How to play MSFS Microsoft Flight 2020 without the CD DVD disk - totally legal
If you Microsoft Flight 2020 DVDs are not reading very well, or you are getting annoyed at having to have the DVD disk1 in the drive to run the game then these two options might be very helpful.

Disclaimer
This requires copying some of the smaller files on the first install DVD, so you will need this disk and for it to be able to be at least partially readable. Therefore you must own this disk and have purchased it. As you have bought it and are just copying files from the install disk this is not piracy, you have bought and paid to use the software already.
Please do not ask for copies of these files.
1st option
Install Xbox app (not the xbox game bar app)
login to your microsoft account
check in your game library, it should show Microsoft flight 2020, click on it to install.
This might be all you need to do.
2nd option
copy the smaller files from DVD1 into a folder on the desktop
install IMGburn or some other ISO tool, and create a disk image that contains the files in the folder.
mount the image as a disk drive in windows and this should make the game think the game disk is inserted.

Great idea especially when you consider newer cases dont have cd drives so messy using portable drives plus saves original cds getting damaged! Thanks for sharing Mike and Kath👍

cheers rick, it is good fun but has limited long term value, once you have flown to a few of your favourite destinations. although the landing challenges keep things fresh

REALLY been wanting to get into this cos it looks amazing but just never got round do it. This might change my mind though......Gonna do that flight from Newcastle to Bristol International Airport 🙂
haha you should give it a go, the learning curve is pretty steep but start with a xbox 360 style gamepad and it is a lot easier, then progress to a flight stick if you get the bug

Does it always ask for disk 1? Is there a chance it just works? Im not sure whether to buy it digitally or on disk and this seems slightly inconvenient.
it will ask for the disk sometimes, but just click ok and the game continues

i was using a USB external drive
What if you do not have a game dis but you downloaded it through XBox app
you should be able to do the same thing, sign in to the xbox account and download the game

Eject the mounted iso and run as normal
