  • 7 Days solo hiking the Huayhuash trail in Peru. This is one of the best multi-day hikes in the world and it certainly lives up to it's reputation.
    Any questions about the trail message me on insta: @nickkeenan91
    Full trail guide soon to be release on my blog: www.nickstraveldiary.com
    This route maximises all the alpine alternative routes that are possible WITHOUT mountaineering equipment. All you need for this route is some good hiking boots and a good sense of direction!
    Gear: Tent Durston X-mid 1p
    Sleeping Bag: Rab -9C down filled bag
    Backpack: Lowe Alpine Manaslu backpack 65L
    FAQs...
    I used a tour bus to shuttle me to the trail head. If they have seats spare from the tour group you can hitch a ride for a small fee. This was the most cost effective way I could find for a solo hiker to get to the trailhead.
    Security Fees: You have to pay security fees to hike this trail. Carry cash with you on trail. Fees are generally collected at the campgrounds but there are some checkpoints on trail too.

    Did you cross rasac pass? Sorry if I missed this.

      No, I was tempted but you would need extra tools and equipment, probably an ice axe and crampons as a minimum. Id say that pass is more of a Mountaineering route

    Hi Nick, thank you so much for this video. Do you think combining your D4 with D5 morning - from Camp Jurau to Huayllapa Town via Lg. Sarapocha and Caramarca is reasonable? Please kindly share your thoughts on this. Thank you.

      It's possible, however day 4 is a challenging day even though the distance isn't that high, also the town Campsite isn't the best, I'd probably aim to avoid camping in the town if you can as it's noisy and lots of wildlife around

      @@NickKeenan Thank you for your quick response ... I heard there are guesthouses and a hostel in town so I will try my luck then. Greatly appreciate it.

    Hey man I’m going to do the trek in September and I want to follow your route. I see you have it on FATMAP but I’ve never used that app before so I had a question. Am I able to download your route and follow it offline?

    • @NickKeenan
      @NickKeenan  Год назад +1

      Hey, yes you have to have the subscription, but they offer a free trial where you could download the gpx track and also download the map offline 👍
