Thanks Andy ! You have a wonderful nack for phrasing ! Great explanation of soloing and finding the chord tones! Diatonic, altered and inclosures ! Bebop is a language and you have an excellent way of explaining the theory and performing by example ! Nice job well done !
Great lesson, Andy! This free lesson was invaluable! I have been struggling for years, trying to connect the dots, but I finally am getting a better understanding of how my "bits and pieces" of jazz chords become conversational through lessons like this! I had never even known what a "Bird Blues" was before this lesson! You are a wonderful teacher! Thank you for all that you do! Oh, and I must say... I should also say that your production values (Image Quality + Graphics + Chord Diagrams + Sound) are EXCELLENT 110%! You have "re-set the bar" quite high! I wouldn't be surprised if you have a pro film guy helping you - but maybe you are great at that, too? What camera do you shoot this with? A Red Scarlet with a Zeiss prime lens?! Excellent lighting and background, too! Your beautiful guitars are always polished! Your fingers are manicured nicely. You, Sir, are a true PRO!
Hi Joseph - thank you for the kind words. I am glad that you are understanding how the lines relate to the chords. To answer your question, I do the filming and editing myself. I use a Panasonic G85 camera (3 of them(!)) with a Rokinon lens.
Thankyou Andy for the lesson, excellent. Just got a question at time 4:57 with the C7(b9) chord, the b9 is C# which is like an augmented or as a lead into the Dminor/Fmajor7 chord? Thankyou
Incredibly tasty lines and licks! I thought that spelling out the chords was too cliché, but I think I'm realizing it's only cliché, if you spelled out _every note_ of the chord, which would essentially make in arpeggio. But omitting one or the other note or playing enclosures makes it a lot more interesting. Nice, I think the proverbial nickel dropped here with me :-) Thanks!
@@AndyDacoulisThank you very much Andy for the response. It is helping me advance my guitar playing, and getting more familiar hearing chord progressions and extensions. Really enjoy your channel. Great stuff!
Man.. this is so helpful the way you spell out the 2-5-1's within ! Makes it much less painful🤯 for my brain to digest all of these intricate and interwoven details! Thanks a bunch and a bundle bro🙏🏾
A lot of these guys are not teaching anything they just really trying to show you they can play. Can't really learn nothing from you tube. Find a good teacher and pay in person for lessons.

Great tone and cool improvisation ;-)
What is the backing track that you play along with at the beginning of this video? I would like to obtain a copy so that I can do the same!

Hi..have you got an actual course on True fire? thanks
Thank you!
Great playing. What model Dang are you using?
Hi - this is a D'Angelico Excel SS.
Magnifique Bravo Monsieur ‘Pourais tu nous expliquer l’improvisation de Spain de Chick Chorea.‘Merci Beaucoup ❤.
Really hard to follow the chords just by listening to you name them because I can’t tell where in the progression we are
Very well done!
Andy, the sound of this chord progression reminds me of the hit song, Just The Two Of Us. Is this progression somehow related?
Hello - those two progressions are not really related. The only similarity would be the descending minor 7 chords. Thanks
@@AndyDacoulisThank you very much Andy for the response. It is helping me advance my guitar playing, and getting more familiar hearing chord progressions and extensions. Really enjoy your channel. Great stuff!
Andy, what is that purple sparkle guitar I saw you playing? ESP?
Yes, that was an ESP XTone1000. Fun guitar to play!
@@AndyDacoulis Thanks, I was trying to find the video but you have too many!
Wonderful !
On top of the melodies, your tone is amazing. Are you using a Princeton or Deluxe with a SM57 or something like that?
Thanks man - I use the Line 6 Helix for my videos. I record direct.
@@AndyDacoulis Do you teach on a one-to-one at all?
@@drmarcfpelletier Hi Marc - I usually teach on Zoom as most of my students are in the US or Europe. Are you in Montreal?

Definitely gona hit your website
Hard to listen to you play that progression without hearing the song, Georgia.
Those first few chords are the same as Georgia, or at least the version I play (badly). 😁
Thansk
I don't read so THANK YOU got the clear demonstration and the chord diagrams! You're awesome and generous! ❤
