I have the dual fuel version of this generator and after about 70 hours of use I love it. I have not put a drop of gas into it and I dont intend to if I can avoid it. you lose some capacity by using propane but the trade off is that you dont have to worry about bad fuel and you can store propane indefinitely without needing stabilizer or about fuel system issues that gasoline creates
Great point. That said, I think people worry a bit too much about gas going bad. If you recall that little Predator 2000 I used in this video for comparisons sake. It's about 5 years old now. I've never used anything other than stabilized fuel in it, and it always starts in just a couple of pulls every spring. So yeah, it's an inconvenience to use gas, but it's also a pretty minor one.
This was very good. Thank you! Going to unbox my same exact one as we speak. First time using it in my RV so wish me luck! Thanks again for sharing this vid!
I ordered the Dual fuel electric start model, and I was sent this model. I needed it for my RV. Got refunded the money and also got to keep this model. I need the Dual fuel as traveling with Gasoline and a RV is not fun. Very nice review of this generator.
I own this model as well as two 2000 watt champion inverter generators and two 6500 open frame Champion generators . They are all great. This one is very quiet amd efficient.
Do you know if there is a way to put a muffler or extender on the exhaust? I'm looking at using this at my acreage but have neighbors and I don't want them to have to listen to it so going to build a shed for it and need extend that exhaust outside of the shed. Great video, thanks!
I'm assuming you mean the Predator 3500. In that case, I'd say the Champion wins. Both run the "China 212"..which is what I call the 212cc engine that everyone aside from Honda/Yamaha use. Otherwise, the Champion is a bit more powerful and comes with a 3-year warranty vs Harbor Freight's garbage 3-month. Main benefit to the Predator is electric start.
@aaronstestlab how many hours do think the Chinese motors will last ? is it really worth buying a Honda or Yamaha I went with the champion if I used it all day every day I would consider spending the money but couldn't justify for just back up power
I honestly don't know. All I can say is that I've had the Predator 2000 for about 7 years. Aside from using stabilized fuel and yearly oil changes I don't really do any maintenance, yet it still starts in 2 or 3 pulls.
@@aaronstestlab my Predator 3500W Inverter Generator retailed for around $700, I got it for $560. Our Champion 4500 was around $850 which includes it's "sale price of $350 off retail coupon" and I prefer the Predator. And bonus -- the Predator has an electric start.
Next time, cut the tape at the bottom of the box and lift the box instead of the generator which, more often than not, will simply lift WITH the box when you do it the way you did..
Why would you compare a 38A (Champion 4500W) to a 16A (Predator 2000W) generator? Not a fair comparison at all. But I get that this is just your opinion. Why not compare it to the Predator 30A (3500W) generator? I have both and actually prefer the Predator 3500W Inverter Generator. A plus is the Predator has an electric start. The handle that the Champion has would have been nice on the Predator though...

I thought about this, and I agree but I went with the gas with remote start I really like that feature but I wish it was dual fuel
Same. Just ordered my dual fuel. Can't wait!
Have the same one 1673 hrs in just under a year using for full time rv living still runs like new
I have the same ,but i have the duel fuel model. Used it for the first time this past weekend and it worked amazing.

Nice. Having the option ton run on propane is clutch when RV'ing. I also know from experience.

Nice, been using it on and off for a year now and no problems.
@@aaronstestlab all of me champion generators run perfectly.
Hi, thanks for the video, please, do you have a video where you extract the gasoline from the generator for storage? Thank you
Sorry, never filmed that.
Great review, Does this have the Carb storage function a drain tube from the bowl?
Using ethanol-free gasoline is ideal for small engines like this sweet generator!
Ethanol-free fuel is worth every cent extra. Trust me, as owner of 8 air cooled small engines, it prevents profanity ! 🤣
Excellent review, thank you very much.
have the same RV and the same Champion 4500 as yours.
Good setup

I've never used one, but I know you can find generator exhaust hoses on Amazon.
I’m considering this one over the predator 3500 but I can’t make up my mind

This was a great review..
how long will it run on a tank of gas ??
That's highly dependent on load
I ran 13h straight
Thanks for the review. When you did the oil change, how much new oil did it take?
I honestly can't recall off hand, but it was under a quart
Very good review!!
Great Vid. Thanks
What device are you plugging in to charge your batteries in the camper?
"What device are you plugging in to charge your batteries"...I don't understand that question
@@aaronstestlab In the video, you named all the devices in your RV used to load down the Gen. Was one of those Devices a Battery charger? Video 9:26
Why did you not buy the predator 3500 since you already had the predator 2000?
HF is getting too expensive

@@jamesherrmann128 The Champion puts out more power..
Does that not have the ez start? Or is that manual pull only?
This one is recoil(pull) only. There's a more expensive version with a starter.
Too bad it does not display amps or watts. I would like to see more than the bar graph.
Yeah, in a perfect world

Would have been smarter to do it that way

I think the only point I was making was that the larger generator is quieter for any given load.
The Predator 3500 is rated for 25 amps not 30 amps.
Champion is also an American company.
Its waterproof
no

The motor is Chinese.
So are many Honda engines
