Absolutely agee Why is overtaking forcing oncoming traffic onto the verge not dangerous driving? A head on crash would cause multiple fatalities and the offender goes on lesson.
The artic driver in clip 5 should have gotten at least 6 points for that imo. Punishments are far too lenient for highly dangerous manoeuvres that put other road users at risk.
But the police wouldn't have got anything from the penalty - the course is a legalised bribe, hence why they push them hard! It's the only way they can make money from offenders - otherwise, penalties go to central government. The Christmas policeman's ball is getting really expensive now!
People who drive recklessly e.g. overtaking on solid white lines, overtaking dangerously and running red lights should have their license taken off them. They already know they are breaking the law, so a driving course ain't gonna work!
@@LionelMessi-ct7tu You haven't got a clue, have you? Most accept the fixed penalty notice (that does, if applicable, offer a driving course) of £100 and 3 points. The half-decent penalty comes from the driver going to court, whether he doesn't respont to the notice or thinks he can contest it.
Honestly anyone causing another road users to have to take drastic action to avoid collision should lose thier licence. That's a narrowly avoided fatality.
We all make mistakes and misjudge things on occasion but it's pretty tough to accidentally overtake on a blind bend with a solid white line. Very surprised some of these got away with awareness courses when they were far more dangerous than some speeding offenses that would get you an immediate 3 points (talking about 60 on a rural 50 road not doing 70 past a school in town!)
What really annoys me about these kind of drivers is, they simply cannot conceive of any circumstance in which their bad driving would be to blame if they caused a collision. It is ALWAYS the other driver's fault, and especially so when it's actually not!
Serious quesion, If they are convicted of the offence, why the need to blank out the number plate, their personal details are already in the public domain via court records?
They should post their picture so we can see who these retards are. SHAME THEM. They might then think twice about driving like an idiot in the future...
@@pussinboots1145 you can apply to dvla for keeper details, just like private parking companies do. But you'll need a valid reason for needing the details.
Personally I think £100 fine and 3 points is way too soft on these self indulgent muppets. How about £1000 and 9 points as they won't do it again for sure and none of this Driving awareness course as they clearly are aware and just don't want to wait. Good to see a human life is worth saving 10 seconds on your trip!
£100 is NOT a deterrent. £600 + court costs + victim costs + 6 points = YES! ALL infractions should be reported to their insurance company. THAT would be a long term deterrent! And anyone on a driving course to MEET someone who has had a family member killed by a dangerous driver!
In my village, lots of people get caught doing 42mph in a 30mp zone - the problem is that only about 10% of drivers do anything like 30mph because it feels so inappropriate for the road. Seeing some of the really dangerous driving in these clips, I agree with other posters that there should be more serious penalties.
@richaustin4991 No I don't. The police can issue an FPN for minor offenses, such as careless driving, using a mobile phone while driving, or not wearing a seat belt. The amount of the fine can vary depending on the circumstances or the severity of the offense. For example, the fine could be £50, £100, £200, or £300. FPNs also usually include penalty points. You can accept the FPN or reject it. If you accept it, you avoid a court summons. If you reject it, you'll have to appear in court.
There is some seriously dangerous and reckless driving here and the punishment is a driving course? Seriously? I drove really slowly through a rural village with a 30 mph limit. As I approached the 50 mph sign, just metres from it, I foolishly started to increase speed and set off a camera which clocked me doing 36 mph. I got £100 fine and 3 points on my licence. And some of these characters are driving like that and getting LESS than me. I was doing 36 on a quiet road and was the only person on the road and get a bigger punishment than somebody literally speeding, driving on the wrong side of the road and forcing somebody else off the road.
Respect to you for sharing your guilt. I agree, it smacks of a money making system, and not any deterrent to those who risk others lives by glibly breaking the laws.
So there you have it. The worst case of driving and all the driver gets is a poxy driving course. No wonder the roads are lawless. I'm surprised the police even bother, they are let down so badly by the courts.
Here’s some advice to the courts and police. Fine these people 20% of their yearly income, and if the endanger anyone else with their driving ban them so they have to be re-tested. No leniency when lives are on the line
So what's the criteria for being charged with dangerous driving then? Most of those examples were wilfully negligent and highly dangerous. Carless driving my arse!
In my case the criteria was a serious collision, requiring the attendance of the emergency services, and a week long stay in hospital. I suffered collapsed lungs and a broken leg - I couldn't physically drive for four months. The guilty party attended the magistrates court, got fined £220.00, with costs and the victim surcharge, was given a twelve month disqualification, and ordered to re-take the driving test (which was an hour long). It took them another four months before they could get the test slot. All told, the perpetrator (me) was off the road for twenty months, and faced seriously increased insurance costs.
What do people have to do to get charged with dangerous driving? Or does that offense not exist any more? Some of these morons should have had the book thrown at them, but all they get is a slap on the wrist!
I have read the comments and this video is clearly backfiring on Lincolnshire police as almost every comment (including my own) is regarding the pathetic outcome at court. It just shows how out of touch the courts are with the rest of us...
@@BibtheBoulder Yup, the Police think they're doing great policing by using the public to catch criminals for them (well it's saves them a bunch of money anyway) but then they barely fine these people.
