As a silent viewer I just have to say your ad reels are one of the only ones I never skip the skits are so silly and fun and always make me giggle
I don't know why it is always so cozy and relaxing to watch how you pick your TBR for the next month 😁
emma and sarah schaur are the only people I actually watch the full ads bc theyre so entertaining!
I can safely say that the Dickens vs Tolstoy book club has landed me binging all of Dickens’s books and collecting them all. I can’t wait to read this month’s book!
(Also, the ad was amazing. You need an Oscar for that performance 😂)
Oh my gosh, didn’t recognize you there Lexie! New profile pic! 😏😊 I’m currently in the middle of Dickens Christmas Carol, I see the pull, the draw!! 🥰
@@Tania.atlasinajar Yeah! I needed to give Izuku a break lol. I feel controversial saying this but how the girls are with Dickens is exactly how I am with Tolstoy right now. I can’t wait to try and balance this book with some other books I am reading lol 😂
@@LexieMoon321 I totally hear you! It’s nice to mix it up! 🤗 I think my first Tolstoy will be next year either The Death of Ivan Ilyich or Anna Karenina! We’ll see! 😆
Ah that is so nice to read!!! I’m so glad and I’m also so happy to say I’m loving Dombey and Son so far!!🥰
Keep hangin on Emma, we may be trapped in this pointless mortality, but it's the pain that makes us real.
I’m forever impressed by your range of book choices!
November usually ends up being a 'finishing everything I've already started' month and these are the main (big) books;
Babel by R.F Kuang
Fairytale by Stephen King
War and Peace by Tolstoy
So you're only reading short books then?
I've been a silent viewer, but I have to say you are the only "book tuber" I watch consistently. You always put out great content, so thank you! This month I'm finishing my Master's in teaching so my reading is pretty light. I'm currently reading "The Namesake" to teach for a class. In what spare time I do have, I plan to finish reading "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me" by Sherman Alexie, which is his memoir he wrote to grapple with the grief of his mother's death.
i’ve been loving the thumbnails lately ❤
I am reading:
The master and margerita
The wide sargasso sea
The private memoirs and confessions of a justified sinner
The love of a good woman
The girl with a pearl earing
The last unicorn
And I am continuing to read the count of monte cristo with plans to have it finished by the end of the year.
The Last Unicorn... oh my heart ❤❤❤
Omg I'm reading Master and margarita as well right now. It's so much fun. Hope you'll are loving it as well!
nothing better than spending my rainy afternoon with sipping coffee and watching Emma talking about books 🖤 ULTIMATE COMFORT
I agree(:
Love your video & Rebecca Vlogs too
your ads deserve an emmie award.
good call dnfing hotel magnifique bc it does not get better...
This channel 's sponsor ads are honestly the only ones I never skip!! 😊
i also want to read witcher so much. i have read the first book and i want to continue with the series
I’m about 250 pages into Dombey and Son and it’s goood! It’s my first Dickens in decades and I’m thoroughly enjoying it.
yes!! okay amazing I'm having the same reaction, finally feel like I found a relatively early Dickens work that I'm loving :')
The Aggie Morton series is fantastic! Haven’t listened to the audiobook
Your fever dream sponsor part really stole the show 😆
I'm so late to the game here, but if you haven't started The Shining yet, I would highly recommend reading the physical book! King's writing is such a visual experience, and it adds to the atmosphere of the story. Easily one of my favorite spooky reads.
Woah, that kindle font is humongous! But yeah, I agree that tablet reading is a breeze. I have kindle app on my iPad and love it. Though not quite the same, arguably
"There's someone in here named Mr. Toots. That's all I need to know." 🤣🤣
When you are interested in novels set in hotels, I recommend Grand Hotel by Vicki Baum, written in 1929. The movie adaptation (with Greta Garbo) won an Oscar.
Another one is Hotel Silence by Auður Ava Ólafsdóttir which won the Icelandic Literary Prize 2016 !!
I have read Dombey and son and i loved it 😍😍😍
Emmie going above and beyond on the ads. :)
Video #21 of recommending hakumei and mikochi
lmao the book of the month bit was funny
My November TBR (fingers crossed):
House of Leaves - Mark Danielewski
Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell - Susanna Clarke
Elena Knows - Claudia Piñeiro
Island of Missing Trees - Elif Shafak
Bewilderment - Richard Powers
All Systems Red - Martha Wells
Riot Baby - Tochi Onyebochi
House on the Cerulean Sea - TJ Klune

Not the mustache!!
The german versions of the Witcher-books are beautiful :)
I had no idea Libby has audiobooks 😮 thnx
I’m the same with kindle. Can get through a 400 page book way faster than a physical
The sketches with book of the month are just priceless!! 😆🙌😂😂 Top notch comedy 😂👌
Many thanks for all laughs they bring 🙏😁
I have too much fun making them haha, you're so welcome
Waiting for the day Emmie finally reads the book I sent her 🥲
My TBR included The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and The Pit and the Pendulum. I have already read those which leaves The Secret History.
