I've done just a little bit of metal work in my day, but I absolutely love love love little details about the magnets that you can deactivate to clean easily. I feel like that's a super small detail most would gloss over, but I really enjoy those small details and it was neat to hear about it!!
Ms April you have done it again, great job and video. I have to work on staying grounded waiting for the video after I see a post on Instagram. lol Please take this as advice and get a set of pallet forks and a pallet jack. Also start incorporating pallet fork pockets in your projects like this wood rack. It’s cheep insurance if a time ever comes to move the unit. You are always at the max reach of the bucket on you tractor when using the slings. Get the forks and pick the items up from a low point not only for safety but for reach also. The forks and jack I’m sure will help with deliveries of palletized items as well. Can’t wait for the next video.
Just a Heads up April. When you purchased the wood, if it came from inside a building it probably has a moisture content around 6 percent which is where you need it to be for making wood projects. If the wood is stored outside the moisture content will actually rise to around 13 percent which is a little to high to make wood projects without having problems. If at all possible, keep the wood inside in a controlled environment for you best results until you get something built to store the wood. I do this for a living, just trying to help. Great videos.
Billy Bob she’s in Texas it’s much drier there than in many parts of the country. She can probably air dry lumber down to 6-8% which isn’t possible in say Wisconsin where I am
To save the top of your metal chop saw station, do what I did years ago when I built mine. I laminated sheets of thin gauge steel to the top. That will protect ii from metal chips from becoming embedded in the plywood. I think it was 18 or 20 gauge steel installed with contact cement and some flush head screws. It's been working great for the past 15 years.
Thank you for the video Miss April. A few years ago I built a rack for my moms place to organize material that was piling up. I built it to hold different size objects. It was fun to make and my mom tells all her friends about it.
Wonder how many times she has been proposed to. Most guys would love to know half of what she is able to teach on this channel. Cool stuff in the lone star state, keep it comin!
Wow..i remember first watching you years ago and now seeing how far you've come in doing what you enjoy is an inspiration to me to go to carpentry school..
Great job once again. Your storytelling gift is very strong and comes through in your videos. The trick to taking great photos is to capture the essence of a person or a situation; your friend’s pictures do just that for you and your work. I just ordered the dead blow mallet and am happy to be able to finally support your work. Looking forward to “whatever (you are) doing next!”
I try to make sure our soon to be 11 year old daughter sees your videos as you up load them. She enjoys them. Thanks for the hard work you put into them!
You are welding so good. I remember watching the first video where you welded. It was around the time I got my everlast welder and I must say your skills have improved so much better than mine has.
Richard Smart check out weldingtipsandtricks or weldtube. Both of them have great videos for beginners to experts. When I was in school for welding our instructor told us about them if we wanted to watch stuff at home.
You're wrong. This welds are not done correctly especially in vertical position . She is holding welding torch at wrong angle. If you like to learn something you should take welding course.
Wonderful and Beautiful. Love your maker space. My lady just financed/built me a pole building. I can't wait to get moved in and start doing... I may be old, but I'm still learning from you, and Jimmy D. and so many other makers who post here. Thank you!
Its great to see were you are now. I been following you since you had a small "garage" and tried to make the best out of the space. To now were you have a great new shop, were you can make all kinds of things. Wish you all the best, and look forward to follow you into the future. Best wishes from Jan in Norway
A "gusset" is generally considerd to be a continuous piece (the triangles supporting the arms are gussets) and the tube at the base is generally just called a diagonal support or brace. FYI purely from an engineering standpoint whenever you weld a gusset in every case you will get more strength if you place it in alignment with what you are trying to support. i.e. an I-beam gusset should always be lined up with the web in the center. You never gusset a beam at the outside of the flange UNLESS you also gusset between both flanges also. Tube or channel gets two at the outside (never one at the center) and in your case the gussets could actually be smaller and more effective placed below and flush with the outside, rather than a "patch" only on the outside ( if you ever overload your rack the arms will twist away from the patch and downward at the same time). For wood you're likely good to go, but if you're stacking 3" solid steel shaft you will need symmetry. (The principle behind that is two members placed side by side can "shear" like scissors easier than if they are aligned where they have to overcome a much greater compressive force to fail.) class dismissed
I'm so jealous! That is an outstanding collection of wood. Lucky you. Can't wait to see all the amazing things you will be creating. 🤩 Nice work on the wood rack. 👍
You could use a concrete leveling aluminium edge as a straight edge. They come in 1, 2, 5, and 6 meter lengths (at least so, here in Europe, but it should be the same in NA). I have bought two of each and use them around the shop, super cheap compared to a dedicated edge and so long you choose one that hasn't been tweaked in the seller's shop, it should serve well.
Great Build! Just a quick note, if you're using a stick welder or MIG and have long hair, you need to wear a welding cap to protect it from sparks. Hair is very flammable!
I will never need this or need this information, but watching your videos in fun and entertaining no matter what it is about :P That is a compliment! :D
Hello there madam! I just got a bigger piece of land to build my very own woodworking shop!! It's still small, but it's much bigger than the previous one. I've gone from 344 square feet to 1291 square feet!! :D Just wanted to share with you my news and excitement! Your shop build videos will be very helpful for my ideas of building my shop! Thank you a lot n.n
April, good job. You have inspired me to build one. Rather than tip the arms up a little I think I will tip the vericals back a few degrees. Good luck.
Wow April, how crazy! Literally just yesterday I went to a lumber store in Ann Arbor Mi. For their very last day open after like 70 years. Needless to say I filled up my vehicle to the top with close to 300 square feet of hardwood plywood, a bunch of oak and some Sapele I found buried. I got the better part of 1000$ worth of wood for under 100$. Now today I’m trying to figure out where to put all of this wood! Your video today couldn’t be more coincidentally appropriate... I only regret that I hadn’t gone out there a month ago before everything was picked through. Still a great score, and a rare occasion to be able to take advantage of... awesome build April!
very nice. you might consider a few holes for some guy wires down to the ground (probably in the back), just to make sure a strong wind doesn't try to tip it over. Or, in case of various other side loads. I guess some holes could also be useful to secure the tarp. Awesome stuff!
Nice video April, I relize this was made 6 years ago. As an occupational health and safely specialist, I'm alarmed that your not wearing a respirator. Wielding fumes are now designated carcinogens. P,ease be careful. Steve, Nanaimo BC Canada.
Nice I could use one of those for my lumber stash in the attic for my garage. Btw my garage is a old horse barn so I have a very large attic or hay mow to store stuff
Nice to see u april I love your videos, thank you for shearing it. You did a great job everything you do I always learn something new thank you april see u later and God bless u and your family. Bye😇👌👍👏👣👓🕶
I would have given up the space inside (temporarily) with your new rack to store the wood inside until you build your shed! Hate to see beautiful wood subjected to the outside (even if it’s covered with a tarp).
I swear you are one of the most versital young woman I know. I say that because you are able to do a whole lot of different types of builds and still be a very beautiful woman. Cody you are a very lucky man to wife like April. Thanks for sharing and God bless
Very Cool Rack April! I like that you was able to make it from left overs from your sawmill! Do you think you will make more racks as you cut lumber on your mill? Or will you only cut slabs on your mill? Awesome Job on this project April!
Make a video about your boots (that one at 0:16). I'm starting to use military boots to go to the gym and buying new pairs periodically to use in any other situations. It's so confortable ! This is my new favourite topic, hehehe.
A welding screen back by the NC Router might be a good habit. You might have a few issues if you don’t. Welding splatter is just one of the issues. The computer might not like the UV light.

