Great question. Yes. Depending on the issue and depending on the type of stock the card is printed on you'd want to understand what can and cannot be used. For example: Mosaic / Prizm / Topps Chrome / Finest all have a metal like card stock for the front. Those you can usually use something like Kurt's without worry outside of any foil stamping on serial numbered cards. Even then you can just be careful. If i was asked, I would tell you. There's nothing to disclose though because there's nothing on the card. Also I don't use Kurt's or Mr. Minty or any of the card polishes. This particular video was a review of Kurt's kit.
So will this work on old back style pokemon cards. Don't need it for the Holo as they are pack fresh it's just the back on a few that has light print lines or surface scratches. It's been in a pack since 1998. Will this work for something like that. Cause if it can then these will definitely get a 10 as they are flawless otherwise.
Best way I can describe it is. A scratch is something that is added so it can removed (depending on severity). A Print line is something that isn't even there and you can't add to what is missing. A print line isn't a something that a printer printed. It's a line that appears when the machine skips that part. That is why lines are always vertical or horizontal. Literally it's missing the coded ink for that entire line.
@@user-xf2tl8ee3c Also, scratches are typically much smaller & jagged (best word I can come up with aka they are NOT a straight line), while majority of print lines are straight as an arror and run the length of the card from one edge to the other. As you can see w/ this JJ, the back of Mosaics are absolutely notorious for having dozens of print lines running horizontally. Last summer I cleaned, prepped, & then graded literally 65 TLaw Mosaic rookies for a customer, and ALL the hobby cards (the #ed as well as the Genesis & Honeycomb), had the same exact print line pattern (about .5" thick that looked like 1 big print line but was really 20+ lines packed tightly together) that ran across where the logo is on the top half on the back. BUT not a single one of the retail cards (ie the regular parallels like silver, green, pink, etc) had this issue. Was so strange especially since they came from all diff boxes). Btw, PSA could pretty much care less about the print lines on the back, as every single card got a 9 or 💎, which I already knew was the case when grading Mosaic. I also utilize a scope (Tomlov 10"), which hands down a🔬is the BEST investment for anyone trying to make $ grading, as I am sure Manger can attest to. Great video, you really showed the entire process well without rushing thru & explained what you were doing.👌 Sorry for the novel lol

Hi Darryl, A lot of these types of scratches typically are caused by folks that do slow rolls or slide the cards when they are going through the pack. These can also be caused by simply loading a card into a top loader that is a bit snug.
Hi there, For Pokémon cards I'd use Kurt's Card Care product. He has demos on his channel. Meguire's is way too abrasive for anything outside of chrome/prizm type cards.
No problems. It's when folks restore color and such is where they'd note that it's been altered. Typically on chrome/prizm type surfaces there's no issues. This Jefferson came back a PSA 10.

Try a video with a Bowman Chrome that has surface scratches. If you can turn 9s into 10s it would result in you never having to work another day in your life. Sadly, no one has come up with a product that can fix the Bowman. Someone needs to work on that then you have money in a product.