Yey, Sapkowski - made in Poland :) I love that although I still think you could enjoy his short stories bacause they are very much connected with Blood of elves and they introduce you to the Witcher.
Cleopatra has a good Story. Might put that on my tbr
No one makes sponsor parts be so entertaining like you do. Literally you should be getting double whatever you get for those. Bacause i’m sure no one skips one!!
My November-TBR includes „King of WRath“ „Malice“ „The Love Hypothesis“ and „Pride and Prejudice“ Also known as read-all-the-books-you’ve-started-over-the-year-November (Ive finished the first so far)
Aggie Morton! I had forgot about that book, I need to get it, Im loving Agatha Christie books. Ive just started Lies of Locke Lamora, its not bad
The shining is one of my favorite books. I recommend you to read it instead of listening to it :)
BOTM delivers to the Yukon, but Emmie lives in Toronto!!! there is at least 10 degrees of lattitude between those 2 locations.
And Like she said - it's ONLY November. The REAL cold does not usually start until January!!!
Your kitty is cute. 😺
The best hotel novel I ever read was A gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles.
Loved the video! My November TBR is:
• The Alice Network
• Kingdom of Ash
• Boundaries
• Fire & Blood
(I think that’s all I’ll realistically get through this month)
I recommend getting a Kobo if you enjoy ebooks, as Kobo has direct integration with Overdrive/Libby! So you can read library books on the Kobo :) Kindle has this feature only for US libraries, I believe. The con is that KU is exclusive to Kindle, of course.
I actually wasn’t excited for House of the Dragon BECAUSE I didn’t love Dany’s chapters in the books as much 😅 I’m into it now tho
My November List:
1. "Memoir of Madness," Kay Jamison (completed)
2. "Upstream," Mary Oliver (working on)
3. "Just So Stories," Rudyard Kipling
4. Beowulf, translated by Raffel Burton (completed)

Emma i think u should make a montage of your add skits.
Hi Emma! Always a pleasure to hear you talk about books
Meditations by Marcus Aurelius and The picture of Dorian Gray by OW
Dombey and Son is one of my favorite Dicken's books. It is so beautiful and powerful. I still remember passages from that book. It marks a turning point in Dickens when he started to have more fully fledged characters. It is probably his first really mature work.
There are some good TV shows based on Dickens, esp. 'Bleak House' from 1985 & 'The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby' from 2000 & 'The Mystery Of Edwin Drood' from 2012 (with Matthew Rhys at his best).
Wild Animus by Rick Shapero
Ice fields by (well you know)
Wintering by Peter Geye
The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
Mordew by Alex Phery
The Republic (Plato of course)
The Magus by John Fowles
Teeth and Mists
2:36 this song is just >>>> hiii Emmie hope this November's tbr is filled with wonders and cozy vibes and frozen mustaches
Emmie for a good hotel set book you NEED to read A gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles!!!!
If you are starting with the Witcher, start with the short stories - they are like the prologues to the main series.
You definitely won‘t be disappointed in the lies of locke lamora. It‘s so unique and well thought out. The world is interesting as well, reminds me a bit of ketterdam from six of crows
just seeing the thumbnail made me smile. you're the cutest!!
Domby and Son is sooooooo good! It will reinstate your faith in Dickens. Just think of it as 400 and something pages a month and it will be less overwhelming lol 😆
I’m actually so into it!! I started it and immediately was hooked, I really think I’m gonna love this one:’)
Hmmm not sure what to read in November. I have A painted winter on my tbr for archeological book club, but i'll have to go through library and see what mood November brings. And i just finished Hare House by Sally Hinchcliffe, which i think you could like. There's snow, but not in magical kind of way, but harsh Scottish kinda way. It's a mystery, although that doesn't really fit the book. It's all about superstitions and blame.
So happy to hear that you're reading "Dombey and Son." If you truly want to study his novels, this, along with Bleak House, Little Dorrit, and David Copperfield are essential. To me, Dombey and Son is the best novel, and the relationship between Florence and Dombey resonates in its complexity.
So relieved that I'm loving it so far, really looking forward to my reading sessions with it now actually! and that's so good to hear!
I just read dombey and son and while I really enjoyed it I found it deeply problematic. On the one hand Edith (who we all love) is so intensely feminist and Mr Toots has Susan pegged as one too. On the other the main character, while I do love her and sympathise with her is just a little too good, a little too perfect. Like when Florence runs away to Captain Cuttle and then refuses to eat but still does all the housework and fixes his drink for him (which offends me), despite the fact that she is not just really weak at this point, but has also never had to do housework of any kind, and has most certainly never had anything to do with alcohol. She is presented as Dicken's perfect woman but she is definitely not a good ideal for women anywhere. To me Jane Eyre is a lot more realistic. She starts out as this meek little child who breaks out so suddenly and rebels, and while she does revert to the good girl character, it does not bring magical rewards for her or erase her independence.
i absolutely love your videos and i save them for when i need to feel cozy and hugged and so thank you
I am mad at my notifs for not notifying me of your video today. Lol
No sleeps were slept... Book title!
