Great comedy team, Dean was crazy about Jerry. Jerry was so young filled with energy. I saw Hope interviewed by Jerry many times and he liked him very much. I saw Jerry live he was great! The king of comedy!
Jerry has gone on record in saying “Bing was afraid. He thought i would mess with his toupee. I never talked to him again after that. The fact he didn’t know me well enough to know that i would’ve never done such a thing.” When u see this clip, u can’t tell that at all! Jerry was a crazy back then. I would’ve headed for the hills too. HA!
Read Jerry's Book and No other person can take his slapstick other than Dean. He is so cool and easy going he doesn't get upset. They broke up because it was time to move on and go higher!
Absolutely. Just look at the show above. I don't think anybody else than Dean could take all those Jerry's crazy acts in the show above. The partnership would have broken up quickly after the 1st show, never mind 10 years. Only Dean could do it with Jerry's unstoppable antics for 10 years
@@andresihotang2314 The perfect compliment! And you can tell with their chemistry and Dean's expressions looking at Jerry in so many shows that he got a kick out of him. It made it so fun to watch.
This is excellent and a rare find. I hope there are more out there. J L and DM for the first 6 years of their act were actually hilarious. As Jerry got into his mid 30s he lost most of those funny facial contortions he could no longer do.
I've heard that Bing fled the stage after that moment, and stayed backstage the whole time Martin and Lewis were there. But Hope, after Jerry climbed all over him, and appeared to have kissed him on the mouth, came back over and appeared to have briefly retaliated. Pushed him, or something. He seemed to have an angry look on his face, not smiling as he usually did. Just wondering if he saw the humor in it, or whether he was genuinely annoyed?
Funny how people say "only Dean could tolerate Jerry" as though he was just calm and neutral and gracefully "dealing with it"... but part of what I love about their act is that even though you feel that Dean is cool and stable, he still lashes out at Jerry, shouts, grabs him, shuts him up, smacks him around etc. It's hilarious. It feels like a real tit-for-tat. Even if it was all for laughs, you get the sense that Dean kept him in line, but he also let him go wild, and that was so thrilling to see! Because Jerry also let himself get knocked back into place, too. He wasn't just doing anything he wanted. There were limits and explosions on both sides and it was a real back and forth dance. It was such a symbiotic relationship! Comedy perfection.
I believe this is the show that Abbott and Costello switched partners with Martin and Lewis. Bud Abbott performed Whos on First with Jerry Lewis. Was this segment recorded?
Lewis was trying too damn hard to the point that he was unbelievably annoying. Hats off to Dean for having the patience for so long to deal with Lewis. My gosh. And it definitely was a different time for the audience because it seemed they enjoyed anything.
I think Bob didn't like how Jerry jumped all iver him but he came back out in stage because he was a trooper. Bob and Jerry both had a high opinion of themselves so they likely felt competitive toward one another.

First... Jerry was a massive ad lib talent... but he quickly became full of himself and when he matched up with Bing, who also thought much of himself, well... opposites attract... but likes don't.
His "kissing" of Bing Crosby was a big mistake... Bing never talked to Jerry for the rest of his life... Jerry was a little too full of himself.. and that wasn't funny..😢
What I am wondering is why did Bing Crosby run off stage and not come back out does he not like Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin who doesn't like the stuff they do maybe he didn't want to be a part of it maybe he thinks Jerry Lewis goes a little too far what was the reason there's got to be a reason why😂
Dean at some certain points in the video above look anxiously at backstage, checking where did Bing go or whether Bing was pissed off because of Jerry. Feel sorry for him. Dean could do with all Jerry antics for 10 years, yet Bing Crosby could not even survive a minute with Jerry.
Jerry Lewis is extremely irritating. His character, "the 9 year old", is just stupid. But to late 40s early 50s this was the funniest thing they'd ever seen.
Dino loved him and Jerry loved Dino. That's why it worked. If it were not for the other neither would have made it. They made each other great. They were at their peak during these years. They were almost inseparable
@@kellycaviness4850 Only Dean could take all those Jerry's crazy antics and unstoppable energy show after show for 10 years. I'm sure no one else could be Jerry's partner other than Dean. Just look, Bing could not even survive 1 minute with him. Jerry owed a huge debt to Dino.
Dean's absolute cool tolerance is what made Jerry funny. Jerry's annoying behavior made Dean look adorable. That is why they were so good together.
Deans voice, suave composure and koolness never to be duplicated ..Jerry’s comedic genius is priceless to this day!
Jerry’s energy is incredible.
Great comedy team, Dean was crazy about Jerry. Jerry was so young filled with energy.
I saw Hope interviewed by Jerry many times and he liked him very much. I saw Jerry live he was great! The king of comedy!
I read that The Three Stooges (with Shemp) and Abbott and Costello --as well as many other stars--were also on this telethon special.