@@frostyfeetcards Thank you.
It may. I wouldn't use compound. I'd try Gold Class paste wax but that's as far as I'd go with paper. Try on a throwaway card first to see.
Will it work on Yu-Gi-Oh cards too?
You gotta be careful but yes
Is print lines the same as scratches?
Best way I can describe it is. A scratch is something that is added so it can removed (depending on severity). A Print line is something that isn't even there and you can't add to what is missing.
A print line isn't a something that a printer printed. It's a line that appears when the machine skips that part. That is why lines are always vertical or horizontal. Literally it's missing the coded ink for that entire line.
@@frostyfeetcards I get to! You explained that well . Thank you
@@user-xf2tl8ee3c Also, scratches are typically much smaller & jagged (best word I can come up with aka they are NOT a straight line), while majority of print lines are straight as an arror and run the length of the card from one edge to the other.
Thanks for the tips. What is up with the fingernails though?
At the time of this video my daughter was 2 and a half and painting my nails was something she was obsessed with. She's 4 now so she's moved on to other things that make her happy that don't require me to have to be a guinea pig.
Do you think this would work on old reverse holo pokemon cards as well?
I would say Meguires is way too aggressive for pokemon cards. I'd use Kurt's Card care product for that.
@@frostyfeetcards thanks I’ll try it on a newer cheap card before I try a older wotc halo lol is this considered polishing ? If so I don’t think it’s that bad it’s preserving the cards .
Will this work for prizm card's?
Yes, but not on print lines. Only scratches
@@frostyfeetcards thanks cause I have just that issue,. No print lines, but a little scratch. Your video was right on time too. thank you 👍
@@drawstraw4483 Best of luck!
Great little video! Very informative and you make a scary process look simple. Going to try this out myself. How did the Jefferson card grade?
@Jay Wilde It came back a PSA 10. You can see it a few videos later. Just posted a video on restoring an older Kobe Bryant Atomic Refractor as well
Will this not get penalized by graders for altering
It's not altering. There's nothing there.
@@frostyfeetcards okay. Are you familiar with the panini certified piece of the game patch cards? I got one yesterday and it had very light surface scratches on it. Would this work on it you think
Very possible. scratches on the card though I assume and not the patch?
@@frostyfeetcards yeah on the card. And they are barely visible I had to use a grading glass to see clearly. I could see them with naked eye and a lot of light but barely
Feel free to dm me on Instagram and shoot me a pic
I use mcguires and a dremel with a few different grits. Comes put real buff.
lol
will it work on vintage pokemon?
From my experience yes. Still do some trial and error before you get into your cherished pile.
ive used this stuff on the lightest scratches and it didnt do anything
Being honest here. Kurt's stuff does work ok. But I've gone back to Meguire's. Just my preference.
@@frostyfeetcards ive used it on the most faint scratches and it did absolutely nothing, maybe lightened it a tad bit at most. better off leaving it as is
@@HIGH535 Sometimes that is the best option for sure.
Meguires ultimate wax?
@@augsworthprice565 Yes, Meguire's Ultimate Compound
Are these scratches cause by a human scratching it or are they factory errors?
Hi Darryl,
A lot of these types of scratches typically are caused by folks that do slow rolls or slide the cards when they are going through the pack. These can also be caused by simply loading a card into a top loader that is a bit snug.
great insight into it.
Dam wish i seen this before i sent in my bowman autos lol my biggest card had a faint scratch this would've helped alot! subbed!
Thank you!
Depending on how it grades maybe Crack the slab and use this method and resubmit to grading.
What about pokemon holofoils? I have a bunch of cards without whitening or corner issues but very slight scratches
Hi there,
For Pokémon cards I'd use Kurt's Card Care product. He has demos on his channel. Meguire's is way too abrasive for anything outside of chrome/prizm type cards.
What did psa grade it
@J-Huy This was a cpuple of years back but I think 2 videos later I show that we got a psa 10.
I have a bowman speckle auto /299 just making sure this is ok to use on it probably yes but I wanted to be 100% sure before I actually tried lol
I'd be careful with autos if you don't have 100% confidence in cleaning them. You might make it a non auto.
I thought psa said this would be considered an altered card have you had any problems grading cards you’ve had to touch up
No problems. It's when folks restore color and such is where they'd note that it's been altered. Typically on chrome/prizm type surfaces there's no issues. This Jefferson came back a PSA 10.
@@frostyfeetcards I actually ordered some of this stuff and was going to try it out. Do you have any recommendations on something use for anything that might be a little deeper
@@screwydrewy7027 I use either Meguire's Ultimate Compound or Chemical Guys VSS Swirl and Scratch remover for deeper scratches.
@@screwydrewy7027did you try it?
@@edeka3 no I personally only used a microfiber cloth to clean my cards and honestly this did a pretty damn good job
Who's here after he beat TAG Grading's fingerprint identification video?
Try a video with a Bowman Chrome that has surface scratches. If you can turn 9s into 10s it would result in you never having to work another day in your life. Sadly, no one has come up with a product that can fix the Bowman. Someone needs to work on that then you have money in a product.
I've done plenty of Bowman Chrome cards. Feel free to check out some of my reveals. I do a complete breakdown on the cards, flaws and results post cleaning. Kurt's product does very little for legitimate flaws.
@@frostyfeetcards Have you done Amy snap out 9s or 8s and turned em into 9s and 10s after scratch repair?
@@TheCardDeal Absolutely. Keep in mind. Scratches are what you'd ideally want as most minor and even some more severe scratches can be removed.
@@frostyfeetcards Cool, please post your video link for that. Thank you
What kind of microscope is that

More dads need to be like you
Uh-oh. Get ready for PSA to decertify those two cards you flashed. They are on a rampage now. As for me, i love the product and end results. And i only grade w SGC
nah, they'll leave these like the Wemby. They deactivated his vintage because it's a whole different identifying process with unmistakable matching points. SGC is great as well. plus, this was a demo from over 2 years ago and that's the last I've touched of Kurt's products.
Isn't that what they say not to do?
Everyone has their own preferences for sure. None of the grading companies seem to mind.
GENTLY in Barry Whites Voice
🤣
Subscribed because Justin Jefferson and I hate surface scratches
lol
The card matches your fingernails
Yup it did. My daughter who was 2 at the time of this video found that painting my nails was her favorite thing to do. So I put my internet masculinity aside as her smile matters more.
@@frostyfeetcards hell ya thats awesome. I figured it had something to do with your daughter not knowing you had a daughter but I figured that’s what it was and I was gonna ask if you were being a nice dad and let your daughter paint your nails ❤️
Nail polish on your thumb nail, seriously?
Yes, My 4 year old daughter likes to paint my nails which is more important to me than to ensure I have unpainted nails for my videos.

@@salookie8000 yes indeed. Kiddo's happiness comes first, then everything else.

I assume this guy has daughters 😂
You assumed correctly. I have 1 daughter who was 3 at the time and her favorite activity was painting dad's nails.
Great hack! I’ve just sent you a message on IG if you don’t mind taking a look
Just replied.
Hello awesome Video!
Does this also works with Pokémon Cards, especially with the holo cards from wizard of the coast?
Yes but still remember to have plenty of practice on cards you don't cherish before trying it on anything you value.
