    I don't ever comment on videos but I have to tell you this was such a great tutorial. Very thorough. I am about to install a system today on my cherokee!

    This Cherokee is so similar to my WJ, I'm definitely following this video to install my sub. Nice video.

    Thanks for this tutorial! I recently picked up a 2001 XJ and have been meaning to get my subs into it, just finished the stereo install two days ago. It's nice to see that it's simple enough to get through the fire wall, hell of a lot easier than when I had my F-150.

    Great content. Make sure to spray paint the ground area after you screw it down so that it doesn’t rust out in the future.

      Does it matter what kind of paint or does any brand or color work better?

    Thanks a lo!! This was a great video. I wanted to use the same receiver because I really love the old compact cassette deck :-). Everything you said was perfect. On the 1998 ZJ GrandCherokee the vents are below the head unit and make threading the RCA and ignition wire more difficult. You really have to reach over to the R side of the unit and poke your finger forward and come up from the HVAC switches, this after taking nearly the whole dash off. It still works though.

    There is always a plug "grommet" just left to the wire harness under the padding literally 3 or 4 inches to the left. Completely remove the plug & use atv silicone to waterproof the gap. Don't go through the rubber boots on the door's either unless you want a oxidized interior fuse box and just random damaged wires rotted door switches you know the stuff that happens when you break the moisture barrier for the electronics.

    Thank you for the information was very helpful, for the simple fact that I need a line out converter so I can hook up my amp in my Kicker that was my only question how to convert to RCA's Jax to the stereo thank you for this information very helpful, I had no clue about the inline converter. Answers all my questions. Thank you.

    What should I do about the existing Chrysler amp under driver side back seat (2001 Cherokee)

      +I Am Riot Lion If you stock amplifier has a subwoofer, then that would be the signal you would want to tap into to supply an RCA signal to the bass amp. But, if there is no stock subwoofer, then locate the speaker wire output of the amp and use those for your signal through your RCA cables to your bass amp.

  • @brentlaube568

    That was a clean install. I would have, however, used the true ignition wire under the steering column for remote turn on and run it to a relay before the amp. That would help eliminate any potential turn on pops.
    I personally always run any wire with 12 volts on the opposite side of the vehicle away from any signal cables. That eliminates any potential for noise to enter by way of RCAs from the get go.
    I never use wire taps. EVER. I cut and solder or use butt connectors. Wire taps are a neat invention, but they run the risk of falling off or not getting a full connection if not crimped on all the way. I fixed numerous installs where the installer used wire taps and an issue happened some time in the future.
    Other than my critiques, you did a safe and clean install.

    I got a new Pioneer stereo recently and had new speakers put in my jeep. Well noW when i turn my stereo up over 40 volume it will cut out my music and eventually shut off the stereo. However it isn't wiping out any of my settings. i have a 2000 watt pyle amp and a 1500 watt 15" competition subwoofer hooked up and i thought that it might be drawing to much power but when i unhooked everything and tried to play music again it still cut out. Trying to figure out if it would be a ground issue or if i might be shorting out a wire. the sub worked perfectly with my old stereo and old speakers. Any suggestions

      Sounds like the radio is going into protection mode. suggest to check all your connections including grounds. Additionally, you may be experiencing voltage drops if you are pulling to many amps. good places to start.

      Provo Beast Audio Installation I figured it out.. I had my brother in law wire up the stereo. Well he didn't have a lot of electrical tape so he put the wires for the FR&BR speakers together and vise versa for left side. Smh I felt dumb for not catching it the first time.. lol thanks a lot. Great vid btw.

    How log does the amp wires need to be to reach from the front battery to very back? I have a 16 ft power wire. Will that be enough?

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  8 лет назад

      Should be, this Memphis kit included a 17' battery power wire.

    So what if I wanted to have a little switch to turn on the subs instead of going strait up into the stereo Head unit. Could I go through the center console and connect the switch there? This would allow me to play music through my speakers when I don't want as much bass and when I do want bass i flip the switch to turn on the subs? If you know how I could do that I would much appreciate it but this video is great!!

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  8 лет назад +1

      +John Sullivan Sure, you can add a switch in the center console to allow you to switch on and off the bass amp. Just get a simple toggle switch which can be found at any auto part store. However, in addition, you could also add a bass knob which can allow you to adjust the level of bass incase you still wish to have those lower frequencies instead of turing them off completely.

    When you hooked up your line out converter to the stereo, did you just tap in the Left and Right to the back lines or did you cut those lines from the back speakers and only connect them to the line out converter?

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  7 лет назад

      No, i just tapped into the lines so the speakers till worked. You are basically just piggy backing the wires for a signal that the amp can play.

    Hey cool video I've never seen anyone do this with a stock tape player. Is there any reason why you don't install an aftermarket cd player? You could fit a double din in that.

    Do you have to connect all of the speakers to the rc at 14:00

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  4 года назад

      This is an old video, but the LOC we used had a built in amp turn on feature which required all connections to be made. if you are not using that amp turn on feature, or if your LOC doesn't have that function, then only speaker wires need to be connected.

      Provo Beast Audio Installation I had the same problem with my jeep you did. I ran 0 gauge and couldn't get them screws out on the kick panel because of the seat being in the way. Lol it was alot harder doing the tuck method with wire that's bigger around than your thumb lol but these style cherokee always sound nice because there is so much glass they hold sound well. In finishing mine up in the morning. Got all wires ran. Just have lift carpet up and put in dyna mat and put in my box and it'll be bumpin lol

    Got a 2015 Jeep Cherokee and want to put a sub and amp but need help

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  8 лет назад

      Will have similar install techniques I.E. Running power cable to the batter, ground, etc. Being a grand cherokee, you may have a factory amplifier, and if so, you will need to use a Line Out Converter if your radio is factory in order to provide signal to the amp. If you do indeed have a factory amplifier for your door speakers, then you will need to tap into the factory amp speaker output using that line out converter for your signal. Hope that helps!

    This might sound like a dumb question, But why not run the wires on the other side? The reason why iam asking it's because I am about to run wires in My Cherokee, great video

      Yes, and you can use either a razor blade or a knife to make the small slit. Just be very careful of the factory wiring

    why are noone changing batterys? It Will give a harder punch if you got a car audio battery. you should at least get a 63 A battery. butt you can get 100 A

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  7 лет назад

      All the vehicles featured on this channel are customer vehicles, not personal vehicles, hence why you don't see batteries changed all that often. Remember, even with a decent battery, ensure that your alternator is healthy as well, as it acts as the main power provider while the vehicle is running.

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  8 лет назад

      Ok, if it just has 6 speakers, there is no factory amp. If it has 9, the amp will be behind the glove box. You will just need to tap into the speaker wires for amp signal. Good luck with the install.