It's minus 30 in alberta, no shame in needing to bundle 😂😅
Have you done a review on Wildwood?
How often do you listen to your audiobooks? Do you listen while you workout? Do school work? Drive? Just curious ❤
I was watching this with my partner and he had a rec regarding the witcher books! If you’re not vibing with the novel, give the short stories a try, he says they introduce characters that appear in the novel.
Where did you find the little book planner, it's adorable!!!
Love ur videos, keep up the good work 👍🏻 :))
these are some of my favorite videos you make! it feels like chatting with a friend about what we're going to read next :)
I'm currently listening to the Lies of Lock Lamora on audiobook, and the narrator is so good! I hope you read/listen to it soon cause I'd love to hear what you think
Witcher, I feel, is not going to pan out. But good luck with everything else, this is going to be a long month.
I absolutely love your skits! I’m laying in bed cracking up!. You bring us all little tidbits of joy.😂❤
The lies of locke lamora is one of my favorite fantasy novels ever i definitely recommend that you read it some time!
My November TBR:
Under the Light - Laura Whitcomb (about 35% through)
Jasmine Nights - Julia Gregson (62% through)
The Collector - John Fowles
A Beautiful Poison - Lydia Kang
Shadow & Bone - Leigh Bardugo
Fire & Blood - George RR Martin - note... I have not seen the series!
Escape - Carolyn Jessop
the way when you flipped thru the dickens book when you introduced it, it was so large that the auto caption thought there was applause 💀💀
that look at 0:03 is the look of someone contemplating what led her to adress her audience with the words "hey ya, partner, howdy!"
No sleep was slept ? Don't let it happen again, Miss Emma.
When you are well rested get a copy of Icelandic writer Andri Snaer Magnason's book *On Time and Water - A History of Our Future*. Wonderful !
I'm reading 📚:
Frankenstein
Silas Marner
Pedro Páramo
A Midsummer Night's Dream
The Communist Manifesto (not ironically hahah)
Since you are a literature student, please make a video about which editions of certain books is suitable for a particular reader.
For instance, If someone wants to read Shakespeare's sonnets and plays. which edition from a publisher is suitable for a graduate student of Literature or scholar, which edition is suitable for an average reader and so on.
Also about other writers as well. Such as chaucer and so on.
Please make a video and let us know. That is very good subject for you channel.
I'm gonna try and read Domby and Son with you guys. I've been struggling with Dickens recently. I just want to read Bleak House over and over. Maybe this will help me stick to it.
Those are great! I was wondering if you are going to read The Vampire Lestat soon because of how much you loved Interview With a Vampire.
Maybe you would like A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles? It's a great book about the charming Count Alexander Rostov a Russian aristocrat who is under house arrest in his hotel room so it's all about hotel life. It has a really good narrator too : )
In the midst of reading Les Mis this month since the musical comes to my state in December, so hopefully I can finish it by then! (I’d love to get to Norwegian Wood, Lolita, and some Rilke as well, but we shall see) I hope your reading month is wonderful!! Fingers crossed that Dombey and Son is a hit for you :)
my ex was CONSTANTLY trying to convince me to read the lies of locke lamora while we were dating ahaha its her all time favourite book. she generally has excellent taste in books haha so i would say its probably worth giving it a shot at some point!
Excellent video as usual, even with your sleep deprivation. However, i was distracted all of the way through by your World Map. It's presumably printed in North America, because rather than being centred on the Greenwich Meridian at 0, they've pushed the Americas toward the centre of the map to make it more americo-centric, which unfortunately means that the entire left third of the map is ocean, which is a bit odd. .
Hi! 😁I wouldn't quite recommend starting with the Blood of Elves. There are two books before blood of elves. They are collections of shorter stories and in between those stories you get parts of the story that then continues over the rest of the series. You also get to know Ciri, understand who she is and how Geralt found her. If you want to understand what's happening in the series better and appreciate it more, I would start with the Last Wish, then the Sword of Destiny and then Blood of Elves. Also, Blood of Elves might be a bit boring for you if you haven't read the books before it.
Just my recommendation though. Love your vids. Hope you enjoy the books ❤
Kindle case link!!!!
I'm being a bit ambitious with my TBR this month. Keep in mind I only started reading again this summer so i'm still a bit of a slow reader but i'm trying.
1. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
2. Hallowe'en Party.. Agatha Christie
3. Little Women
I guess it's only 3 books lol
That was so needed!!! Your videos are always right on time for me🥰🥰🥰love u
🥰🥰
I really like an app of audiobooks called Librivox I recommed it. 😉
I would not recommend starting the Witcher series with Blood of Elves. Starting with the last wish and sword of destiny to understand the context of the novel series
You didn't ask, but your center part looks really nice 🙂
Hi Emma! Have you tried Hotel Stories by Ali Smith? I read it at uni, loved it.
just got back from book festival and i see new video from my favorite booktuber, tysm for uploading
