    Man I'm pumped about this one! This is my new custom long range precision rifle and also my first ever .338 Lapua Magnum build. So what is it? Here we go, Alamo Precision Rifles put together a 26" Bartlein MTU barrel with AAC 90T muzzle brake and Defiance Rukus Tactical action. They also installed the awesome Trigger Tech Diamond 2-stage trigger. APR also went ahead and cerakoted the assembly in FDE. Once I received it, I dropped it into my Accuracy International AICS AX chassis. I'm using a WieBad Gear cheek piece, B&T Atlas Bipod, and short action precision 2 round holder. Optic setup is the amazing Vortex Razor HD II 4.5-27x56 with Horus H59 reticle & Vortex Precision Matched 34mm rings. Lastly, I'm using the US Optics side folder bubble leveler. And that's the build! In this video we go through it and stretch it out to 2,000 yards with Hornady 285gr ELD-M. Really looking forward to getting my suppressor so we can go again but more "quietly." Here are some applicable links to the build:
    Vorte Razor HD II: amzn.to/3h55x4E
    Vortex Rings/Mount: amzn.to/2Cz1leq
    US Optics Bubble Level: amzn.to/3iMFXSz
    Atlas Bipod: amzn.to/3h8VThr
    Pelican Vault V800 Hard Case: amzn.to/347Rzv8

      @bathshebahubber614 3 года назад

      @@csmac3144a Never heard of suppressors being mandatory in Europe, but they are definitely encouraged because they're generally seen as a health & safety improvement as they minimise potential hearing damage and lower muzzle blast. In the few places in Europe where there are american-style barrel length restrictions suppressors can even make life as a gun owner easier since the length of the can is counted to the length of the gun as it is assumed it stays on during use. It's one of the few things that Europe is more well off compared to the US regarding firearms legislation. It's just a shame that on a continent where cheap suppressed carbines with 10 inch barrels are a legit possibility for the average gun owner, it's very hard to market one with a fun switch.

    I have a ALAMO rifle build in 6.5 creedmore and it has been the most accurate rifle I've shot. Those guys have it together!! That's a great looking 338 you just can't go wrong with alamo.

    How heavy is it? The 338 really seems like the perfect compromise for a lot of factors, except overall weight imo, so I'm really curious. Oh, and yes, Vortex truly is an awesome company and their gear is solid.

    I was looking for a mile plus gun and considered the 338lm and the 300prc. Ultimately went with the 300prc because it shoots targets at that range as well or better, and factory ammo was available for $2/rd instead of $5.

    I do enjoy my Savage b111 338 savage. It's pricey. But what I am looking for is a optic that isn't the cost of a used vehicle currently. I do enjoy the vortex and I'm looking at the venom 5x25x56 so far. But I do not know how it can handle the recoil. I have the three port muzzle brake on tip. When you shoot it's a nice push. But I don't want to spend the money to find out I chose unwisely. Especially when it's pulling the trigger is between 6 and $7 a pull. It's not like shooting a 223? At all?

    Great video! You make look so easy! Any ideas on the 300 PRC instead of the 338? Did you consider changing the brake with a larger one for more recoil mitigation?

    • @TexasPlinking
      @TexasPlinking  4 года назад +2

      I've heard the 300 PRC has significant advantages but I just wanted to tick the .338 Lapua box haha. I'd like to get a 300 PRC built out sooner than later. And as far as the brake, I just wanted to make sure I could use my suppressor for when I get it and there is no bigger brake with the 90T mount. The recoil really isn't bad at all with this configuration though. I'm curious to see what it's like suppressed.