Leitch was angry because Crosby dared mess with a bit.
Yeah right, like we are supposed to take his word. This clown, could not be trusted to his dying day.
love this...what a treat to see these stars on top of their game.
Dean Martin, What a dream! Be still my heart!!
Dean must have liked Al Jolson. Throughout his career, every now and then while singing, He would kind of mimic Al here and there.
He was a favourite of Jerry's too
Martin n Lewis the best by far. Love them.
Dean and Jerry are so cool I even forgot about Hope and Crosby's disrespect
This is excellent! Dean and Jerry were always best in front of a live audience.
Read Jerry's Book and No other person can take his slapstick other than Dean. He is so cool and easy going he doesn't get upset. They broke up because it was time to move on and go higher!

BROOKLYN NY, @ 2:03 There's a Big Moth that lands on Bob Hopes Suit Jacket
I didn't notice that the first time!!
This is excellent and a rare find. I hope there are more out there. J L and DM for the first 6 years of their act were actually hilarious. As Jerry got into his mid 30s he lost most of those funny facial contortions he could no longer do.
Dean would like to dedicate this song to a courageous young man - Cosmo Kramer!
Bing got off the stage before Lewis messed with Crosby's toupee. Even Hope was upset when Lewis jumped all over him when introduced.
Lots of energy, dancing and great singing by Dean. But jumping on Hope is incredibly stupid,, unnecessary and unfunny.
@@Better_Call_Raul Actually it was very funny
Lewis scared Bing. He never messed with Jerry after that, and never forgave him. He was too aggressive for his taste.
To sensitive?
@ensconse Can't help looking at Dean above for some moments. He was caring about Bing, where did he go or did he get upset because of Jerry?

I had this video saved then it got privated so thank you so much for posting it on your channel
Thank you for sharing!
We remember when Bob & Bing did a Olympic benefit in 1976 for the Montreal Olympics.
The fact that Crosby got off the stage because he geniuenly got angry at Jerry is so funny
This is amazing
Jerry had a manic, Robin Williams type vibe back then.

I love Dean’s enthusiastic participation in these telethons and TV series. His performance in the movies was too diminished
Genius Jerry Lewis. So funny!!!!!
Jerry definitely has his nose reduced around 1955
Lewis was trying too damn hard to the point that he was unbelievably annoying. Hats off to Dean for having the patience for so long to deal with Lewis. My gosh. And it definitely was a different time for the audience because it seemed they enjoyed anything.
Where did this film clip come from? I was looking for Abbott and Costello s segment
this is so hectic XDDD
Las Olimpiadas del #telethon Muy interesantes

I would love to see The Three Stooges segment please 🙏
Jerry was high as a kite
The more I see their skits, I see why Dean got tired with the act
I heard Jerry saying that he and Bing didnt care for each other. I can see here.

Dean wanted to perform with Jerry like Bob & Bing did - sometimes together - most times not. But Jerry wouldn’t do it.
Jerry Lewis is extremely irritating. His character, "the 9 year old", is just stupid. But to late 40s early 50s this was the funniest thing they'd ever seen.
I think hes still pretty hilarious
Lewis is insufferable. Deano is too cool.
they play off each other, that’s why it works - the slapstick & the straight man.
