I like these because no unnecessary intro, no dramatic music, just straight to the point. Impressive how fair these deals turn out to be, no crazy money made given work involved and seller gets a very fair price.
2023 value? I have a pit in my stomach for everyone involved in the deal. As I was watching, was hoping to hear that you held the set and are now ahead on the deal by several hundred thousand dollars. Great story though, love your videos!
Yup, I wish I could have been in the restaurant booth with them when they were counting out the 20's, 50's, and 100's to settle up. Reminds me of my card show days traveling the Northwest.
This is so inspiring. I just got back into collecting after taking the last 25 years off. I have 9 T206 cards so far. I am collecting baseball and hockey because those are the sports I follow.
Thanks Chris - really enjoy these insights and hearing about the roller coaster ride of how deals come together. I also found it comforting to hear that even with all the knowledge you have in the hobby, there were lessons to learn. Gaining expertise can sometimes come with a cost!
Hey Chris, for me this was by far the most interesting deal ever, I'm just imagining what that deal would be worth today. I'm glad you guys decided to keep some for your collections!
Thank you Chris for another engrossing tale of card collecting & buying. I'm catching up on all your prior stories & each one seems better than the last. You have a knack for storytelling & I strongly recommend you write a book about your exploits. You have an excellent memory, notes of your purchases, photos of the cards & the best thing is the financial breakdown at the end. Thanks again & can't wait until the next one.
Cool story. T-206 set is mind blowing. Yeah I would have liked a Cobb & Cy Young at those prices. Like you said live and learn. Hank Aaron RC is pretty sweet.
Your content is some of the best in the hobby. Informative, honest, humble, impressive, intriguing and so well spoken. I’m very happy I found your channel.
I just can't get enough of the fly on the wall perspective you give us of these deals. Just incredible. Already cannot wait for the next one. Thanks Chris.
Great story Chris. I believe you already touched on this, but I can't remember in how much detail. It would be interesting to hear an update on your former business partner and all of the how's, when's and why's of you guys going in different directions. I guess your viewers just like to hear every detail we can pull from you. This channel is blowing up and it's fun to send a link to your videos to friends because they never disappoint!
Thank you Tampa! Jeremy and I are still close. We havent done a deal in a while because I am in Europe. But if/when I return, we will probably work together again.
Wow i'm very new to your channel and videos, and I must say you have that "IT" factor, I could listen to you for hours on end, so perfectly articulated, not to mention the actual content being talked about and the art of a deal is just awesome to see how everyone's experience plays out
Easily one of my favorite channels! I’m not even super into baseball in the hobby and I can’t get enough of the history and knowledge you provide. Thanks!
Your stories are excellent. The joys of being a card collector are finally paying off big time . I would say you are set for life. Good for you brother . Let’s Gooo 👊
The bank story was suspenseful. Before you got to it...I was wondering about a limit! I agree with you about not wanting to have the cash upfront, since you had no idea what the sale amount was going to be. What if a deal wasn’t reached? Then you’d have all the cash out for nothing
Hey Chris, thanks for showing some of your history. You are successful, and it's nice to be able to get a few of your experiences to help me along the way.
My buddy had a card shop in 82.A old couple in one day right before closing had a bag full of cards he gave them $35 dollars it had a 52 Bowman cards in it hole set plus many doubles of stars.
So glad I discovered your channel. Really fascinating stories, exhaustive research, professional quality editing. And, you take the time to answer many of your viewers questions. I'd say you do this more for love than for money!
Love listening to your show my friend I learned a lot I've only been doing this for about three years I love it I'm addicted like a crack addict I'm not on your level financially as far as buying cards but I love to buy and do the things that I do I'm 70 and I wish I had been doing this when I was your age and it's not all about money
Fascinating as usual. There’s a great book that most people know about where the author tracked down a lot of the players from that era and interviewed them. The title escapes me.
Jeremy sounds like someone I deal with on a daily basis as a bank regional manager. I get the other end of that interaction quite often. I get why it's frustrating but never fun to be on the receiving end. Interesting and fun story.
