    I like these because no unnecessary intro, no dramatic music, just straight to the point. Impressive how fair these deals turn out to be, no crazy money made given work involved and seller gets a very fair price.

    2023 value? I have a pit in my stomach for everyone involved in the deal. As I was watching, was hoping to hear that you held the set and are now ahead on the deal by several hundred thousand dollars. Great story though, love your videos!

      Yup, I wish I could have been in the restaurant booth with them when they were counting out the 20's, 50's, and 100's to settle up. Reminds me of my card show days traveling the Northwest.

    This is so inspiring. I just got back into collecting after taking the last 25 years off. I have 9 T206 cards so far. I am collecting baseball and hockey because those are the sports I follow.

    Thanks Chris - really enjoy these insights and hearing about the roller coaster ride of how deals come together. I also found it comforting to hear that even with all the knowledge you have in the hobby, there were lessons to learn. Gaining expertise can sometimes come with a cost!

    Great story Chris. I believe you already touched on this, but I can't remember in how much detail. It would be interesting to hear an update on your former business partner and all of the how's, when's and why's of you guys going in different directions. I guess your viewers just like to hear every detail we can pull from you. This channel is blowing up and it's fun to send a link to your videos to friends because they never disappoint!

    The bank story was suspenseful. Before you got to it...I was wondering about a limit! I agree with you about not wanting to have the cash upfront, since you had no idea what the sale amount was going to be. What if a deal wasn’t reached? Then you’d have all the cash out for nothing

      Yeah that was my thinking, and it was clear the seller wasnt wishy-washy. So it didnt seem like something to be concerned about.

    My buddy had a card shop in 82.A old couple in one day right before closing had a bag full of cards he gave them $35 dollars it had a 52 Bowman cards in it hole set plus many doubles of stars.

    Love listening to your show my friend I learned a lot I've only been doing this for about three years I love it I'm addicted like a crack addict I'm not on your level financially as far as buying cards but I love to buy and do the things that I do I'm 70 and I wish I had been doing this when I was your age and it's not all about money

    Jeremy sounds like someone I deal with on a daily basis as a bank regional manager. I get the other end of that interaction quite often. I get why it's frustrating but never fun to be on the receiving end. Interesting and fun story.

      @@collectorinvestordealer mostly because of BSA Anti-Laundring. If you are acting morally then you have nothing to worry about.

      @@dennispatrickzender Not true in Canada. If a customer W/D or deposits $10K or more, the bank is REQUIRED to report the transaction to the RCMP (our FBI). If the amount is less than $10K, a nosy bank teller can choose to report (after they ask you how you got the money or what you're gonna use it for). Then the RCMP come knocking on your door asking questions. It's not fun. And it's been that way for at least 20 years up here.

    I notice a few comments on many RUclips channels of those getting back into collecting after 25 years, myself included. I'm rather systematically in collecting. I'm working on a card of every player and manager in the Hall of Fame, excludes front office executive kind of people. The other if I had all the money in the world of course a complete T-206 set - would not care of condition.

    It would be hard to imagine today someone not having any payment platform. Great story. I agree with your friend on always having the cash ready in hand but, I see the safety side of it (not taking out all the money before meeting the seller).

    Thank you for what you do on RUclips. After seeing one of your videos I went back to some 30-year-old boxes of commons. I found lots of good cards that were nothing before when I put them away.     Talk about a great deal! I bet you guys are stoked to have some of those cards still in your PC. Very interesting story, and love the determination you guys had with the banks to make it happen.
    That is my favorite set of cards of all time. I'm working hard to collect as many T206 cards as I can.

    Honestly, as someone who is trying to run a similar business with sports cards (albeit not the exact same), your youtube channel has legitimately changed my life. It's been inspiring to see all the work that you put in and amazing to hear your stories. Your financial break downs have guided me to a more budget conscience approach to looking at my investments.     I actually pulled a Sam Crawford t 206 history of topps original from a box of 2008 topps chasing a kershaw rc. It’s very worn and has pencil writing on the back. Piedmont.
