*Works as described , **MyBest.Tools** breaking out rock in my yard to install post for mailbox , fencing and trenches . We built the house on a high point that is mostly rock and this is a tool that helps for installing anything in this ground.*

Thanks for the great review , I did buy a DCH133 and I have used it so far to drill 6mm holes into a old garage floor with an Irwin SDS plus drill bit and it turned out to be a easy job ! , The reason I bought a DeWalt SDS is I already own a DeWalt XR impact driver so one battery fits all in the 18v XR series but like you I am having this problem sliding the batteries in and out, they are is a bit tight ! I just hope they loosen up over time , Carry on with the good videos ,Graham .

The black 'rollers' in the battery area of the hammer are why it's so hard to put the batteries in. I think that is to offset the fact there is no vibration dampening and I suspect the batteries were falling out without these.
Just bought this for $229 and came with 2 free 1.7ah power stack batteries. Pretty excited to have this in my stash. I buy whatever is on sale between Milwaukee and dewalt.
Perfect for small applications. I use the 133 daily. It's my favorite tool to use! It's been a solid year and she keeps going.
Cool what size are you usually drilling?

PS 18Vdc battery on a 20V RHmr? did not think that would work. (unless it labelled based on the initial/peak voltage on the drill)
They are labelled exactly like that, but for some reason in different markets they state one or the other. Here DeWalt are all called 18V, not 20V max. The tool makers are all over the place with that, but 20Vmax is getting more common, I guess because bigger number sounds better
I’m waiting for my 113 to come in the mail but I’m pretty sure the other Dewalts are more expensive because they come with a dust collector which makes it OSHA approved and one thing to note is all the dust going into the air contains silicate which is really harmful to breathe to much of into your lungs, but anyway thanks for the video!💯
Love your video! Thanks for posting. I'm an amateur with tools and am just getting started learning why to use certain tools over another. Can you tell me more about your 18v battery on a 20v tool? Do you think that could have any impact on why it didn't achieve the 1500 rpm's? Thanks in advance. Keep up the great posts!
Cheers mate! It's just regional branding. Here DeWalt calls them 18V, not 20V max. 20V is the maximum voltage the batteries have at rest, but under load it's more like 18. Same with other sizes to: 12v is 10.8, 40v is 36, etc. It's just marketing but more companies are starting to use the bigger number as it sounds more powerful I guess
If you are impressed with that rotary hammer, check out the DCS380B reciprocating saw. It out performs corded saws.

Yes the chipping works very good it tore up a flag pole concrete base with mine no problem. Its a handful in chipping mode.
Great review. On the second drill, it seemed like there was a considerable wobble. Did you feel it?

My chisel bit spins freely in every mode. But works. Anyone have an idea why
I have the craftsman version of this is bloody great on clearance for 53 dollars its pretty much the same as this but in red I could have bought 4 of these for the price of the dewalt
Wow cool! I didn't know craftsman made those too. We can't get that brand in Australia but that hammer looks like the Stanley SFMCH900B, but in red. Slightly different handle to the DeWalt but surely the same guts as the DCH033. All 7/8 or 22mm capacity, all made by Stanley Black & Decker. Sneaky buggers.

Can you measure the Watts of the motors in all your rotary hammers? I'm curious to see how they would compare to corded versions. In ZA we use Watts to denote the power of a motor but I have seen people use Amps instead on youtube which is baffling especially when you consider that higher amps doesn't mean more power (in corded tools) as we don't know the supply voltage (100 - 240 Vac)
I can measure watts (from amps & volts) from the batteries, actually got the equipment for that ages ago but it hasn't come up until now. AFAIK, no tool maker states watts on cordless tools, and for corded tools they will often state amps (which makes sense inside a given market where mains voltage is known). But really with RH's they just state the drilling capacity (their reasoning for which isn't consistent) and things like impact energy, which is their main testable claim. I'm building a rig to measure that, but have no idea when it'll be ready. With a wattage I could measure while drilling, but would rather have some kind of brake rig that gives progressive resistance to the motor (which I also want to build at some point but don't know when I will be able to😂)
@@BoltahDownunder re:Amps that's true but confusing as you have to work out the VA to estimate how many W for each power tool. (Before losses)
I think measuring the load/Watts would also give us an indication for roughly how long a drill/tool could run at the current load with an (x) AH battery which we could verify using your granite and concrete drilling tests.
Other than that it would also give us an idea of what equivalent corded tool (on paper) the cordless versions can compare to if using A to denote power of the motor.
When speaking to corded tools only then it allows you to compare products from different regions that have the same size motor (Watts) but have different current ratings. e.g. 500W motor at 220-240Vac will draw roughly half the current of a 500w motor at 110-120Vac. Same size motor but the latter will likely run hotter (generalizing)
I suppose measuring the impact force of rotary hammers would be cool, too, to verify the punch-force of the RHs to see if they hold up to the manufacturers claims and might explain why similarly specced drills perform better or worse that the competition.
I would be stoked to see your rig to test wattage / progressive resistance :D

