I'd add: don't blame your younger self for not realizing all of this earlier. We need to be gentle to ourselves too, it's ok to not know everything when younger.
If you're ever in a rough patch, imagine yourself from five years in the future telling your present self that everything is going to be okay. It doesn't make much sense, but it works for me.

Hey Daniel, I'm 19 and turning 20. This video will extensively help me on my journey to becoming a young adult/architect in the future. Gonna use this as one of my blueprints in life😊. Greetings from the Philippines 🇵🇭
Yep, you’ll surely apply a lot of Dan’s learnings in your life especially in our industry 😀 Being 25 now, I learned during my college years to never compare my accomplishments to others, and it made free from too much anxiety, tho to this day, I try to enjoy what I have and acknowledge that everything that happens has a purpose ♥️
Honestly this just reminded me of this verse. Jesus said it first! “If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but are yourself lost or destroyed?” Luke 9:24-25 - Thanks for these great videos Daniel, they always hit home!

Instant gratification is what made me start living a zero waste life. I used to think I wasn't making a difference because I wasn't 100% zero waste but after reading Atomic Habits I realized that I actually AM making small differences every day. I LOVE Brene Brown. All her books are just so life changing. She has a podcast now which I highly recommend. 👌
Awesome tips! I'd also add that it can be extremely easy to diminish your own accomplishments when you constantly compare them to the accomplishments of others. People you follow aren't posting about every struggle or failure they have, and when you ONLY see their successes it can start to feel like you aren't keeping up. Focus on recognizing your own improvements because they're easier to see than you might think, and they serve as great motivators :)

Well, I learned one thing from that. I am so grateful that I am autistic. I've never been through the angst described in this video. I am almost 70 years old, and I am extremely happy with my life. I have simple needs and wants. My house is small and the address is unfashionable. My car is small, and it is a cheap second-hand one. I do not seek status symbols because my attitude is, if it does what I want, why pay for a name? I have enough to pay my bills, to be able to afford my cat and my dog, and to have occasional but low-priced treats, largely because I do not chase after status. None of this had to be learned. It came as part of the autistic package. I've never cared what others think of me. I've always focused on what I believe to be important. I've always been grateful for what I've achieved and am satisfied with what that has brought. me. I've always been happy with my character traits, even before I knew that they were the result of autism. After this video, I'm thankful for my autism.
The details are so true. My daughter and son. Just don't take after me.... My mum had a place for everything. ...and if not. And you haven't used with 6 months it goes....!! Well done
It is pointless looking back and wishing we did things differently...and when i was 20 i heard all this advice but it had no effect as these things have to be learned for ourselves.
Thanks Danny! Last night I watched Matt A’Dvella’s video where he shared a similar concept-“Start it before you think you are ready”. You two are my enlighteners of Minimalism. Earlier this year I had started selling unnecessary stuffs and reduce my exposure to phone and social media. Finally I can sit down on a clean room and focus on something that wouldn’t make me feel my day is empty. Can you please share some of you cooking receipts? Would love to see you cooking!
I discovered your channel recently by coincidence... RUclips has since been suggesting your channel a lot to me. Your content is very inspirational, motivational, and well constructed. Keep up the good job! :)
it's never to late to start, your never to young to be succesful. See I'm doing this to break the chain of financial struggle that's plagued my family for generational eons. Hope y'all feel the same!
I have absolutely no debt whatsoever, I gave up on buying 'STUFF" a long time ago, I also have autism, so not too interested in what other are doing or buying. I reckon I am one of the lucky ones - that have turned that corner. I am busy now giving things away, clearing out, becoming minimal - I hate clutter and want it all gone !! Its not worth hanging onto just because you once spent a lot of money buying it!! It is taking up room in your home for no reason whatsoever, you will never get around to using it. Swedish Death Cleansing - clearing out everything you will never use, and save someone else the job of clearing out your stuff, when you die. (You don't need to be ill or old to do this, I am in my 50's now, and don't need half the stuff I have accumulated. We need to be comfortable in our own skin!!!
30 is not old, but I know you don't know that yet. It's around 47 that your body starts to really go south... unless you work out regularly and mind what you eat. Success, i.e., warding off "old age," comes in the form of a permanent lifestyle. Many people underestimate the way food, particularly processed foods, accelerate aging. The metabolic aging effect of fructose is 7x that of glucose. In the United States practically all processed food is sweetened with High FRUCTOSE Corn Syrup. I've been low carbohydrate for almost a decade, most people peg me at 10 years younger than what I am.
We spend 25+ years in school, university and looking for work and when we turn 30, we're already old. Life is so short man... I don't even wish to be alive in 50s and 60s.... Life would just be a struggle in those years. I just wish our bodies could stay young at least until 40s... (Yeah Yeah I know, people can stay healthy and fit even in 40s but I mean at least we feel old and physically mature right since 30s right)...
I do all these things except I have no friends. But I’m a lot happier now than when I had 50+ people I talk to on a daily basis. I love being alone accomplishing things I love and doing things for myself rather than conforming to everyone.
Another great video!! I find being a full time stay at home mom, RUclips allows me to be creative when my kids nap!! Hopefully my home tour will hit the algorithm like your home tour!!

You cited student debt at something looming over you. I think it's important to note that if you got one of the government student loans in the UK then it is more like a tax that you pay when you earn above a certain amount and after 30 years the debt gets wiped. There's a lot to be said on the subject but I think people shouldn't think of this specific type of student loan (UK government scheme only) as a crushing weight on their shoulders.
