That is a long flight, if I were to fly that route, I’d still enjoy every second of it! I LOVE AA international flagship first class on the 777-300ER!😍👍
I fly AA all the time through DFW. I try to avoid UA and DL simply because DFW is such an easy airport. Oh the rain, how many times have I been delayed due to the ramp being closed for lightning. I’ve never been in the Adm Club in D before as I travel domestic, but it looks a lot better than the others. I agree with your comment about the FA during the Captains announcement, but it was good to hear Tara during the safety announcement. She is an ORD based FA. Love AA safety video. Great review, thanks for posting, looking at Terminal B as you taxied to the east runways, I wondered if I was there! Very well done!
Thanks for the kind words. And you must check out the club at D for the views alone. It is currently closed for renovations but will open in 2019 with a flagship lounge and true international dining options (like lax and jfk).
John Nolewajka I will, thanks! I’ll be at DFW in about two weeks. May not have enough time on the inbound leg but definitely on the home leg. I try to get to D as much as I can, it’s a fantastic terminal and seeing a Qantas A380 is always interesting!
THANK YOU! I was impressed with all the amenities and Casper products, looks like really enjoyable 16 hours, amazing, sixteen hours flight. Congratulations,
That looked like a really nice service. I think the feature that allows you to move the seat into a desk set-up facing the windows is really cool. Thanks for the good video.
I retired from AAL in Feb, 2019. I was a 777 Captain. I flew 125 from DFW to HKG many times and I sure miss it. What was the departure date? I might have been up front.
Hey Larry. That is awesome and nice to meet you. I think this flight was in early September 2018. I'm EP and fly a lot, I did dfw-hkg 3 times last year.
That's what *First Class* IS, 5 star restaurant In the sky, Chef prepared 'cuisine' not food; and don't forget the Suites, when the Captain says hope you enjoy your flight with us, they're addressing First and Business. Can't be talking to economy they gets pretzels and a sprite, maybe a frosty morn sandwich.
And don't forget being jammed into the tiny narrow seats with no legroom, constantly bumping elbows with the passengers next to you, the seats only going back a few inches (which is almost nothing for you, but still enough to add to the claustrophobia when the passenger in front of you puts theirs back), having to get up when your fellow passenger goes to bathroom, and then making your fellow passenger get up when you got to go. There is no way that I would be able to handle a 16 hour flight in economy.
thank you very much for that up to date Report about AAs First Class Service. (the one and only Airline in North America who ist still offering that cabin. They should be proud about that fact...) Meal looked really good. Loved the canapes with caviar...but did you notice you showed us the "Flagship First" menucard. And INSIDE you could read something about BUSINESS CLASS..now that is bizarre.. I also liked the way there were laying the table and the champagne is also "upper class". You skipped breakfast, right?? Once again thank you...oh why was that first dinging Lounge closed????
Did the flight attendants make you lower the shade? I would have been pissed, especially if first class passengers aren't even allowed to keep the shade up. Looking out the window is my favorite part of flying.
Aside from the tiny IFE screen, it seems like quite a nice product. But if I am paying full fare 1st, or paying full fare Business and upgrading with my points, I control my windows shades ... fellow passengers can use their eye masks ... I paid for the window shades ;-)
Wait...so you were flying first class, and the FA was telling you to lower the window screen? I would think as a first-class passenger that if you wanted the screen up in your little cubby, then that was your business...not theirs. Curious how you would rate or recommend flying to HK...American or Cathay Pacific?
Excellent video! What were those derrick like ships in the background in HK? And your music selections were excellent. What were the titles, please? Wish our American airlines played itinerary appropriate music such as these melodies when boarding. Music choices when boarding and disembarking are usually pathetic and unnerving.
Thanks Francis. I believe they still adding land to the airport island and those boats are used in that process. The music is from epidemic sound but I don't have the names unfortunately. I agree on the boarding music. Say what you will about BA, but I love their classical boarding music.
Nice video. Beautiful score!! Do you know the title(s) by any chance? I remember flying in to the old airport years ago. My god THAT was fun!! I could literally see people in their apartments on final approach.
Thanks, all the music is from epidemic sound. Not sure the names, just searched China. So jealous you got to fly into Kai Tac...I never got the chance.
Thanks again John for another great video. I can’t wait to go back to Hong King in a few weeks! (Review to follow) First class looked great. The seat to desk feature is nice, Food looked great, beautiful views, and to top it all off... a beautiful approach into HKG! However, do you think that first class is worth thousands more than business class? Thanks again for another great review. I look forward to seeing more in the future!
Except for the flights flying from the West coast (L.A., San Fran, Seattle, Vancouver) to the Far east, most other flights from the rest of the US and Canada to the Far east do the polar route because it would be faster, don't they?
@@johnnolewajka1639, so the plane didn't go over the north pole, it just more flew westbound with a sharp northward curve where it flew up through western Canada, along southern Alaska, and then curved south again near the east coasts of Russia and then Korea? I have heard of planes doing it that way before, they called it "hugging all the coasts". Is that more miles than flying directly north through the Midwest US and Canada from Dallas, going straight over the top of the north pole, and then straight south through Russia and China down to Hong Kong?
Your animation at the beginning doesn't show anything close to the shortest route, which would go roughly over the Bering Strait. Not sure why you showed a line from DFW heading due east.
Hello...no, there was a mid flight snack (sliders I believe) and a full breakfast. However, I don't like eating too much on long flights so I only had the main meal.
Understand Ray. I didn't eat the prearrival "breakfast" at 4.00 pm and I don't like taking KY camera in the lav. Unless flying Emirates, they all look the same!
AA uses the CX longes in HHG So no difference there and is already pointed out the seats are actually the same in business class this was first class anyway so your argument start really make sense
Just to nit pick: If the CX flight is 77W J then yes same seat. However, EWR/SFO/YVR - HKG are now on 359, so J seats are different on CX in that case. By the way, great choice of "Darkest Hours" on IFE.
Pretty sterile and cheap looking interior for a 1st Class cabin. Back in the 80s and 90s, First and Business class seats were wider and more comfortable.
Why would anyone fly AA is beyond me. Still garbage compares to Cathy Pacific 1st Class. Comparing to Cathay, bed length is 2" shorter and seat width is like the business class for both airline. Is basically the same as AA business class seat. Cathay First class seat is 36" wide! Notice they pre-potion the caviar for you, Cathay Pacific serves the individual 20g serving size with Krug. I would have paid abit extra to switch to Cathay at SFO or LAX instead of AA.
Nice video, thanks for sharing it with the world.
That is a long flight, if I were to fly that route, I’d still enjoy every second of it! I LOVE AA international flagship first class on the 777-300ER!😍👍
The longer the flight the better for me!

