I can't believe how pathetic the BMW E38 sound systems vs the Audi A8 D2 Bose system of the same generation. BMW sure did drop the ball when it came to installing a decent sound system in a 7 series.

Most all cars are that way. Unless you have a 30 year old Ford/Chevy and people just mount the speaker right to the outside of the door panel. lol
