I remember about 25 years ago I was playing a nerf basketball game, me against my little cousin and nephew 2 on 1. I was playing on my knees. On every play I would yell, "BILL LAIMBEER!!!!!" and I would give them a hard foul. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 That night was so much fun and we never forgot it.
Well, this is what I've been saying for a couple of years. When that team was named, the question was how did Scottie Pippen get there over Dominique Wilkins. That was the head scratcher. When that team was named he had been a 10 time all star, average 30ppg two times, 29ppg three times for a 26ppg career. Scottie seven time all-star 17.7ppg and 22ppg career high. I know Scottie was winning, but Wilkins was doing it as that guy. Scottie was the better defender.
Bill is the kind of guy you hate if he’s on the opposite side but love if he’s on your team. I’m not a Pistons fan but I respect him. He was willing to do the dirty work, was a stretch big and even led the league in rebounding once.
The series the Hawks vs. Detroit was in 1986-87 and then in 1990-91 when Detroit was going for a 3-peat having already won 2 titles but in 1989-90 the Hawks missed the playoffs which is why Fratello got fired.... Now the Hawks beat the Pistons in 1985-86 because they had a huge front court and that was the 1986 off season/draft when the Pistons picked up Salley and Rodman and then they took off from there.... I wish Dominique could have played for the Pistons because he would have fit in well.
Bill Laimbeer was probably one of the first centers making 3's consistently and I thought it was cool to see a big guy coming out and shooting from far... On the other hand his dirty playing, sliding his foot under the opponents feet to break their ankles and his elbowing, etc... It was just disgusting/infuriating. He deserved every punch he got on that baby face and probably should have got some more... Him acting like a nice guy outside the court just makes him an hypocrite!
Every team in the league would have loved to have had him on their team tho. Pretty amazing that a non athletic guy who couldn’t jump also lead the league one year in rebounding which tells you a lot about his heart and hustle.
I was thinking the same thing. 40 year old Kevin Willis looked cut like a professional boxer I couldn't imagine a young Kevin Willis back then he would have gave Laimbeer hands all day.
Yep, there's a nice list of other top players that despised them. And then you can include the guys that were not the top players---pretty much anybody outside of the Pistons lol.
It's funny to hear Dominique talk about not fighting guys who were 6-10 and 6-11. Nique is 6-8 and played like seven feet tall in the paint, but it goes to show the reality of size in basketball, and some people who watch the sport don't appreciate that these players are giants. Why would a 5-9 fan think he/they could squabble with Ron Artest, Jermaine O'Neal or Stephen Jackson. All those guys are 6-7 or taller and Artest was about 250+ lbs!
@@melvinhhcp3615they pushed a healthy Lakers team to 7 games in 88'. Still wonder if they would've gotten them in 7 if Zeke was full strength for game 7.
I don't care what anybody says that whole mid 80s to mid 90s timeline was the best and most balanced era for NBA Basketball ever. Even top players in the league competed in the all star weekend. The Eastern conference was stacked with the Celtics, Pistons, Hawks, Bucks, and up and coming Bulls with Michael Jordan. Top players on teams didn't want to leave their city and the rivalries were real and legit. Lots of star power. Much more physical defense and fouls and less but just enough 3 point shooting to keep it interesting. NBA at its best IMO. And Nique is so underrated. He just played during a great era on a mediocre team. He so belonged on the Dream Team. He was borderline un-guardable during his prime.

I knew more than one person doing this same thing while playing streetball in Detroit back in the day. 😂 Hilarious

Kelvin Wilis, that MF had muscles everywhere with a wet shot like a shooting guard.. bro was good
😂😂 hell yeah even late in his career he still was in top condition
First it was him. Then came Anthony Mason and then Dwight Howard. Willis was the first dude with that crazy muscular build.

Kevin Willis and Tree Rollins and Anthon Carr(Big Dawg). Hawks had some boys that would scrap

He didn’t win the dunk contest in ‘89, Kenny ‘Sky’ Walker did. Dominique won in ‘90
You
That right
When Dominique jokingly told him to do an "off of one leg statue of liberty 360 from the foul line" and he actually did it.
I came down here for this comment. 😁👍🏻

Vlad dates are all off. Kenny Walker won in 89
I remember watching the older guys play when I was younger and they called it prison ball
The Pistons were the main villians of that time with championships to back it up. Poor sportsmanship tho when Jordan finally took it from them🤣😭💀
They beat an injured Lakers team in 89, but got the Blazers clean tho. Vinnie "The Microwave" Johnson cleaned them up real nice in G5 off the bench.
