Probably one of the best videos/recipes I have seen! Not sure how I feel Bout Cayenne or mustard, but I've never made my own yet, and really like the sound of the twist. Thank you for a very well made video!
I just found you today. I am becoming more of a fan with each video. I like your style of teaching. Thankyou, you will improve our eating. For 39 years my wife did the cooking but she died from a tick bite 2 years ago. Be careful when you go into the woods. Now, I'm trying to do the cooking for my son and I but, I'm not real good at it. I am color blind so I am challenged by meats and veggies. You are helping me with your videos. Good Luck, Rick
I have made this a few times. This is a great recipe. we went to a German restaurant and tried theirs. Not as good. I like this recipe far better. Kris
@@twinmoonstavern7393 no , thank you for bringing out some of the most fond memories of my childhood . my grandmother grew up very poor and thusly had been taught by her mother to make do with what she had at hand . they grew cotton and raised a few hogs , chickens , and a cow for milk and to raise a calf now and then . never very much . I know , I spent my time in a Texas cotton field helping out in the summer ., picking pecans in the fall and winter for cash money , but that only covered so much . we hunted squirrels in the pecan trees and she would braise them up with onion and green bell pepper ,salt and pepper, and a little Lone Star beer or shiner bock tie make a garvey out of the fond with a little flourwe would dig the potatoes out of the garden with our fingers so as not to injure them as every potatoes was a couple of mouthfuls if food for someone as was the carrots , turnips , cabbage and onions . all was made use of , and little thrown away and what was , was fed to the hog for us to butcher to put in our smokehouse to make the bacon . it was soooooo goooood in a cold winter night to have the type of meal you have brought to the readers . thank you !!!
Honestly it hurts me a little to watch it too. I've gotten better about things like that. Or at least that's what I tell myself. Thanks for the subscribe.
😣 Oh Boy,why you cal this a German potato salad??🙄its nearly hardbreakin for my Mom ,cause we live in Germany, its Just an American potato salad bbq Version 🤪
I grew up eating German-style potato salad. Yours looks nothing like any German-style potato salad I've ever seen. Potatoes are always peeled and not cut into chunk, rather sliced. Parsley is Ok, but not in such big cuts. Can be garnished with dill, green onions, sliced boiled eggs.
Both of my parents are German. I have spent most of my summers as my youth there and this is what I grew up on. I will say that there is no one way to have a national dish like potato salad but I assure you that this is a German recipe.
In the north they use mayo. There is no such thing like a ,,german,, potatoe salad. IT's different in bavaria, swabia, hamburg, saxony, westfalia etc. IT's just more comon to use mayo in the north and a broth, oil and vinegar dressing in the south.😁

So it is a little bit misrepresenting to call it The German potato salad. Most national dishes have several different ways of making it depending on the region of the country of origin that you're talking about. My whole family's from Germany and this was the recipe I grew up on and every time we went to Germany this is what we had. This is nothing like this potato salad I see down here in the state of Georgia. I'm sorry you don't like it but this recipe definitely is German just not the only one.
I love the way you made your potato salad. That’s how my mother used to make it. Real comfort food in the chilly autumn weather.
Favourite potato salad! Thanks

I like the idea of cutting up the potato first instead of having to deal with hot potatoes later, just makes sense! Def making this!!! Thanks!
yep, and it reduces the cooking time too. Tell me how it comes out.
I have always cut up my potatoes first.
Thank you, I'm glad I found this recipe, cant wait to fix it. God Bless
Nice.

Thank you. I haven't posted in a long time but I hope to start up again soon.
How much vinegar? Can white wine vinegar work? Looks good.
1/4 cup. White wine vinegar would be good.
How much parsley? 1/2 cup?
I like your calm non-hysterical voice. Good tips. Thank you
Can you serve the salad cold, or only warm?
yes but because of the bacon fat it is way better warm.
@@twinmoonstavern7393 Good! Thanks (•‿•)
Just like Omi's!
WOW!!! That's a huge commitment. Thank you very much!
No ,we only use bacon in the north ,warm of course never cold !!!!
You're right. My family is from the Hambug area so this is what I think of. I have seen it as far south as Stuttgart.
Love that cucumbersoop
Shit I'll try it lol
painful to watch the dull knife lol

Vinegar instead of mayo. Germans be crazy. Potaote salad needs mayo. Just saying
