How to Resize 6.5 Creedmoor Brass: My Process

- My resizing process is very simple and straightforward…I like using a full length sizing die after I de-prime everything with a universal de-capping die prior to completing the resizing. Y’all have a good one!
I go through the same process, because of the Lapua 6mm brass I use. Except I just bought the smaller decapping pin from Lee. I tried one of those fancy thermal scopes once. No matter what I tried, I could not get a solid sight picture. Probably just me, because lots of people use them, but I couldn’t get lined up and comfortable behind it.
Enjoyed the video Alabama, a lot of good information in there. Hornady headspace comparator is a very helpful tool. Echo
Right. Without this tool you cant know the shoulder bump ---> case head separation after few firings. The brass also hardens even if annealed (on the body/head) ; so the only way to get consistent shoulder bump is to use this tool at each reloading session, check the measurment and adjust the die and its lock ring each time.
I got it to load on Rumble. It’s a little finicky, it has to be exact with caps and underscore but I got it. Probably a good idea to protect your channel. Might want to copy all your videos over to it. Never know what’s going to happen with YT.
Good video. I follow a similar process. The OCD in me made me want to sweep up the old primers. 😀
Hi ! I've a 6.5CM too, it's the less accurate of the bolt rifles that I own. The accuracy is not so good, not so bad but I expected better for this long range cartridge. For me it's way easier to find a good load with my 308 and 7-08.
Hey Bama. My Starline brass has that exact head stamp. I bought it from MidwayUSA. Sounds like we've been reloading about the same time. Pretty interesting. I make videos for the same reason. I learned a lot from watching RUclips videos, and I'm just trying to give back. If we stumble up on a process we like, I think we owe to our brothers to share that information. Thanks, Brother.
That’s good to know and yea I completely agree…if something works then we need to pass along the information!
Will we see you seat bullets? Do you lube necks before seating, do you seat to recommended coal or come off the lands so many thousands? Just trying to learn!
If you’re just starting out I would recommend using a COAL listed in a manual just to really nail down your processes and to get comfortable with reloading. Once you progress then I would start playing around with overall length.
Just use 2 blocks. Move each round after you fill them.
Good afternoon
Good afternoon brother! #literally
After you have sized a casing ,do you try it in your chamber so that your bolt closes ok ? If it doesn't close would you need to bump shoulder a little more
Correct…generally I try to go about .002” of shoulder “bump” but in this case I wanted to see if my existing setup would work and it did. It only pushed the shoulder .001” but I verified it in the rifle and it chambered just fine. If you can’t close the bolt then tighten your sizing die down just a smidge more and try again.
