When you combined music with fighting is an underrated mechanic.
It certainly helps that this game has such an amazing soundtrack.
@@DoctorBearJones Imagine if this game was more music focus like creating the songs we like by fighting.
As long as it could be implemented properly, otherwise I think my head would probably explode from how complex that would be...and amazing.

I would like to give the credit to Mick Gordon as he did the music initially, but he could have just been the one to implement it. I agree though, genius.
Damn shame it’s not in the official soundtrack!.. Cause I would love to listen to that for every Killer Instinct song.

I don't understand. Why are people making these comments. The UC jingles are tacky.
I understand that perhaps, it can serve as a reminder to help one tie the moveset with a specific place in the jingle. But frankly and imo and experience, I find it uneccessary and really offputting.

There's a fair amount of estrogen from the female cast members...even a couple of robots, just in case. But yes, this game is fantastically intense.
Can I get the feeling that ultra combos are basically each characters special finisher cuz I hear their own music in the back
They essentially are their own finishers. It just has a rhythmic composition to it. In general the majority of the music is fantastic in this game.
I think it depends on the music you pick cause another video had Rash do an ultra combo on Jago’s stage, but the beat was the same one used here

I like the variety of blood colors. There’s literally more blood colors in this than in MK9 and MK11, unless you also count sand and electricity, as well.
The standard red blood, Sabrewulf’s green blood, Gargos’s, Riptor’s, and Arbiter’s purple blood, Mira’s grey blood, and Hisako’s black blood.
Normally I get everyone complaining that there isn't any blood at all. It's nice to see someone actually paying attention to the finer details in this game :)
Amazing game with very interesting characters. Hisako, Cinder, Mira, Fulgore, Jago, Orchid, Sadira, Glacius, Omen, Arbiter, Thunder, Tusk are my faves
That is quite the list of favorites :D It is hard to have just a couple in this game, but glad to see you appreciate it to the fullest.
@@DoctorBearJones You're 100% right. It's hard to choose because this series includes really unique fighters. I adore Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat, SoulCalibur and Virtua Fighter because I can name like 10+ favourites in each franchise.
I am a fighting game fan myself. I never dived too far into SC except for two...mainly because of Link and Spawn and VF was always an arcade favorite.

Definitely a fan of General Raam, but I would have to say my favorites are Arbiter, Rash and Mira. At least as far as the new characters are concerned.

The game is still supported in some of the tournament scene, but as far as this iteration goes, I think it's a done deal. High hopes that there is a continuation or a new game for Scarlet...or whatever Microsoft ends up calling their next Xbox.

I do enjoy some death battle...except when my fighter of choice loses. It's still an interesting take on everything though.
I'm not into fighting games, but music going along with your hits, this is fucking genius.
Glad you are least like the musical aspect. Even though fighting games aren't your thing, I still recommend giving this one a try.

The best one I ever heard in the game
the double and triple ultras are super cool, but the singes may be my favorite. you play the cool part of your characters theme, and then end it with a big finishing move. nice and clean
absolutely incredible. came looking for the old fulgore 100+ uc and discovered... this game is still kicking years and years later!

I remember hitting my first ultra combo in this game and I was hyped as fuck. Nothing feels better than the first.

So basically Cinder is what happens when Deadpool and Ghost Rider get together and have a baby (or maybe it should be Gwenpool, but you get the idea)
More of a Human Torch Combo. Hisako is a Spirit though, so I guess I can see the Ghost Rider aspect of it.

Most of KI chars are taken/inspired for another sci fi/horror stories, only Sadira seems to be pretty much og.
This game has two Deadpools tho, Firepool and Frogpool.
Whoa I stopped playing at season 2 but damn so many cool characters now lol
Quite a few people dropped after Double Helix left even. This is still worth a play even today if you get the chance.

I do to, but always feel a little guilty letting the whole thing play out in a match. I normally cancel them out of politeness.

Now some characters I am good with,and then again, some characters I am not good using at all. I still need to try the others in this game But all in all, this game is the best one that I have played out of all three installments of this series.

