Crocs (or their imitators are awesome as a camp shoe. Light, comfortable, dry quickly, easy to put on. I put mine in my shovel pouch.
Thomas Maresh , after a long day hike when I put on my Crocs , my feet are thanking me.
Light??! Crocs are one pound!
Another great video. I love the footage at the start. Where was the lake you were cooking at? I agree with you about crocs. Even if the strap at the back breaks you can still use them. Only drawback, my wife says they are ugly.
I could listen to this for hours. Amazing video! So glad I found your channel
Thank you for watching and your comment Geoffrey. I really appreciate it.
That river looks beautiful!
And they make a great water source too. The superior hiking trail is full of beautiful river, creeks, and lakes.

Thank you Oscarsalesgirl for watching. I really appreciate it.
There are some medical slippers called medline sure grip slippers. They are like socks with rubber soles, and weighs less than 2 ounces a pair. You could use the sole and make a sandal. No toe protection though.
I like that idea Robert. Always keep improvising. Thank you for that comment.
I'm using down shoes on cold weather hikes. It's just nice to slip into warm soft shoes at the end of the day. If it's really cold I also wear them in the sleeping bag. To make up for the weight increase, I'm using only a 2/3 thermo pad (about 50 inches long) in my hammock, which works perfectly for me: Torso /butt is protected by pad and feet are protected by down booties, and if I move during sleep they may even hang out of the hammock without getting cold.
Since the down booties have double use in my system, I don't really consider them luxury items. For rainy days, I'm using those surgeon plastic thingies, to protect the boots from getting wet/ dirty.
Very wise 9aus. I love how you improvised. Thank you for sharing that and watching. i really appreciate it.
Thanks for the overview. Always wondered about the Xero shoes. Glad I opted for Crocs.
The Xero shoes are light weight and well made. But they don't protect your feet like Crocs. I can not take a chance of injuring my feet when I am in the wilderness. It is good to hear from you OldPackMule.
The end of the video got me, hahaha:)
Thank you for watching Caleb Leichty.
I know the video is almost 2 years old now - but a quick comment on the Xero shoes in case you haven't already figured it out... if you adjust all the straps once, and only use the velcro strap on the heel to put them on/off, it cuts down on much of the strap frustration and no need to readjust the instep. Still not nearly as quick and easy as the Crocs, though :)
Thank you for sharing that swwilliams15. I really like them. I wear them in the summer time are town. And I still have brought them on a trip or two.
I'm a flip flop guy all the way. Only time I switch to crocks is times where it's cold and want to keep my socks on. I use my flip flops as sitting pad also. I never go camping without them. I fact. When not carrying a heavy load I hike in them, no problems.
Flip flops are very light and pack-able. But it seems that I am always on rough train at camp. (Hilly and rocky). I hate stubbing my toes. Most of the times, I will use the Crocs. But I did use the flip flops twice last year.
@@AdventureswiththeMarine I hear you. Crocs do give more protection in the toe area. Almost as light weight just a bit more bulky. I'll take that bulk because I think having footwear around camp is very important.
I use the Xero Shoe, but I would use the Crocks if they made them in a 15. Great video Brother! Thanks!
I am between a 13.1/2 to 14. The largest that I could find for Croc's are 13. I don't know if you can special order them.
I love crocs
nice useful video but dude! your intro is 1:04! :/
No more long intro's. I promise. Thank you for watching and your comment Bunny Kramer. I really appreciate it.
Great job. Thank you.
Thank you for watching Imran. I really appreciate it.
Check out Imago by Mayfly Ultralight Equipment. 2 oz
Thanks for the heads up. I will sure check it out.
crocs for the win!
I have been giving the others another try again on my trips. Since I loss my Crocs a year ago on the Boarder Route Trail. Just bought another pair of Crocs. Crocs win again. Thank you for watching Sensatious Hiatus. I really appreciate it.
The crocs are my choice
I was up in the BWCA two weeks ago. They where the only footwear that I brought with. Even for portaging the Kayaks and Canoe. Thank you for watching IC CE Lover.
Any worry with bugs, spiders or scorpions getting in the shoes sitting on the ground? I keep my shoes in a tent right now, but would be afraid of what I might find in the morning or worse, in the middle of the night.
If I am in a area where there is poisonous spiders or snakes. I will tie my shoe laces together an hang them on the continuous loop that is connected to the end of the hammock. Well off the ground . Also that way they get aired out.
Use a carabiner to attach it to your hammock straps and it’ll be off the ground. Also, stuffing folded socks into the shoes can be an extra degree of protection
no camp shoes, use your water shoes, for camp shoes....
Thank you Philip for sharing that. Good stuff.
Crocs are VERY SLIPPERY when wet!! CAUTION!!!
Always use hiking poles when crossing streams or on wet rocks. Thank you for watching and sharing that Mr. Lovell. I really appreciate it.
Subscribed. ⛰️🥾🌲
Thank you Iblame Summers for watching and subscribing. I really appreciate it.
none of these help in cold weather
That is a different ball game. I will be doing a video on that subject this winter. Thank you Kevin for watching and your comment.
please do..wet weather camp shoe solutions would be appreciated as well. i don't want to pack multiple pairs of shoes but i'm running out of options
I wear my winter model Blundstones for backpacking in the winter! They come with a removable sheep skin/wool insole, offer enough support for most of the hiking I do and most importantly are comfortable enough to wear around camp even after a long hike!
They also make lined Crocs now, not sure if you seen them or how warm they are!
