The trouble with talking

- Talking is normal. It is seen as odd if you don’t talk. The trouble with talking is it separates us - we are inevitably talking about “my“ experience - yours and mine. In duality, this emphasises our separation. Talking imposes separation on the world that without us is not separate. Are the trees separate from the grass? Are the birds separate from the sky? When we stop talking, the world falls back to peace. In deeper communion, we find stillness.

I actually started crying when he said "meditation is about letting go...so what is to let go"..... I started to cry in silence cause I felt I had so much to let go ans it's there.... weighting on me. Thank tou John for those words. I'm goona put that in practice

Thank you John. I needed this lesson in stillness today. Around two years ago my television broke. I didn't replace it. Then I bought a small one last month and I find I can't stand the noise and chatter. I've only watched it three times. Good riddance.

The only purpose of talking, at least in groups, is establishing hierarchies and not information exchange.

Because we arent MEANT to agree to everything to be human. We each may live on the same rock, but we need not breath the same creeds. Unity can just as easily be found in disparity as it is in hegemony

Hi John,
As I read books from people like Jeanette Guyon (A short and Easy Method of Prayer) or Brother Lawrence (Practicing the Presence of God) they speak of periods of dryness. I understand this to mean that at times when they attempt to come into the presence of God, they are unsuccessful--at least unsuccessful in their perception--they are unable to perhaps feel God's presence. Obviously God is always present regardless if one perceives it or not. But they have these periods of dryness of being unable to perceive the presence of God through their method of coming into His presence.
In your method and practice of coming into the presence of Stillness (i.e. God). Do you ever have periods of dryness?
