- G’day! In this banjo lesson we’ll take a look at an arrangement of the traditional tune, St Anne’s Reel. A very pretty tune, played in a melodic style, we’re in the Key of D and the banjo is in standard tuning (G D G B D).
In this jam packed lesson we’ll also cover two variations of the D Major scale in standard tuning, plus a back up arrangement on the banjo (avoiding the 5th string when needed!).
Video Lesson #1 - In the first lesson here on RUclips we’ll take a look at part A of St Anne’s Reel, learn the open position D Major scale and work on an exercise focusing on hammer on/pull off triplets!
Head over to pickinlessons.... to find the TAB and:
Video Lesson #2 - In the second lesson we’ll take a look at part B of St Anne’s Reel and learn the melodic D Major scale covering 2 octaves
Video Lesson #3 - In the third lesson we’ll cover how to back up St Anne’s Reel. As we’re in the Key of D and standard tuning, we’ll look at all the chords needed, when to avoid the 5th string and play through the back up arrangement.
Lesson #4 - MP3 Backing Tracks & Play-Along plus technical worksheet & MP3 examples
Thank you very much for this lesson... it is very inspirational!
You're very welcome!
Nice thanks. Good to hear an accent from closer to home occasionally 🙂
Awesome
Exactly what I was looking for!! Thank you so much. Great teaching.
You’re welcome!
your videos are awesome hermano
Cheers!
I always play that with the 5th hooked to A, other wise the arrangements are nearly Identical. Except for your little slurs and pull off.
Approx. what pace (bpm) is this at, please?
Around 90 bpm in cut time.
@@pickinlessons thank you.
I would say it's at a Moderate BPM 😆 I still have no idea, because the good players are twice as fast as me
Hi great lesson, great tune, thank you , I have a question the tab shows the triple on the third string but the video shows and sounds like the fourth? Can anyone clarify this for me please
Cheers. The triplet is definitely played on string 3 :)
Pickin' Lessons great Thank you
