- I recommend you call your Mercedes dealer to double check the part number first then you can buy from them or shop online and make sure the part numbers match. Here is an example of where to buy this push button to start your Mercedes:

If you don't have the button and want to Start The Engine with your key in your pocket, you just put your finger in there and as you put it there push the tooth inside and now you can just put your finger all the way and it will start. No need for Programming your finger.

If your car is a different model, you may have to get it programmed. I’m not 100% sure. I would look for a local MB repair shop nearby and call and ask. They may tell you on the phone or help you out inexpensively

Technically couldn’t someone break the glass on a car like this, hop in and put in that module and drive off? And skip the whole hot wire/popping the console and using an iPhone charger or whatever?
I don’t think that would work because you still need your actual key inside the car. The push button just allows you to start the car when the key is in your pocket.
