You don't need to correct your pronunciation of English words, Sorin. One of the most endearing things about you is your English (as well as your massive skill in electronics, of course) Keep on being you. If I had to speak Romanian I'd be a total mess lol! Your English is excellent and the tiny mistakes here and there are full of character; it wouldn't be Sorin if you spoke 100% Queen's English 😊
The battery on this laptop i use now is manufactured 20.06.2012 Full charge capacity (new) - 58Wh Now (12 years later) - 33Wh Yeah, i dont use it often, but it still give me hour+ every time i need it. And this probably to the charging methods in Lenovo Power manager
I believe it is a used battery sold as a new battery, the battery board shows (13:18) 2018 date (which someone tried to hide with a marker) but the software shows 2020 and just one charging cycle, perhaps someone altered battery data before selling it
Perhaps some batteries won't take current unless a signal is on Comms line. Without your battery tool it would be difficult to know. Still waiting for a product suitable for the home Jack repairer to unlock batts.
Another good video, but isn't resoldering the fuse a bit like sticking a 6 inch nail in your mains fuse? The thickness of the original solder fuse would have been designed to melt at a certain current load. Now, you could power your suburb through it and ot still wouldn't blow. Not sure if this is a safety issue, but maybe others with more knowledge than me could comment as well. Greetings from Australia.
Another indication of the locked battery is the laptop booting by itself when plugging in the charger. The battery here acts as a bios battery as well and the bios resets causing this behavior
you are doing a great job fixing pc and other pc gaming repairs from every customers should have buy hp chrome book from now on laptop comuters is going up very high in market prices so beware what you're buying-DLH
Well, I've watched a similar type of issue on your channel few weeks ago with the same brand 'Asus Vivobook' not charging, where the battery fuse was the problem, why this time the repair is different? the battery seems to be solid as new to be replaced..!? Thanks a lot for your precious upload, I've been following you for years..
This is happening with the chienese batteries. The fuel gauge chip is not parametrized properly and allows the battery to deep discharge. Battery locks up.
I have a HP laptop with same fault symptoms except battery can be recharged whith an external power supply. Laptop works only when on battery. All MOSFETs are OK but gate voltage on charge MOSFETs is always 0. No screen indication if charger is plugged in. 1st. and 2nd. MOSFETs go active when charger is plugged. Windows displays perfectly the remaining batttery charge. Tested wuth several original HP chargers, it doesn´t seem to be a charger´s center pin issue. Could be a faulty BQ chip? Please help me to diagnose this board. Thanks in advance.
hi! great video as always!. i have a question. will the fuese work as intended (melt to open the circuit) after the re soldering? because is broken right?
With one cycle isn't this a 'new battery'? Shouldn't it be under warranty? Also confused: when checking the fuse to see if burned, why would the battery test software state 'fuse active' (11:17)... what does that mean? Thx
Please can you do a video on how to set the power supply up? I'm worried I have it to high. Also I don't understand when testing it doesn't take all the power in one go
bq40z556 chip gets power from common power rail not from the first cell ! Please refer to any reference schematic The reason why cell 1 was overdischarged is excessive self discharge rate of those cell. Sometimes it could be small leakage on the pcb through balance circuit.
Outsource or better yet send customer direct to such an expert. Re-callibrating batteries via windows (uninstalling battery driver and reinstall updated new) sometimes helps some charging problems. HP's have a battery calibration bios menu tool.
@@azzidoqsc True. An expensive battery test system at company selling refurbished batteries prevents unsafe instances of recharging. So, choice to hire was 50/50 toss up. 1) Try it for 2/3 cost of a refurbished, maybe not work. 2) buy warrantied refurbished w/ trade in discount. I chose option 3, brand new. At my level, I will only install new name brand batteries for others.
ja mam podobny laptop. Zasilacz już zamówiony, ale jeszcze nie przyszedł, bo z Chin. Jak nie będzie ładował baterii, to czy mogę odłączyć baterie na stałe i używać go tylko na zasilaczu ?
How long was this cell at 1.1V? If Lithium cells are at that voltage for a too long time, they will definitely charge again. But the cell could be damaged, meaning it will just lose its power and punch by the slightest power draw.
One of these days these shίtty batteries will bite back, Sorin. There is such a thing as a defective cell, and the real defect is it has difference in self discharging, so battery constantly gets unbalanced. If you use and charge everyday, you will not notice, problem is it can stay off the charger for a week or more, so balancing circuit doesn't even start. Those batteries can get unsafe, and that self destruction by the heated fuse, being also a programmed obsolescence mechanism does save the day. And these freakίηg bοmbς are inside houses... Ηave a good one.
Watching like you charge 1.1V lipo with a few amps was painfull xD I would charge with 20mA to 2.7V than 100mA to ~3V and than 0.5A until is balance. I know, it takes time, but its proper way of restoring li-ion battery. I would not be suprise if that cell would be damage after that.
You have earned the right to pronounce "circuit" however you want! Thanks for all the great videos. I've learned so much.
Words of victory by:
Sorin: We have picture
Louis Rossmann: We have a fan spin.

Slogan that only Sori's followers will know.
It's working... I can't believe.. haha.. das crazy
I don't mind how ever you want to pronounce "circuit". I actually like the way you pronounce it.
1:18 thats an easy answer, youre a nice guy that is competend and funny in your own way, thats why
Eram pasionat de electronica in copilarie,....acum te urmaresc cu placere de cand am descoperit canalul!
that was proper repair - top notch.
I'm impressed
13:18 here you can see battery produced December 2018. The laptop has not been used for 5 years and the battery is dead
Its just the PCB DMF

Very good repair as usual Sorin. I learn from your videos every day :)
Amazing one!! as always
Thanks again for the video, and also, Cool T-shirt 😁
Sounds like a new microphone also😊👍
Who tf questions Sorin's pronunciations? If he pronounce it as Sarkuit then it's Sarkuit. Don't question it, embrace it.
Great work
awesome video, thank you! as i was watching it, i had a 2013 battery come alive for a laptop i'm fixing for my sister :D
Nice T-Shirt!
nice T shirt for a nice repair .. thanks

I want a T Shirt that says "We have picture... I can't believe!" I'd buy that!
This type of fuse, is it possible to check it by testing continuity at both ends without destroying it?
Nice diagnosis and repair.

Why is battery acting as bios battery ? No bios battery at all?
This is the risk you run when you change the original battery for a non-original one. (old battery with manipulated cycles)

Came here to learn a bit more about laptops for my 1101. What was that device that changes voltage and has a adapter on the end? Seemed really useful.

What temperature solder is used?
nice job. What device did you use to check battery (and the software)?
This info is in the video description at the top after clicking on "More".

If Permanent Failure flag is set then Yes.

i would love to buy those Batter Analyzer.. but it quite expensive for me to use only once or two,😢
it might be worth it for a repair shop.

Nothing helps in a batterh with over discharged cells. Only the NLBA1 can do it.

Read the video description! It is there

Hello Sorin! I have an asus vivobook and it wont turn on, the battery led blinks twice and screen stays off, what could it be?
My own boss. Please master sorin can you give me a like, I am not sure you see me. Much Love from Nigeria 🇳🇬

I'd say, the cell is already damaged as it was down at 1,1V
Never seen a fan blowing the air inside.
Or you can ask the customer if this is the case.

Sorry, I have picture oops.
ahahah now we always have picture
19 v 4.7 A 😢🤯🤯🤯
It dropped to 4.2V though