Outstanding work!
Around here, the wasps would love that setup...especially with the tarp keeping their nests nice and dry.

Just when I thought April was done impressing me with her various builds she is like hold my beer and surprises again. Well done April.

I did some searching for a shop crane and yours is antique. Super cool.
: ) Yes, it was built in 1905 and is very rare.
The amount of wood is making me green with envy.
I almost had a heart attack
Love it. Thank you for sharing your story. God bless you and your family
Dominic and Jesus love you more than you could ever imagine and want you to be part of his family

April. Those 45’s would be called “Strongbacks” but gussets make sense too. Love the Channel.
Interesting, I've never heard the term Strongbacks....I love that. Ha. Does the term stretch to all gussets?
You are going to hit the million mark very soon. You deserve it.
Nice. Dont forget the spaces between the lumber
Great Build! Just a quick note, if you're using a stick welder or MIG and have long hair, you need to wear a welding cap to protect it from sparks. Hair is very flammable!
Wow. Another creative, yet practical, project
I just started watching your channel you are seriously inspirational I'm glad I found you here I have learned so much
I will never need this or need this information, but watching your videos in fun and entertaining no matter what it is about :P
That is a compliment! :D
: ) That is definitely a compliment, and I appreciate it.
What a shame there are not more women like you! Incredibly handy.
Can't wait to see you build your tractor/ lumber rack garage.
I built a rack very much like that for metal. I made the back side usable to lean sheets against.

