People who wanna do realistic cakes should keep in mind it’s not just about having the eye for detail and artistic ability and creativity to replicate it - you also need to be familiar with the materials! It’s one thing to be able to sculpt clay or draw photorealistic portraits, and another to not squish the cake with your hand or make the fondant crack or the modeling chocolate be too firm or soft to hold its shape etc etc. You have to be very good at the basics of baking and cake decorating to start doing this photorealistic stuff.
