@@TeddGCM Partly true but By this time Dean's drinking and percodan use had gotten much worse. Him and Frank look a little wasted here too. Probably the only thing that gave Dean courage to do this. I could imagine them saying, cmon lets have another drink and go surprise Jerry. It never rekindled any relationship really. More of a one off.

I think I remember Jerry having said he strode out like bullfighter or something. He was trying to keep his composure and his body language showed that, but Dean cracked a tiny bit and Frank was trying to keep them both in character and in control. Dean wiping Jer's tear was very sweet and impulsive.

This video makes me cry. I watched the MDA Telethon every year without fail. I watched it for a late as I could into the night and as soon as I got up in the morning. My Dad developed ALS in 1980 and died in 1985. He was one of Jerry's oldest kids. I will never forgive what MDA did to Jerry. He raised billions for them, and they kicked him to the curb like a dog they didn't want anymore. And now I just read they are $25 million in the hole for 2022.

    A couple of things:
If you listen closely as Dean walks up, Jerry says “you son of a bitch. Shoulda been a Jew that did it” to Frank. Jerry HATED surprises but this was one he loved.
Second, when Jerry says to Dean, “You workin’?”, that’s an in joke between them two because that’s the first thing he said to Dean when they first met 30 years prior.
Even after 20 years apart they could still riff off each other and make it look natural. “You’re always going.” “Well I’m always drinkin’!” 🤣🤣

I miss this kind of Hollywood, these days, a part of America we'll never get back. When entertainment didn't require showing off the majority of your body. I feel so sad for this generation of youngsters. Such a loss of innocence at such young ages. Children weren't in such a hurry to grow up. A time when the roadside signage wasn't full of half dressed women.

Patty Lewis, ex wife to Jerry, said she and her kids were sitting down first row then booooom people came up to them and told them to move...then Sinatra's wife and kids were ushered in to those seats, all the doors were locked to prevent anyone in or out and Frank had has own photographer there..only. Well old blue eyes is the chairman of the board after all. Magical Hollywood. Golden era !!!

I have worked at the Telethon answering the phones and sorting the pledge envelopes in Bad Axe, Mich. One year the phone center was at sheriff's office and they put me in charge of making the popcorn for people making a donation to the MDA. I miss the Telethon and I was angry they fired Jerry because he devoted so much time to raise money. RIP Jerry.

Jerry made the comment that because Frank was friends with both of them got tried being asked how the other was doing? So that want got him thinking about maybe pulling this off.

They always say he really wasn't drinking....obviously the act buried the truth....always thought this reunion was awkward...but it was exciting....loved Martin and Lewis as a kid....idolized Lewis.....but over the years couldn't handle his ego.

Will never classy guys like these again. In Boston, one of our local TV personalities would send out kits to have your own carnival to raise money for M.D.. Never missed the telethon and I remember seeing this part. I wad only 15 but I knew what it meant to have Dean reunite with Jerry. I loved Frank , which was perfect to have him reunite them. R.I.P. guys!!