Hi April and nice to see you again
You’re just gorgeous among all those builders in that rad pic!!! You shine like your builds 🤟🏼
April, good job. You have inspired me to build one. Rather than tip the arms up a little I think I will tip the vericals back a few degrees. Good luck.
Greg Brown extend the bottom support on the back a little to help with balance. You should post a pic or video when your done.
In high rain area the tarp will allow mold experienced this with 40 unit project w t-1-11 cedar plywood.
Congrats on your speaking engagement...and that mallet looks pretty cool😆😅
: ) Thank you
*BOOM NAILED IT*

Awesome spending little time on my birthday to watch your video thanks for sharing
Great to see how you utilized the extra material! Also awesome to see how your welding skills are improving 😃
Love the Demo Ranch hoodie

Nice... metal arm material holder thingy!
Congrats on that haul. I'm sure you'll find many fine projects in all that. Oh, and nice build.
Lumber hoarding is a serious condition that many of us suffer from... but...but...its such a good deal haha!
: ) It was a good deal! I have an excuse....
love that welding table
and all your vid's
I love that welding table as well!
Really nice lumber rack. Have an amazing Sunday, Andreas 🇸🇪
Such cool tools!! How can anyone so young have such awesome skills😳. Wish I had a tenth of your knowledge!!
I've put a lot of energy and time into learning. : )
The bridge build is coming soon I would expect but keep the first one under 200 feet before crossing canyons!! gafaw! Nice job !
Someone say rosewood? If it's rosewood, like the Okinawan table next to me, bring it inside. That wood is gold for carving, fretwork and finishing.
Love the sweatshirt
DEMOLITIA!
I came here to comment this too.
Nice video April, I relize this was made 6 years ago. As an occupational health and safely specialist, I'm alarmed that your not wearing a respirator. Wielding fumes are now designated carcinogens. P,ease be careful. Steve, Nanaimo BC Canada.
Nice you have Scott
Very cool to watch April! Metal working project for future woodworking projects :)
Great job as always. You scored big time with that load of wood.
April, make the other side too. save space and more load. keep balance too.
as to the top lip covers, i can easily see a hole for a hook to move the rack around with
APRIL! free the translator on your vídeos.
I love watching your videos
Любите вы свою работу!!!!!! April
You got skills!
Nice I could use one of those for my lumber stash in the attic for my garage. Btw my garage is a old horse barn so I have a very large attic or hay mow to store stuff
Oh man girl! You hit the gold mine. I am so envious.:)
Yes, I know this was a really great find. I couldn't believe it honestly.
GOOD JOB WELL DONE CONGRATS ON THE WOOD "U GO GIRL"
Need to sticker the wood. Great job
It's already dry. It's been dried for 17 years. : )
Take a page out of Home Depot’s book and add some removable bars that will keep everything in yet still easy to get stuff out.
This video had the perfect length for my bowl of porridge with spinach and spicy feta cheese. (No, I don't exactly know why I write this...)
Nice to see u april I love your videos, thank you for shearing it. You did a great job everything you do I always learn something new thank you april see u later and God bless u and your family. Bye😇👌👍👏👣👓🕶
A very enjoyable video. Thanks much...
: ) Glad you enjoyed it.
I would have given up the space inside (temporarily) with your new rack to store the wood inside until you build your shed! Hate to see beautiful wood subjected to the outside (even if it’s covered with a tarp).
Great video. Good work!
Nice rack I could use a couple of those in my shop, one for metal and one for wood. great storage and organizing materials. Thumbs Up on the build ;-)
I swear you are one of the most versital young woman I know. I say that because you are able to do a whole lot of different types of builds and still be a very beautiful woman. Cody you are a very lucky man to wife like April.

Put a spiral type air hose on that sawmill head, and it looks just like traditional phone handset!
Very Cool Rack April! I like that you was able to make it from left overs from your sawmill! Do you think you will make more racks as you cut lumber on your mill? Or will you only cut slabs on your mill? Awesome Job on this project April!
I'm not sure yet, I'll have to play it by ear but right now I'm just planning on slabbing logs. : ) Thanks for the kind words!
Hey April Happy Birthday Here we are in Aprilllllllll
Always fun to watch your builds. Thanks for sharing. 👍
I thought you were a woodworker, did not know you are jack of all trades
My goal is to make whatever I need in life....Jill of all Trades. ; )
The triangular-shaped side plates _are_ gussets, but the tubing at 45 on the back of the feet are braces (even if they're in tension under load).
looking good April keep up the good work.
Getting close to 1000000 subs....Cheers to another great video....
Hello from Torrance California
You are Simply the best... thanks from Italy🇮🇹
Nicely done April! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
it came out really nice!! and hey Andrew!
okay,… maybe I’m looking to closely, but… really, earrings whilst welding??? haaahahahah!!! This is great!!!
Great job
Excellent
You made me buy a welding machine. Bad April! BAD!!!
And since my initials are KJ, they don't work for me, but I love what you do.
I dig it.
Well done April !

Hi April - So now your are becoming a metal worker. All you need is a metal lathe and a milling machine.
Cudos April. Thanks for sharing. Keep the videos coming.
Hi Love you're work and vlogs! Australia
Great project and video. Thanks for sharing.
