    I love the start of new quarters because I love to see what my favorite credit card RUclipsrs are using. Since I got the Chase Freedom Flex at the beginning of the year, I’m using it for gas, groceries, dining, and Amazon for this quarter (which is the majority of my spending). Other than that, I’ll be using the Capital One SavorOne for my streaming, the American Express Blue Cash Everyday for non-Amazon online purchases, Walmart, and Sam’s Club, and the Amazon Prime Visa as my catch all card thanks to the Chase checking account bonus I got last year.

    Nice video and set up Adam! I just like earlier today got approved for the IHG Premier card from Chase so in my Wallet for 2Q is: IHG card until I hit 3k in 3 months. Other cards in my wallet: CFF(7x at Restaurants), Discover IT(5% gas stations), Capital One Savor One(3% Entertainment), Amex Gold (4x grocery stores) and Venture X might be my catch all card along with the IHG card.

    I see you've totally stopped mentioning the Curve card :) Our setups are very similar, one big difference being that I heavily use my Curve card. Yeah, still can't add Visa to it, but it cuts carrying my 6 Mastercards (Savor, Freedom Flex, DC, CC, Rewards+, Premier) and Discover (Discover It) down to carrying 1, and automatically routes purchases based on rules I set up once at the beginning of the quarter. Takes a lot of the guess work out of it for me. Also love the GBIT so I can move purchases around later - for instance, all my dining purchases from the last 30 days only earned 5%, but now I can move them to my Freedom Flex for 7% in this quarter (I don't usually max my categories).

    If you normally get 3% cash back in restaurants on the Chase Freedom Flex, and then get 5% in the 2nd quarter in restaurants in the quarterly rotating categories, and you say it's "stackable," that adds-up to 8%, but you are saying it stacks to 7%. Please explain how you arrived at your 7% calculation for this card at restaurants on this card for the 2nd quarter.

    • @ProudMoney
      @ProudMoney  2 месяца назад +3

      Anything over 1% is considered a "bonus" so in reality you are getting 2 bonus points on the 3% and 4 bonus on the 5%, so it is 1+2+4=7

    • @suncat9
      @suncat9 2 месяца назад

      @@ProudMoney With all due respect, that makes no sense to me whatsoever. First of all, why is anything over 1% a bonus? I don't know where you got that from. Why should that lead to getting 2 bonus points on the 3% (that adds-up to 5%), and why should that lead to 4 bonus points on the 5% (that adds up to 9%)?

    • @ProudMoney
      @ProudMoney  2 месяца назад +1

      Read the fine print on Chase and many other reward cards and you will see the reward is often structured as one base point plus bonus points in certain categories. For example, 3 points per dollar is one base point plus two bonus points. When there are two offers stacked, you only get the base point once, not twice. So you get one base point plus the bonus points from each offer. So, a 3% reward stacked with a 5% reward gives you one base point, plus 2 bonus points (from the 3% offer) plus 4 bonus points (from the 5% offer). So, 1 point + 2 points + 4 points = 7 points/7% on those purchases, not 8 points --- because you only get the 1 base point once. I don't know any other way to explain it, but it is well known that this is how it works.
