Very good 👌 review i really like your test methodology. You deserve more views and subscribers. One suggestion test the battery life by number of holes i know it takes a lot of effort and time, but give you very useful information. I watched a a lot of power tools reviews Almost no one did it. Sorry if my English is bad.
Thanks very much mate! The holes/battery is a big one for me! It's so important I'm doing that in separate videos, please see the hr140 Makita video. I'm getting through the tests, but it's the hardest test for me to film currently, so I'll do a big video for that stuff when I can. Cheers!
I was just about to pull the trigger on a DCH133, but saw this review and it was enough to convince me to spend the extra $100 for the DCH263. I don't think I would've been disappointed with the DCH133, but the better chuck, side handle and at least some attempt at vibration dampening on the DCH263 won out in the end. I'm just glad I didn't buy the DCH273, which is about the same price as the '263 but with just 2.1J of impact energy and a slightly higher weight (2.91kg vs. 2.70).
@@BoltahDownunder As luck would have it, a new DCH263B showed up on ebay for about the same price as a '133B so I snagged it. Only used it to drill one 1/2" hole in a 6" slab of concrete that has a date of 1974 scratched in it (so hard stuff - concrete never really stops curing) and it blasted through like I was drilling wood; oh, and as low-tech as the vibration dampening is it definitely works!
Is it common to have the chuck develop a wobble? Any idea what would cause this? Mine is only like 6 weeks old. Most it's been used for is drilling 1/2" holes for drop in anchors. @@BoltahDownunder
Very good review, thanks! I have had the 133 for a year now, I saw this news one the other day and wonder how it matched up. I'm still very content with the 133. An amazingly useful tool.
Ive owned both for 2 years each now. The anti vibratiom defonitely helps my elbows out. After a few weeks of concrete work, always get the sore joints. But the 263 helps a lot when im startong to wear out.
i think you misunderstood the point. It's to max out the torque to test how much each tool, can deliver, not to demonstrate driving lag screws into a tree
Thank you for a good review! I have a question - I work with suspended ceilings, and I use a Makita DHR202. How would the Dewalt stand against the Makita? Mostly I use the 5mm drill and I’m all about speed.
when the drilling size is in the comfort zone of both hammer drills being compared, the smaller hammer drill is usually faster due to higher bpm. you can even see SDS+ drill out race SDS max drill of a same brand. the only advantage of big hammer drill is when the smaller drill start to struggle with size.
Hmm this is a very different tool to yours and I wouldn't think it's very clean drilling small holes. Since you're in Makita maybe consider the dhr182? That's a similar one to yours but it's brushless and very light. Drills fast compared to other compact hammers. One of my favourites
Hi mate. so I have seen both comparisons of dch133 and dch263. and i wanna go with dch263. but this one is out of stock on most suppliers. where did you purchase yours?
@@BoltahDownunder So finally got my dch263n. One of the best purchases I have ever made in my power tool collection. Which brand of SDS drill bits you wanna suggest to buying?
Thank you for this great review, this is exactly what I was looking for too. Dewalt SDS Rotary hammer drill line-up is a complete mess... Picking one for home use is bloody confusing and frustrating... I couldn't justify the costs between their D handle models and drop motor models, and their Flexvolt models are stupidly expensive for a cordless hammer drill. would be great to see how this one goes with the 54v flexvolt battery though. Thanks again, I've now decided to purchase this DCH263N.
No wukkas mate! There's a lot to these tools and I'm doing my best to demystify them. This is a real nice drill that will do anything you can throw it at around the home, and not too pricey either. Enjoy!
✌️😎👍hi I think your videos are brilliant and very informative keep them coming 👍......who do you think is better DeWalt or Makita..er us know....cheers have a nice day✌️
I also got this, best buy i ever had so far! I can't understand the price diffrence between DCH263 and DCH273 though, i mean DCH263 is stronger (3joules)?! Size?
I have the dch273 and it’s very strong for a smaller tool. I think the reason it’s more expensive is the technology inside to make it a small design with that much power.
?? QUESTION: (First, appreciate the excellent review) Does the DCH263 have a reverse gear (for taking out screws) also, is the front stabilising handle removable? (Hoping to use as an all-rounder, including small wood-work jobs). Thanks in advance.
Cheers mate! Yes and yes. It's got an SDS chuck so for screws you'll need an adaptor. But for small wood work? Might be too big! This is pretty big as far as Rotary hammers go and is mainly for drilling large holes in concrete. Might not have the precision you want. You'll probably want a normal drill driver or impact driver for your wood work. But, DeWalt will often sell kits with those so maybe you'll be able to find a deal with both tools that suits your needs
One more question..do you know this dch263 handle and corded hammer drill can be install it together or not? Becoz i want to buy a secondhand one..but he say do not have a handle..and my just find a handle for corded hammer drill like D25133K?
Can you do a video about the dch293? There’s not much reviews about it here on RUclips. If you used the 293 before, which one would you recommend, the 293 or 263?
The 293 is rare and expensive; it'd cost me like a thousand dollars, so unfortunately I can't get it yet. But I do have the 333, which is the same tool with different voltage. I'll be covering that one soon, so it'll give you a good idea of the 293. I'd recommend the 263 if you want a 28mm hammer; the 293 is much larger & more expensive, but isn't any more powerful
Thanks for the feedback! I’ll most likely get the 263 since the 293 does cost more. Also, does the 263 have a e clutch or kickback control? I know the 293 has, maybe that’s why it’s more expensive?
You should try with a bigger battery, like a 6 or 8ah. To see if it gives you more power. It should because of the better cells. Great video.
Great video, been looking for one with vibrating handles, def getting this one, thank you :)
Dch263 is a beast. If you use it with facing bricks it chips them and does not give a clean hole

They're all great drills, you won't be disappointed with any of them. It's just a bit strange how DeWalt has designed their lineup

@@BoltahDownunder interesting, I have not had that issue yet! Thanks for the heads up though, I'll keep an eye on it.

Common mistake in the first test. These arent made for turning in bolts, they are a hammering machine that spins, not a torque machine that hammers.

The D25481K is more powerful, is that better for ceramic tile removal?
It'll remove them faster because it hits harder but also is SDS max, so you could get bigger chisels for it. But it's much heavier

No it's too big, but the DCH 172 has a wobbly handle that fits the 133. I use that combo now myself

I want to buy for the first time cordless hammer dril..which one do you recommend? 133 or 263?
In general the I'd say 133, but if you're looking to do bigger drilling like 22mm up often, or breaking up concrete etc then the 263
@BoltahDownunder Yes you are correct..thanks a lot..

@Sapit-lq2oz that one won't fit the 263, but will fit the 133. You need to find the next size (50mm) up for the 263
Reckon she can handle coring brick?
Definitely! Depends on the size of course. I think they say 60mm or something for concrete, but brick is easier
How's does in perform in brick
Like normal hollow house brick? It wouldn't even slow down knocking holes in that
what brand drill bits
The 14mm is Makita, the big ones are renegade. That's an Aussie store brand I'm not sure if it's available in other countries

Haha yeah that thing is so weak I don't know why they made it.
With small impact driver you get five fold more torque. Wrong tool for deck screws.
