I heard a tip recently that you should use thick card sleeves with the card savers- they are a little bit wider, so less likely to catch a corner of the card, and easier for the grader to remove the card from the sleeve.
i have seen psa 10 with surface scratch. This was on the 2020 Select. The scratch was pretty small. But if you have a long scratch probably the highest grade you might get is a psa 9 or 8.
I really appreciate RUclips channel. I started collecting, back in the 1980s, then stopped. I’m just starting to get back into collecting; I am using collecting for investment, for myself and grandsons. While I had some idea about grading I never would have thought it was so intense. Also, I really wasn’t sure what sets to invest with; there are a lot more sets available, today, than 40 years ago. I did watch your sports cards 101. I’m looking forward to expanding my knowledge, thru your channel, and if they are interested, passing that on to my grandsons. Thank you
Im with ya, I just got back into it as well, opened up a pack and got a Gold rare Scottie Barnes #4 out of 10 and Scottie's number is 4 and that's what collectors want so my card can be worth more then any of the others and by a LOT especially if it hits a 10

I also wish you would submit some of those with print lines and super minor defects so we can see how PSA grades them, for the sake of us, the viewers. :)
I'll still send a good deal of cards in even if I only think they will grade a 9. With this latest PSA price increase, you're going to see PSA 9's card values rise further above the value of a raw version of the same card.
I think that will happen eventually, but not for quit a while yet. The issue is the massive backlog at psa is the issue. The market will be flooded with so many graded cards. I think we will be ok with the higher end cards, but the days of every card being graded and prices skyrocketing is almost over, and that is for the better. Every card being in a slab cheapens the whole idea.

Scratches on card are so hard to find you need a nice light to find them I noticed buying raw cards on eBay a high percentage will have scratches and the seller will list as mint
Hope somebody can answer my question. I'm noticing that some of the 90s cards grade well with PSA despite having obvious edge issues or some corner wear. I'd just like to know if they adjust their standards for these modern cards vs the ultra modern cards? Or maybe they grade the older cards in comparison with how they've graded the same card before? 90's is junk wax era...with it all about $ obviously they can afford to give the junk wax era some love to keep the $ rolling in.I love the flashy new cards but ill never buy or collect anything above 1979.
Confused.....The grading prices seem very low compared to the new PSA grading prices. Is this an old video? And why are you basing your estimated value at raw prices? PSA clearly states the estimate should be what the value would be after the card is graded.

Lol pre screen cards lol go directly with Beckett they don’t give away 10’s 72 cards 2 10’s one was black labeled lol mostly 9.5 couple 9’s 2 7.5’s. Bad centring I think lol good work though.
It's difficult for me to submit any card for grading when these companies want a percentage of it's value even when I have no intention of selling the card.

We understand you will not know the True Value of the item until it is authenticated, so we ask that you form a realistic, educated guess based on your own research, keeping in mind the Declared Value is also used for insurance purposes. This seems to be contrary to what Geoff showed in the video. I would be concerned that if something happened to your card, you would only be insured for the value that you entered as Declared Value.

This is what makes me wonder why people love graded cards to me it makes no sense unless your wealthy and OCD or just want to take advantage of people who are by selling them PSA graded cards
I notice some of the cards hes not taking out of the plastic, and he's saying this one is ready to go.....but if he doesn't take the card out of the plastic sleeve then how can you tell if the surface is good, the sleeve gives off a glare also.....dont you have to take it out of the sleeve and look at the card raw to find any surface issues??

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. My grandfather's collection was passed down to me. Various years and sports such as hockey cards from the 50's I believe (could be wrong). He was also in a semi famous band back in the 60's called The Five Americans, I am not sure if that gives the collection more value but I have thousands of cards and have no idea how to even start getting them valued and graded especially since I can't afford to get each card graded. Any tips or advice?
Doesn't PSA say that printing imperfections that don't distract from the appearance of card could still get a 10? Also see a giant fingerprint on the Tyler Herro green lol
I have a question regarding surface. Sometimes I will be able to see what looks like print lines or a faint scratch with the naked eye and a light source. However, when I put the 10x magnifier to it with a light source, there's no indent or damage to the card, I don't see the print line or whatever it is I'm seeing with my naked eye. Does this happen to you and in these cases what do you do about submitting if the card otherwise looks perfect?

I just know that they've not been used in any way other than to be stored in too loading screens ... I'm confused with PSA being closed? Also, I've seen some valuable cards on places like ebay that don't have a PCA grade that are going for a substantial price not much difference than the grade ones

PSA's center grading sucks for less expensive cards. Everyone flooding them with lower value cards, so you pay them more for the extra attention they're giving your valuable card. Also probably why they have a good reputation, all their expensive cards are actually being graded properly. Personally I think AI grading companies like AGS is the future.
I sent in my cards this past August and PSA is still not even halfway through the grading process. 9 months later. I don't have much of a choice other than to sell ungraded.

7:55 corners centering edges surface, clean them put in card savers wipe with microfiber cloth
(Hold by edges while doing it so no fingerprints)

When looking at cards for grading you must remove all personal feelings. Period.

Hi, so the reason why the older cards grade better. So the standards are higher than more modern cards. So typically they will let more things slide 😀

Joe probably pre-screens 100% HARDER than his other staff.... Apparently EVERY card I sent was perfect. Joe's staff likely Do NOT screen that well...

Is this an old video? The bulk submission prices were off. They start at 20 now. Video showed 16 after your fees added.
The pricing is shown on the spreadsheet in the video as $20 for ultra modern (2018+) but the card being reviewed was pre-2018 which is $16.
