    Thats a nice inverter generator, glad you fixed it. Yep, you'd never be able to get away with running an open frame generator in an RV park, thats for sure. I have an open frame generator and its a bit too loud, but its all I could afford to get 7500 running watts for an affordable price. If you ever intend on using your 50-AMP service on the RV, when your boon docking, maybe you should think about getting a second one of those, hook up in parallel. My Westinghouse open frame has remote start and shutdown on a keyfob, but the battery switch on the unit must be in the on position to use that. And if you leave that switch on all day without the engine running, you will just drain the electric start battery. So while remote start/shutdown is convenient, its a bit of a gimmick as well.

    I FOUND ALL THE 4500, GIVE OR TAKE A LITTLE BIT, WATT GENERATORS WERE ALL HEAVIER THAN I AM STRONG. DECIDED ON A PAIR OF 2200 INVERTER GENERATORS THAT WEIGHED ABOUT 55 LBS EACH. I USUALLY ONLY NEED TO RUN 1 FOR MOST OF MY 5TH WHEEL ELECTRICAL NEEDS EXCEPT THE A/C. WHEN A/CIS NEEDED I PAIR THE 2.

    A day late and a dollar short. I just ordered two of these Thursday. I would have used your link to buy them for sure. We got the electric start ones with the parallel kit. The remote start thing got me. I don’t have the pipes you have to pull that coil every time to start it. Thanks for the review! Some helpful tips I am sure when they won’t start.

    I have the champion 4500 inverter dual fuel with electric start and I added my own remote start kit to it with a couple wireless relays and a door lock actuator to work the choke. It’s nice when you wanna make coffee in the morning to hit a button and not have to go outside in your pj’s.

      I want to do this! Were there any instructions that you found online??

    • @Jhoite
      @Jhoite 2 года назад +1

      @@tommytmt it wasn’t hard…. I used a 4 Chanel wireless remote relay, a generic car door lock actuator, a short like 12” brake cable from an old kids bike to connect the choke to the actuator and you’ll want to install an on/off switch to the relay board as it will slowly drain your battery if left on for more than a few days without running the generator. I’ll send you some links to the parts.

      It's a nice hack for sure... Just be extra careful as using remote starting with propane as there is nothing that remotely shuts off the propane supply and could be a bit more unsafe... That's why Champion doesn't offer a remote start on their LPG models....

    • @Jhoite
      @Jhoite 2 года назад

      @@Rvdaydream I thought of this as well but upon inspection behind the control knob it’s not connected to the propane, only 4 wires the choke cable and gasoline shutoff. I also tested the unit shutting it off with my relay and leaving the knob turned to the run position, I heard no hissing, smelled no propane and even left it that way overnight, the weight of the tank never changed when checking it with a scale.

      Again, there is definitely a large group of people that want that feature on their dual fuel generators yet no manufacturer offers it. Think about that, with that much demand and nobody supplying it there's got to be a reason..🤔 👍👍

    I don't need another generator but if I did I probably would buy this one; actually the dual fuel version of it because I think it gives me more options. I have two of the ones like you had. In fact I got the first one that I had because of watching your videos. It almost broke my heart when you went to Honda... I almost quit watching... not really but it is fun to say... Anyway, I love Champion. I think the company is terrific. The customer service is great and I would definitely buy from them again. I have a 3400 dual fuel, a 3500 dual fuel and a 2000 gas only. I added the 3500 to my collection when California said we couldn't have one anymore. (I know, right, F Gavin!) Anyway I got it but it is still in the box; haven't used it yet. I use the 3400 and the 2000 together and plug in the 50 amp plug but I don't get a full 50 on one side, I only have the 20 on the smaller side. I may actually take the 3500 and the 3400 this summer when I go camping in case we want to have AC running on both units so that I get the full 50 amps on both sides. I have to install the soft starts and try the smaller generator while using both. We'll see how that goes. If I get a day when it isn't too windy I will install them and do a video about that.
    Great little generator and especially for that price I think you can't go wrong. It is too bad about the height though.
    Take care,
    Pat

    The problem me and my neighbor both had with our Champion generators was that after it sat for a while, the gas drained into the crankcase, and filled it to the top. Whenever you stop those generators, turn off the gas shutoff, and leave it off, until you need it again. I believe it is a bad design on the carb float, that sticks and continues to leak fuel into the crankcase.

    • @Rvdaydream
      @Rvdaydream  2 года назад

      That was definitely a problem with some older generators but that's why they Incorporated the fuel shutoff valve in the main switch now like this one

    I just bought this and found out about the all in one power switch. I wish the fuel cut off was a separate switch because I always like to run the unit dry prior to shutting it off. Might have to add my own fuel shut off behind the service cover.

    • @PitbullSoco
      @PitbullSoco Год назад +2

      You actually can run it until the carb is empty. There's no indication to what point on the dial it shuts the fuel off but get a marker and turn the dial slowly until it kills the generator, put a mark slightly before that and run the generator with the dial at that mark and it will starve itself of fuel. I found if you line the first edge of the yellow button to hit the off symbol while turning the dial towards shutting it off that it works to cut the fuel and keep it running.

  • @carlgshock
    @carlgshock 2 года назад

    I have that same generator. I have had no problems so far. After break in I changed the oil and replaced it with mobile 1 full synthetic 10w 30. I hope that was a good choice. Someone made a comment about turning the gas off after use. I don't have a full shut off switch.

    • @Rvdaydream
      @Rvdaydream  2 года назад +1

      Yeah, actually you do have a fuel shut off switch. It's the main shut off control knob. So when you turn your generator off with that knob it cuts electrical voltage to the coil so the spark discontinues however it also turns the fuel off at the same time. I think that they were referring to earlier Champions that had separate fuel shut off switches.

    • @kyleerickson3382

    • @Rvdaydream
      @Rvdaydream  2 года назад +2

      There is still a fuel shut off valve on there. It shuts off the fuel that's going to the carburetor so that the gravity fed fuel tank does not keep a constant fuel supply pushing up against the carburetor needle and seat.... That fuel in the carb Bowl isn't going anywhere. Not always a good thing to allow your fuel bowl to run completely dry. If you're going to store it it has a screw valve on the fuel bowl that allow you to drain the gas for storage.