If you're only drilling occasionally or drilling smaller than around 14mm I don't think you'd need the bigger one
Did you or anyone have green grease on the rotating switch to turn from hammer drill to drill?
Yeah that'll leak a bit in some cases, they're not water/oil tight. If you're seeing actual blobs of grease coming out of the switch you might want to warranty it, but in general small oily leaks are pretty normal for these tools.

D handle are the best for floor tiles.
It's cheaper because you have to buy the batteries...locking you into the dewalt brand.😅 I got this drill, absolutely love it!

yes the battery is TAF on my new 133 too.
The reason the battery is so tight when pulling out is they have put a anti vibrant rubber to stop excess movement of battery in action on the 133

I had a milwakee that kind of looks like this one but I didn't like it, and went and got me one of this. Works like a champ 🏆
I started with Ryobi years ago but bunnings has the franchise and won't lower prices,I now run Dewalt because they are better and cheaper ..
The DCH033 is 2J impact energy vs 2.6J wouldn't this mean it was just 75% or so as fast? It sure is a lot cheaper, $50 less and comes with a 4aH battery. Good review btw.
Thanks mate! The I got the Stanley/craftsman version of the 033 and it's still pretty powerful but there seems to be more to it than that. Still testing it but here's a taste

I ended up buying it it was a giant step up from the hammer drill I used made the job an absolute breeze doing 12mm holes.

Bought a DCD133+ on ebay supposed to be new unit looks and runs and even smells brand new but very disappointed. It has bad bit wobble. Just like in these videos. Not a big deal if you drill anything bigger than a 3/8 hole for a tapcon but if you drilling small tapcon precision holes like for a 5/32 tapcon it wobbles so bad it blows up the hole and then the tapcon cant bite. Forced to use my older Dewalt hammer drill. Love the way the DCH tears through concrete though. Thats very cool but its looking like they all may have a sloppy wobble. You can clearly see it just by running the bit and watching it. And you can see it in these videos. Correct me if i'm wrong.
Yes! I've noticed a wobble too. I thought it may have been the brick but it's not moving. I'm very careful to seat them flat.
My new dch172 had also developed a wobble. Seems to be common with DeWalt hammers?

@@BoltahDownunder Thanks Boltah. I started digging around and it seems this is a known issue with these drills. Bummer. I really like how it goes through concrete no problem though. Mine wobbles so bad I can clearly see the bit wobbles just by free running it and watching the bit. I bought a few different SDS+ bits to check like Milwaukee and Bosch and they all wobble. Wanted to confirm before I waste more money buying a new SDS chuck. Very disappointed.

With an SDS Plus Core Drill Bit? Sure, probably. But not with a solid SDS plus bit, they don't make them that big. You'd need SDS Max for that

The reason why this is cheaper, is for Dewalt to have a reason to buy them over the Ryobi and Milwaukee. The other Dewalt hammers are for the "REAL" pros, while this is for those entusiast, which wont pay too much. Its just done well by Dewalt.
It is a pretty reliable tool, I use them every day. This model is basic equipment for the company I work for and I’m sure they paid for themselves long ago
My father's a professional plumber, and he uses this exact thing. Often with a 25mm extra long bit. It just powers on and job done.

It's cheaper because it's made in China, was gutting just bought one to find out it was made in China will probably send it back
I think they're all made in China, except for a few of the better Bosch drills. Mine was, I wouldn't worry about it it's still a great tool
