I am a Certified Surgical Technologist here in lower Michigan. I work in the operating Room. I use to work all different shifts, late night, call, weekends, holidays. I am grateful every single day that my hospital added another person to the midnight shift trauma team. I chose midnights, weekends. So I go in Friday, Sat, Sundays at 7 pm work til 7 am. 36 hours and because I'm giving up every weekend they pay us for 40 hours. I leave Monday morning and dont go back until 7 pm on Friday night. I love being home with my chickens we have 101 meat birds, 24 egg birds, full garden, pool (yes tha requires work too), 3 dogs. We are now canning. I also Craft . Thank God for my guy.

Bruh, you made my cry with your message to Chelsea! You two are such a sweet couple! I relate so much to this video. My husband stays home and tends to the homestead while I work outside the home (Almost 2 hour drive one way). On my days off I love doing the chores on the Homestead and getting in the garden and kitchen. I pray one day to do it full time too! You guys are well on your way and you are a great team! I'm excited for a birth story when the time comes!! ❤

Thank you for this video. My husband and I both work full time and it's craziness on our little homestead. Yesterday before work the goats jumped the fence and we found one of our ducks injured. Frantically trying to get goats in, get a kennel for the injured duck and not be late for work! Good times!

Nighttime watering of garden is my evening chore. I don’t have time in the morning before work plus I like to go out just as it’s getting dark to water as chickens are going to bed then I close up the coop since coop and garden are near each other. It has worked well for me so far, splitting the chores up feels like less work

HI! I'm also a Canadian, I also work in a hospital (I'm a nurse) I've been wanting to live a homestead life but didn't think it would be possible as a single person to work full time and move out of the city with that long of a drive. Thank you for showing me this is possible. You have renewed my dream and confidence that I can make this happen.

Awesome. Love the videos. I love being able to take care of my homestead. I am actually just starting out this year with a real garden and chickens. I am retired and take care of my spouse who had a stroke and take care of everything in and outside the house. But that is what makes me happy. The animals keep me sane. LOL I also have other pets as well. Thank you for the good info about chickens. I got my chicks this past spring. They are so entertaining that I have a chair by their pen just to watch them.

I work the exact same hours and drive time as you. Living in the upper midwest, winter can be challenging with below 0 temps, short days and long winters but having a homestead is the best feeling ever. My chickens give me so much joy after a long day at work and they reward us with beautiful multi colored eggs. During the summer the garden and flowers bring such a rewarding feeling knowing your giving your family the freshest food possible. I love watching your videos and the way you keep it real! You have a beautiful family, God bless all of you! :)

I also work 40 plus hours in 4 days (the first 3.5 yrs here it was normally 60 hrs/week) and I also drive 50 mins to my job at a hospital . But I work from 10p-8a. On my 3 days off, I dont get half of the things done that I need to bc I cant stop sleeping. But on days that I work, I rarely get 2 or more hrs of sleep so I'm always making up for lost sleep.
I don't have a homestead bc I cant afford one but I do take care of my multiple chickens that I love coming home to and caring for. I just dream about a homestead but really, if it doesnt happen soon, Ill be too old to actually do anything on a homestead.......but I can still dream.

Hey hey I'm here cuz when I was a kid I wanted a pet chicken cuz it was cute became an adult and was given the opportunity to become a chicken mom to 2 chickens I've heard the horror stories of foxes getting into chicken coops so I got a bird cage for them which their growing out of p.s the same bird cage I said that they could never grow out of cuz it's big I didn't account for how shitty they'd be to keep as house pets I also didn't account for what I'd have to feed them now I love my chickens and I wanna do better for them I think I wanna allow myself 2 to 3 more months to get in the Grove of raising 2 healthy chickens but if I feel that I am still not good enough I would like to give them up not to make my life easier but to make theirs the best most healthiest they can be I don't wanna send them to a home where they would be mistreated or cooked and I see ur chickens are very happy so if I can't care for mine I'd love for you to make them the new editions to ur chicken family but I will be getting advice from u on what I could do to be better so I will be subscribed
