I only collect SGC. they just look the best to me with the black borders. I am getting into Arena Club too. Owned by Jeter, they have a vault system and also show you what the issue with card was and highlight the imperfections so you can see how it got the grade it did...no guessing what happened. Thanks for sharing!

From the PSA website: A PSA VG-EX 4 card's corners may be slightly rounded. Surface wear is noticeable but modest. The card may have light scuffing or light scratches. Some original gloss will be retained. Borders may be slightly off-white. A light crease may be visible. Centering must be 85/15 or better on the front and 90/10 or better on the back.
On that Rodgers PSA 4? GIVE ME A BREAK.

The only other thing I can think of on the Bowmans Best Rodgers Auto is the centering and that the grader didn’t know that these cards were made this way. To a unknowledgeable person the card looks off centered pretty bad since the R in Rookie is getting cut off the card. Since PSA is not doing OC qualifiers anymore or the person sent it in before they stopped and chose no qualifiers, it would have dropped the grade 2 points to start with. Any other imperfection would drop it from there. It’s surely a horrible grade for that card and could mean that PSA has not trained their new folks well. Graders need to have some hobby knowledge and have some training before they touch any card. It’s like taking someone who can’t swim and making them a lifeguard.

I am so glad this video has been published and a true longtime collector took the time to resubmit his cards for a second “Artificial Intelligence” scan opinion . It is frustrating to see this video knowing well in the last six months I have been going on a regular to our local tradeshows and card shows here in industry California and talking to long time hobbiest. Former PSA employees who run tables at these shows some of the most respected graders with more than 20 years of experience warned that there was an ongoing grading problem at PSA that was surfacing as inconsistent mid-upper/lower grades were returning. I made a post comment on another influencers take on PSA with the early returns after the shut down. I held off on submitting to PSA just based on what I was hearing from the card dealers who worked for PSA. One of the things that they said was it is not the longtime hobby community siting down with PSA to standardize the hobby and instead it’s running wild on their own current incompetent staff or methods deciding what should and should not be a partial grade with a skeleton workforce facing a tsunami of submissions. On the other hand PSA is still the or was the most respected grading service company “in the world”. This video does support or expose that there are some serious flaws to the grading methods at PSA right now.
From all the grading companies I decided to submit to HGA for a few reasons but one of the most that stuck out was the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to pre-screen cards. Now on the flipside the calibration of AI may be a tad bit too rigid (tight) however it does give a more accurate or close to accurate analysis of the cards condition and flaws.
Now unlike the comic book hobby where the older collectors (Overstreet) of vintage comics worked with CGC to standardize their hobby and narrow down the suspect grading in contrast it appears that the card hobby is in a period of the “Wild West” where the companies who are now being bought out with the bottom dollar profit aim and not helping the hobbyist is coming to light with videos like this.
The more videos that surface with hobbiest cracking their PSA slabs and re-submitting to “AI” pre-scan grading companies the worse it’s going to get for PSA much sooner than later. I much rather (deal, grade, buy, sell, trade) in HGA for now over PSA.
HGA is not perfect. They have some flaws and have some things they could improve on; for instance a barcode scanning label for a pop report analysis and so forth. But overall the question of “AI Calibration” does give credibility to the Hobby if it can be transparent.
I had to pull off the road for this comment because I’ve watch this entire video twice.
One last comment… in a civil court room this video along with maybe one or two more videos supporting suspect grading incompetence by PSA is sufficient enough to support a justified class action lawsuit on behalf of hobbiest who submitted for full refunds and loss of time from PSA.
Have a nice day everybody and stay positive enjoy the Hobby. Excuse the hands free mic recording typos.

PSA also determined that my BGS cross over service were trimmed. They said 4 of 5 were trimmed inside the case. How they determined that inside the Beckett case is insane. The same 4 cards were broken out of the BGS slabs and resent a few years later and they all graded. Not only did they grade, they were all bumped up from the original BGS grades. These were early Beckett slabs when they were really tough. Good job PSA.

I waited because of the long wait, and then I saw the HGA viral post (for our hobby) in which one of their artists accidentally used another artist's painting for a Tua custom slab. Not only did the custom slab look slick, once they found out about the gaff, they paid the artist for his work and eventually HIRED HIM to their staff. Once I saw that.... it was an immediate switch. Now I have several very nice slabs from HGA.

