He's such a sweet kid. He's strong to keep his courage up and keeping a smile on his face given the circumstances. He's clever to keep the channel going and to collaborate like this. He's mature and respectable for actually listening and taking it seriously when you tell him how to squat or anything else.
ya know i don't usually feel that bad when someone passes if ive never met them.... but john just broke me. and seeing this is the best fitness video ive seen all year... i know my name is raygen gamer. but i absolutely love this
It's great to see that Alexander and his brother have great people like Dave in their corner to continue to mentor them. This is what lifting is really all about in my eyes: the brotherhood. Getting strong in the gym physically and mentally so we can be strong for others, and be an example that lifts others up to reach new potential.
Every time I see one of these videos it’s just so sad. You had so much left to give John and it’s just so damn sad that some people are taken too early. You’ve been a huge inspiration for all of us and you taught me so much. I’ll never forget that. Hope you’re up there looking down on us man. Fly high ❤️🕊
Alexander, if you are reading this I want you to know that your father touched millions of hearts and we all miss him. He was a big brother and a father figure to me as well. You have a bright legacy for you to carry kid. May god give you the strength to continue the Meadows legacy forever.
This is amazing. I wonder how Dave felt during and after this? I bet it was hard especially after once it kind of settles in. But how wonderful on Dave's part. This collab is awesome to see
I love seeing this! Hey Alexander, follow your own path. You dont have to do this for anyone. Not for us, not for your dad (God rest his soul), but only for yourself. If you do choose this path, you have it in your blood to be great, and we will be here to support you. You have an amazing attitude, just like your father. I wish you all the best, and if it happens to be the path of weightlifting, that's great. Just know that your dad only wants you to be happy, whatever you choose. God bless you young man!
So great to see Alexander taking up the weights..his Dad would be so proud...and awesome for Dave to take such time working with him to gain confidence in his form 💪😊 so heartwarming ...and great queues for us all!!!
This young man is a credit to his mum and dad . Mr tate my hat of to you for doing what your doing your not just teaching him to Squat , your giving him so much more ..
Daves character is outstanding! Such a awesome human being. whoever is behind all this, please keep going with these teaching videos with Dave. Thank you very much
This is very touching. I am fortunate to have an amazing dad who sacrificed a lot to raise me with respect and a solid work ethic. I think a lot of men these days are in a crisis without father figures. John will be missed by all of us who learned so much from him. Inside and outside the gym. Seeing Dave work with the young man is really great. It’s awesome to see Dave step up to help during this difficult time. I’m not into powerlifting at all, but I just felt compelled to say thanks for your content when working with John and for being there for the young man. Rest In Peace, John!
❤️ 😢. I hope if I ever pass early, I’ll have friends like Dave Tate to be there for my boys. Can’t lie, I shed a tear as soon as I saw the thumbnail. This is awesome
I really hope if John’s son wants to train he’s got the best “uncle” to help him along the way. Hey young man - you’re dad was an awesome man. You’re gonna grow up to be awesome - work hard, be inquisitive, be kind! Your dad was already so proud of you!!!!
My son is about this age and I really want to get him in the gym with me because all he works out right now are his thumbs. I swear, the boy is nearly hunchbacked from looking down at a screen so much. We're gonna fix that soon. I want him to be confident in himself and his body. I'm still working on it myself and I want us to do it together. He has to be 13 to come to the gym I go to and I can't wait for him to get there. I'm trying to set a good example for him right now.
Yeah get him a weight set and teach him basic exercises, correct form etc. Bodyweight stuff and some free weight exercises are plenty for his age. No need for anything extravagant, show him how he can train and use his time productively while still having fun.
as his dad you have the power to take that shit away. get rid of the whole console. i played computer games 8hrs a day as a pre-adolescent/adolescent and let me tell you it completely destroyed any sense of self confidence and worth i had. the gym gave it all back years later but i wish i could have that time back. just a thought.
This one teared me up. That kid is so talented with his tricks! I always loved it when John would put him in his videos. Takes discipline to master that stuff! Good job Dave and Elitefts...made his day. Marine Mike
I'm watching this video I'm detail before my next squatting session. I can learn from this for sure. 20 years of squatting and I'm a learn from this. Marine Mike
That's a cool journey who begin, now we all want to see Alexander progressing in squat and all others exercises, and see him take the futur of this channel on his shoulders
Love the video and I’m happy to see Dave coaching and helping. Also love seeing Paul there as well. Emotional and helpful all in one. More videos would be awesome!
Looking forward to seeing this young mans journey, carrying forward his fathers legacy,, incredible to see Jon’s friends looking after his son, amazing 👍
Well done Alexander. Not only a great yoyo guy but a strong kid too! Keep it up and i look forward to one day watching your channel to help me in the gym 👍🏻👍🏻
I LOVE this! It's super hard to make a video doing something you're not yet good at. To see Alexander embracing this challenge is impressive & courageous, and I'm learning a lot from Dave & Sam along the way!
Thank you soooo much Dave for these squatting pro tips especially demonstrated on a beginner lifter because when people back squat or front squat and even the box squat you didn’t mention that the hips go back 1st BEFORE the legs because the legs are stabilizers and also thanks to Sam for showing us good goblet squat form; it’s also a great leg exercise for beginners to learn before the bigger compound leg exercises.
Very helpful video as always from the late great mountain dog fitness. Keep it up Alexander! Your dad would be proud. Dave is amazing no matter what the circumstances. Much love to you all. Stay healthy and be well.
Much respect for you Dave taking Johns son under ur wing ! Mountain meadows will live in our hearts forever 🙏🏽💪🏽
Wow I didn’t know that’s john’s son! This video just hit the feels. Beautiful!
Man…I’m about to cry watching a weightlifting vid🤦🏿♂️❤️
Man this brought tears of joy for me, seeing Dave putting John's boy under his wing.💜💜💜💪🏽🥲

Agreed. John is enjoying this. 😇
Absolutely.. hes grown up so fast though..
This is really hitting the feels today. Some of John's best friends teaching our favorite little Yoyo legend. 💖
Nice work, Alexander. Making your Dad proud, as always.
“How’d that feel?”
“Fun”
He’s a Meadows.
Kid will be diesel af in a decade and a half
Young Meadows is going to do great things
The Mountain Pup has some big shoes to fill, but he is already killing it! Well done Alex!

Train healthy and drug free. Your health and family is much more important than being huge or lifting huge weights.
It might make for an interesting series to see how he develops as he works out more and more over the next couple years.
I will definitely will be watching that growth process. If it's available. This is one good egg
Excellent idea! 💡

get him into team sports tbh if you want him to be more outgoing and spend less time indoors
Fun thought: attach a weight to his device as a joke/prank one day, notice his reaction. Keep it fun and it’ll all fall into place. Godspeed good sir.