@@dennispatrickzender Not true in Canada. If a customer W/D or deposits $10K or more, the bank is REQUIRED to report the transaction to the RCMP (our FBI). If the amount is less than $10K, a nosy bank teller can choose to report (after they ask you how you got the money or what you're gonna use it for). Then the RCMP come knocking on your door asking questions. It's not fun. And it's been that way for at least 20 years up here.
I notice a few comments on many RUclips channels of those getting back into collecting after 25 years, myself included. I'm rather systematically in collecting. I'm working on a card of every player and manager in the Hall of Fame, excludes front office executive kind of people. The other if I had all the money in the world of course a complete T-206 set - would not care of condition.
It would be hard to imagine today someone not having any payment platform. Great story. I agree with your friend on always having the cash ready in hand but, I see the safety side of it (not taking out all the money before meeting the seller).
Really enjoy your videos and your willingness to share your insights. I'm recently retired and getting back into hobby. Have enjoyed the process of selling parts of my collection on eBay to self fund new acquisitions.
You are an excellent storyteller, with apparently no shortage to pick from - reminds me of Kramer selling his “yarns” to Peterman (sorry for Seinfeld reference but everything is relatable to that show). Really enjoyed it.
Thank you for what you do on RUclips. After seeing one of your videos I went back to some 30-year-old boxes of commons. I found lots of good cards that were nothing before when I put them away. I have a couple of thousands plus of cards to review now. Hope you keep putting up these great Videos.
Very enjoyable story and glad it worked out for you. Really enjoy how well these videos are put together with great detail. Great job and look forward to future ones.
@@collectorinvestordealer Excellent! I have a little experience buying a couple vintage collections myself. I don't have all of the details as I was doing it more for fun and personal collection vs. flipping for profit but I enjoy hearing similar thought processes when doing so. Cheers!
For someone who has tinkered with card selling as more of a side income, your breakdowns are incredibly helpful and have motivated me to keep better books myself.
Talk about a great deal! I bet you guys are stoked to have some of those cards still in your PC. Very interesting story, and love the determination you guys had with the banks to make it happen. That is my favorite set of cards of all time. I'm working hard to collect as many T206 cards as I can.
This videos are awesome man! I'm so glad I found your channel, its great to hear stories from someone who clearly loves the hobby and not just the money they make from it
Chris, Honestly, as someone who is trying to run a similar business with sports cards (albeit not the exact same), your youtube channel has legitimately changed my life. It's been inspiring to see all the work that you put in and amazing to hear your stories. Your financial break downs have guided me to a more budget conscience approach to looking at my investments. Both from a time and monetary perspective. I just want to say thank you for all the work you put into sharing your passion with the masses. Keep doing your thing man! with utmost appreciation, Wes
Awesome story Chris, So glad you kept such good notes on your sales. It makes it so much more interesting knowing all the cost that go into making the deal happen and what everything sold for.
I actually pulled a Sam Crawford t 206 history of topps original from a box of 2008 topps chasing a kershaw rc. It’s very worn and has pencil writing on the back. Piedmont.
Great story!!!....Love this stuff....also love the tobacco cards...I have several...with I picked up more way back when...these cards have so much value today.....great job....great story.
Chris, Thanks for another great video. You have the most interesting baseball card stories. Dynamite presentation ! Your video camera needs to be set on HD While you are telling your story.
This is definitely the most entertaining RUclips account right right now
Agreed, great to see a different side showing deals can be made, fair deals where a seller is happy, and education/hard work pays off to a profit.
💯💯💯
same 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Thank you for that!
Agree
Chris, I could watch these stories all day long.. They are that good!
Love these videos, and the low and high rollers. Learn a lot watching them.

I don't even collect cards and I love these business stories
Jermey is my guy. Bought t206 from him before. Glad he's doing better
So informative to hear how and when you decided to grade all of this. Again, so great that you’re up cash but also the collection grows too!
Enjoyed the video. Shocked when you said the PSA fees were $10 a card. Wow!
I'm fascinated by your ability to recount these stories with such clarity...keep them coming
It's almost sociopathic.
You may not be an expert in negotiating but you are are phenomenal story teller. Thanks for sharing.
Can't wait to hear more.

Dont knock the 1989 Topps set :). Love that set!
Still cool
What a cool story and experience. I just learned a lot about the backs as you shared it.
You get more hits from your stories than people just showing or ripping cards. People enjoy this type of show.
