    What's heartbreaking to me is the fact that Anne never let Elizabeth see her sadness and pain, she put on a brave face in front of her and I believe that is what made Anne an excellent mother and Elizabeth an amazing queen.

      Actually she did want to marry one man but sadly there was too much opposition and politics so she had to cancel marriage negotiations.

    • @heart127
      @heart127 5 лет назад +100

      I think Elizabeth did want to marry...but since she’s a queen of three nations, she had many enemies that wanted to throw her down! Hence they plotted a lot so she just declared she married her country instead and didn’t want to label herself to just one man! She is a queen and wanted to remain a queen rather than a guy’s property like how women were in those days

    • @jasminevaliente96
      @jasminevaliente96 5 лет назад +27

      @Urwa Nazir it was far more than wanting England to have a strong leader. Crowns and worse women were far to dispensable in her times she was betrayed by or lost everyone close to her because of her sex of course she wouldnt want to marry which legally made her the property of a man. I wouldn't be up for that either after the tragedy her father was as a husband to all of his wives.

      It’s karma for him, but at the expense of Jane and Edward. Although Edward probably didn’t have such a horrible life being coddled and lavished with gifts and attention, he was still very ill and if he had lived, he could have possibly been a good ruler in his own right.
      Jane was apparently a sweetheart as well. Despite Henry’s stubbornness, she wanted Mary and Elizabeth to reconcile with their father and is believed one of the only wives he truly loved (although I believe he definitely did somewhat love, in his own strange way, Anne Boleyn and Catherine of Aragon in the beginning of marriage). So yes, he got what he deserved but as usual, innocent people died from it.

    When I watched The Tudors I always wished that I could go there and tell Henry VIII that you don't have to treat your wifes so badly just because they didn't give you a son. Because they gave you two beautiful daughters who both would be the rulers and the monarchs, The Queens, that not England nor the world would ever forget. Whether it's good or bad or anything in between, it was Henry's daughters, not his son and heir, who really ruled as monarchs and who are remembered by that.

      @Helen Hines "having sons were essential for a kingdom's stability" ....and that's where he and society was wrong. The origin commenter was trying to explain that but I don't think you understood. Before Elizabeth and Mary, there weren't successful female rulers because they simply didn't get the chance or were not fierce enough. There were plenty of male rulers who were not cut out for ruling either. Think of it this way - If there is a high proportion of male rulers there will more of them that were successful than female rulers. There were propably 4 female rulers before the girls max.

    This is the most Tragic love story of all time. Henry always liked a challenge. It was the challenge that he was infatuated with. He took what he wanted. Then when the challenge was over or bored him. He disposed of Who he wanted, when he wanted. A man who had Complete control over everybody, Struck fear into everybody. He hurt, betrayed or He murdered, the people who loved or cared for him the most. Not just the Women in his life, His Friends, councillors.... Of All, I pity Katherine, Mary, Anne, Elizabeth, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard, Catherine Parr. He completely ruined every woman he claimed to Love and cherish. Not to mention he ruined his mistress Reputation, they were not able to refuse their King. He would have punished & financially ruined their families reputation & wealth. He was A True Monster, but he is somehow Romanticised by A delusion. All the women he either 'loved' or 'cared' for were Victims, or collateral damage. Rest In Peace to all of His Victims.

      @@lou-auraineczl3821 I always saw Elizabeth I as very controlled and intellectual. This actress plays her as emotional and sensual-- fun, maybe, but nothing like what I have read about the historical Elizabeth.

    It’s as if Elizabeth finished what her mother started and fought long and hard to become a beautiful queen she knew when to be a graceful lady and a strong warrior to defeat and conquer whatever fell in her path to become queen and reign over her kingdom with an iron clad fist while yet remaining calm and courageous every step of the way she definitely earned her title and crown !!!

      In the Tudors, I was laughing bc Holbein didn.t age at all. In one scene, Henry mentions Holbein having done his father.s portrait and Holbein at that point should have been maybe even older than Henry himself, lol.

    Elizabeth Tudor was a very strong woman, simply because she inherited her mother's strong personality and her father's intelligence and looks, she also understood herself and her limitations, and she very wisely chose not to get married and to challenge the attitudes of society regarding women and their roles within society.

    This is not for the past but, for all women in the future. How putting all of your trust in men will destroy you; utterly and completely. And I, too, is apart of that statistic. The only way to avoid this type of thing is to put your trust and love in God and let him guide you to your only one and true love. Then, such contastovies wouldn't occur.