@@DoctorBearJones Thanks! I'm getting the hang of linking the combos and extending them with the counter-breakers. At first, I didn't know what I was doing while I was playing, but at the same time, I was already doing some wicked combos as the numbers varied. Like I said before, I'm good at using Aria, as well as using Tusk, Sadira, and surprisingly, Hisako-the girl that everyone uses. But alas, I'm not good at using the likes of TJ Combo, Cinder, or Kim Wu. As for Kim Wu, what happened? I think they changed her combo pattern.
@@kalonjirivers8902 I played Kim Wu when she dropped, got all the achievements and moved on. So any update after that initial month or so, I couldn't tell you specifics. I have a difficult time with the more technical characters...but then again every character can be technical if you put in the time.

Personal favourite out of all the ultra combo themes, is Sadira's. Gargos had a pretty nice theme, but what I can only describe as the creeping death metal, of Sadira's wins out. Have to wonder what combining Sadira's and Mira's theme, would be like?

I definitely like Jago's more before they sped it up, but it is still a great one. With all the great character songs...it's a little difficult to have a favorite :D

Everyone got their fair share to showboat. Not to say I have had a problem with an arbiter too often, but a good one comes up every now and again.

My best friend in high school had an SNES in the mid 90s, and the original Killer Instinct had a release on that console. I wasn’t very good at the game overall, but I knew all of Fulgore’s combos. And for whatever reason, he couldn’t stop me with any of his characters. Not even when he played with Fulgore. He couldn’t break any of my combos on him. And I won each match every time until one day he got mad and never played KI with me ever again except at the mall or at Cici’s Pizza 😂 We were like brothers, but he just couldn’t handle that and couldn’t practice enough to beat me. Like, I didn’t even have the game - I only played it at his mom’s house 😂😂

Amazing how Jago passed from a athletic-pretty boy ninja (supernintendo), to a dark, soul-eater ninja hahahaha
I want to say the more rugged look helps. He was way too shiny, smooth and handsome to be this dark. It led to us getting two different characters though, so I am happy with that.
Jago's sounds the best to me. It actually has a rhythm that I can follow while everyone else's are kinda all over the place, but still I like all of them 👍

I didn't know that there were orchestrated melodies with every hit on most of the characters....
It's actually with all of the characters. Some of the Ultras were sped up from their initial length, so it's a bit trickier to hear it all.

You know I love this game growing up. And I couldn't figure out why newest version didn't do well. I suddenly get it
A brief look at the visual aesthetics of the game might not give the best representation of how well a game did, I do understand if it doesn't hit the nostalgia bone for people that played the originals. It is still worth a shot, if you ever want to give it a try.

It did eventually make the jump to PC. With Microsoft not pulling the numbers this console generation, it definitely didn't help. Seeing as it was a launch title, I feel you on it making it onto other platforms.

Fun fact if your character can recalt opponents you can do it after an ultra combo into another ultra combo. I managed to do it once with Mira

Fulgore's ultra on his stage is the best. Really wish someone made a video with just the music of Fulgore's ultra on his stage.
You're not the first one to watch for the music :) It's a good point though, there isn't really a place to listen to the Ultra part of the soundtrack.
@@DoctorBearJones Is there even a way to have just the Ultra music? I'm guessing that voices and sound effects can be turned off so that it's only the music. I don't really know since I have never played Killer Instinct.

Omen's ultra combo is a bit clunky sounding, but it makes sense for his character, apparently he's not used to having a corporeal body, hence his awkwardness.

He was a later addition, but having a clunky rhythm fits the character.
I like musical aspect of it alot, but it's not as "as the old combos were, there's those breaks that makes it easier for the noobs so that everyone can do it which I think is pretty cool.
I like that they have integrated the music to the ultra’s but I think if we were really being honest if they would’ve KEPT THE ULTRA FINISHERS FROM Killer instinct 1 to the CLASSIC CHARACTERS it would’ve been a whole lot better

The character designs are fantastic. I grew up with COTA so the MVC series will always hold a special place for me, but I definitely love fatalities.
