The fact that went from a railroad that could have been abandoned at any time due to a massive derailment to something well-built and operable again is impressive
It sure is. They've come such a long way, they even won the "Shortline Railroad of the Yard" award from Railway Age in 2023.
I was going to say the same thing. I've seen videos of the ND&W in its former "glory" and this looks waaaay better

It sure does! We're all hoping it stays this way for a while and doesn't get repainted into Patriot Rail colors, or replaced with newer motive power.

The Santa Maria Valley RailRoad bought a former santa fe GP20U #1322
That's awesome! Hopefully they'll be able to keep it for a while or find an exemption for the upcoming emissions law out there
