karima. Your explanation on the why and how was fabulous. Thank you so much xx
+Tasoula Goodrick +1 couldn't agree more!

You should use Sudocrem on your red bumps! I leave it on spots overnight and it calms the redness beautifully. Also it's really affordable and I think you can get it in any pharmacy. :)
+Blonde in Kuwait I think Sudocrem is widely available in Aus, actually! Good tip. x
Great tips!

I forgot to mention that I must have tried about 30 different things to spot treat and none of them were that effective.

😚😘Hi Karima please do a Halloween makeup tutorial and I love your channel. Your channel goals👍👍👍😄😄😄😄😄😄😄

+Allison I like your philosophy, Allison :) Embrace the spots! I hope you found the video helpful anyway! x
I thought the same thing. I never wore a concealer because things just looked worse.
But I would urge you to try the Laura Mercier Secret Comcealer. For some reason, even though it's really thick, it doesn't break me out like others. Also, because you're spot concealing, which means tiny applications of concealer, the chances of breaking out in that exact tiny spot is rare. I wish I had tried this years before because it really make spots magically disappear without side effects.
Hey Karima, I recently came across your channel and I'm in love with your work already. Very real, very achievable for "regular" girls like me. Thank you so much. :)
Love the product suggestion boxes!
+Allison Kreutzberg Yay :) Means I can babble less ;) x

Fantastic video! Thank you very much! For curiosity sake, I'm wondering about the black stripe through karima's left eye (her left) anyone know? X
Love this! Especially the end, you showed a close up shot instead of a photoshopped "flawless" face!
+Amber Wang Who need photoshop when you have awesome makeup? :D xx
I just love your videos and the way you communicate! Would love if you could do more videos using drugstore products 💛💛
Beautiful tutorial, before and after! may seem weird but i love your voice and accent :)