I watched them change a PSA 8 to a PSA 10 live at a card show, because the person was an elite customer, who spent big money with them. He said "I spend X amount of money with your company every year, do something for me" Handed them the card, came back an hour later and brand new Gem Mint 10 Ken Griffey Jr. Platinum SB Spirit. For years I have wished that if you get a PSA grade that makes you go “huh????”, that they would take the extra 3 minutes and let you know why. It would solve sooooo much of the issues like this. If they messed up on this guy’s Rodgers card, they would have caught it at the “huh” stage because they couldn’t provide a reason for the 4.
I got a pack fresh 1974 Rose in a PSA 4 about 6 years ago and still don’t know why.
I do still use PSA because I’m trying to complete sets all in PSA holders. For the most part I’ve been happy with my grades like in my recent 71 and 56 Topps reveal videos. But info like yours and the guy in the video, plus the lack of 10s, has me a bit concerned. I won’t/cant submit anything until they catch up.
Thanks for your honest content. Some people are afraid to speak their mind, and won’t take a side. I admire you for having no filter or agenda. You’re a passionate collector.

This isn't with everyone, but the fact that HGA shows sub grades ( which can clearly explain why one grader may have seen something and another agreed ) shows clearly some mistakes are being made, or they are giving out favorable grades.
Issue is, its not just middle tier or even upper echelon cards, its the 1-5$ cards too. Its the 20-50$ cards.
Perhaps a batch of graders has a different grading idea than others, because I've had good experience recently ( a normal PSA 8, 9 and 10 allotment ) but I've also seen some bad ones.
There's been a few cards I have gotten back, not many where I disagreed greatly with the grade... perhaps a re sub would move them up 1 grading point at a diff company, but if I had some minty cards and they crapped on my submission and I really checked them out, then sent them somewhere else and the grades went up 3, 4 or even 5 grades id be a little suspicious and cautious about PSA as a whole.
And anyone that knows anything about PSA, knows they do tend to favor certain groups and individuals who are dropping big bucks at their company.

And I've seen 9s that are in better condition than 10s of the same card graded at the same time, where the 10 is clearly off center but the 9 looks perfect. PSA also sometimes catches the card in the inside lip of the slab putting a crease in it but still sends it back as a 10. The consistency between graders and over time is terrible as well. I’m constantly shopping on eBay for graded cards, and some of the PSA 10’s I’ve seen are absolutely disgraceful. Super poor centering, soft corners etc. When you see shit like that, as consistently as I do, you know their company is a sham! Ever since that little oiled up pimp weasel Nat Turner took over, they’ve really gone downhill. The dude was bought and paid for by the elite and celebrity collectors, and appointed to protect “their” investments via population control. The writing is on the wall, and plain as day to see…and until more people turn their backs on them, they’ll continue to control the false narrative of cream of the crop.

If PSA didnt exist I would throw all my cards away! You want to talk about dirty and disloyal? The sports card "community" is a group of selfish individuals. Without grading companies there was all sorts of fraud and robbery.
Quick experience. I remember buying a Ricky Henderson rookie with what was a lot of money to me at the time for 35$ from a card store(I was young didn't really consider condition much just a huge fan). He goes on to have an amazing career and I remember some years later(maybe 10) and the card was worth about 275$. I had others in my collection that looked nicer so I thought I would sell one of them. I took it to a card shop and the guy offered me 40$!!! THAT was the card industry in the past! Don't talk about people getting robbed because the grade he recieved was worse than expected.

The model T revolutionized transportation for the average American but I wouldn’t want to drive one today, other than nostalgia purposes. It’s no longer practical or efficient. A decentralized AI would have the ability to offer true objective results without manipulation. When and who truly provides that has yet to be proven, only claimed.

How doesn't PSA at least owe this guy a refund or some sort of restitution? They aren't just off by a grade here. If I get the wrong order or bad food at a restaurant, they fix my order or take some $ off my bill. If the auto store I go to gives me the wrong tires for my car, they'll refund me the difference or put the right tires on at no additional charge. How can PSA run a business with no customer service, no customer interaction, or no explanation as to the sales and service they provide? Shame on us for continuing to allow this to happen. We fuel the fire by continuing to submit cards through PSA. Not that other grading companies don't have some of the same problems, but there need to be standards and consequences for grading companies. Maybe cards valued above a certain amount (say $200 maybe) should come with a stipulation that allows you to challenge the grades for a small fee and if you win your challenge there should be a refund and new grades applied to your cards. However for Bulk Value, economy, and regular submission, my grades were actually on par or above my expectations, including some key 90s cards that would be only worth in the low hundreds as a PSA 9 but because they gave me a PSA 10, they were worth well in the 4 figures and I got a big upcharge. I heard a rumor that they have specific graders only working on value, economy, regular subs, and another group of graders that grades Express and above levels and they seem to be much much harsher. With that said I have submitted 3 separate Super Express orders as well and all 3 orders pretty much came back with the grades I expected with no surprises.