Thank you very much indeed, John, for sharing with us this interesting video.
Thank you, Oleg!

@Minecraft Creeper, in economy, yes. Not first or business class.

Excellent video. I love the swivel seat !
Thanks and it really is a good product.
I love FlightRadar, especially when you watch the planes fly sideways. ::) :) Great video too.
That was the best, "I got on a plane, flew and landed" video yet...

please forgive me my bad spelling
Very nice video. Flown that flight a couple of times. Love Hong Kong. We now only fly Cathay Pacific to Hong Kong.

For that price, the food, service etc in the lounge should be top notch. Looks like what you get at a mid grade hotel . Paper cups and plastic cutlery!
Looks like you had a very good experience:)
Very much so. And a free upgrade 😁
Beautiful video
Interesting scenery, flying the polar route. I fly out of LAX, so it's 12-1/2 hours of ocean and clouds.
on American you can fly in all configurations on all long haul aircraft
Wow great video!
Thanks!
Aside from the tiny IFE screen, it seems like quite a nice product. But if I am paying full fare 1st, or paying full fare Business and upgrading with my points, I control my windows shades ... fellow passengers can use their eye masks ... I paid for the window shades ;-)
Completely agree!!!
Love the Grand Hyatt DFW. I have heard that on the 777-300 that First Class isn’t that big a deal compared to Business Class. Your opinion?
You can tell a big difference with the service. Also, a lot more private.
Awesome Video As Always.
Thanks, as always, Peter!
31R is arrival about 20% of the time over maybe 50 knots preferred to stall the aircraft properly
Wait...so you were flying first class, and the FA was telling you to lower the window screen? I would think as a first-class passenger that if you wanted the screen up in your little cubby, then that was your business...not theirs.

Thanks!
Wow seems really awesome heard the engines are loud on that plane
Thanks James. The GE 90s are truly amazing and the sound is fantastic.
Damn dude, Luxury!
I guess you've never been in first class on Asian or Middle Eastern airlines huh?
Completely!
Nice video. Beautiful score!! Do you know the title(s) by any chance?

I loved ur video

What Asian music is that on duration 14:37?

Thanks Curtis. No, not worth thousands more. I used a Systemwide upgrade, so I paid for business. Looking forward to your review to HK!
and 31R is inbound on the dulles 1R arrival about 30% of the time in first
Except for the flights flying from the West coast (L.A., San Fran, Seattle, Vancouver) to the Far east, most other flights from the rest of the US and Canada to the Far east do the polar route because it would be faster, don't they?
All depends on the winds. I flew dfw-hkg in September and flew to Alaska and down. They just want the most efficient route.

You may want to watch it again...the animation didn't go East 😁
Lol, woops! I'm not great at directions :P
due West, then
Due West is the normal flight path, depending on winds. Sometimes you go Northwest toward Alaska, but it all depends on the winds.
John Nolewajka no, you're mistaken. www.gcmap.com/mapui?P=dfw-hkg
DelPo was down 4-1 to Krajinovic during that match?! Wtf. What was that, Miami? IW?
Food looks to have improved over previous AA first videos i've watched.
Shortest distance is over Alaska, not on a westerly heading.
Enjoyed the video thanks
About the only Advantage I would give CX at this point is Krug and caviar course. I prefer the American first class seats on the 777300W
I haven't flown CX first yet, but it also looks pretty fantastic.
Your 5th main course...in OZ we call it "surf n' turf"
Is OZ New Zealand? I'm flying to Auss in December and can't wait.
What part of the year was this ?
March and I'm doing it again next week 😁
Nice Champagne
Why did the menu say 'Business Class?'
So one four course meal for 16 hours?!
Hello...no, there was a mid flight snack (sliders I believe) and a full breakfast. However, I don't like eating too much on long flights so I only had the main meal.
John Nolewajka oh but there was breakfast. Not bad. I’m thinking of doing this flight. Thank you for responding
great video.. Suggest filming from galley door windows. FA's right- lower the shade.
Great video but would've been nice if dinner and breakfast, the lavatory etc were also featured.
Understand Ray. I didn't eat the prearrival "breakfast" at 4.00 pm and I don't like taking KY camera in the lav. Unless flying Emirates, they all look the same!
The 6 course meal looked beautiful
lol, why do you want to see video of the shitter? Use your imagination..
What is the music called?
Name of that song starting at 14:37 ?
Not sure Hendrik. All the music is from epidemic sound, searching China. Hope that helps.
Thanks, found it
What's your favorite plane to fly on so far?
I much prefer Boeing...nothing beats the sounds of the GE 90s!
and the laptop is in pretty good condition at this time
0:32 that must've been turbulent ...
😁
How Air Pod users travel.
Turn that music down down down down !!!!!!
I still prefer the seats on Cathay Pacific business class....better wine, great lounges at HKG, too.
AA and Cathay have the same seats for business class. For 1st, Cathay is WAY overpriced. I got a free upgrade, so I can't complain 😁

Shin Diggio i
It's a 777-300ER, not a 777-300
on all conversations AA is preferred operations in scary
YOUR BATTERY DIED ???? How inconsiderate !!! Love Hong Kong (even Hong King as below)
I find that sleeping helps me with jet lag
All about the GE and the Pratt and Whitney engines. Rolls Royce engines are a boo boo
that first class = business class in asian airlines XD
Damn, the music is soooo annoying.
Thanks for the “constructive” criticism.
Lounge was vile
It is currently closed...hope the new one is very nice.
