I love these podcasts and HOW they have helped me understand the old Testament. Having the Hebrew and Egyptian words and language explained has given me such clarity and enlightenment to the lessons and stories and history of the time period.
I am so grateful to Dr. Anthony Rivera. His podcast has been one of the very best and most enjoyable (as many of the teachers presented to us on Follow Him have been) it's difficult to pick a favorite for that reason, but in my learning this is one of the highest. I am endebted to Hank, John, and the show for the GREAT work they carry out.

I am grateful to Dr Rivera for his Hebrew understanding. It seems to me that the Old Testament is a whole new book because of the Hebrew language. I wish I could speak it! I'm also thankful for being reminded of how these chapters remind us of the beginnings of the Bible. ♥️

I love how this podcast went in order of the scriptures. I find it hard to follow at times when guests jump from one chapter to the next. I absolutely love this podcast, and this guest. So much power in reading the Hebrew and understanding the true meaning of the scriptures when the meaning and context has been lost in translation.

This was one of my all time favorite episodes. I really enjoyed reading along as you actually read the verses. I had so many spiritual impressions as I learned about the Hebrew. As a daughter of God, I felt valued and remembered. Thank you!!!

Wow, one of my favorite Follow Him episodes. Please have Brother Rivera back as a guest. I enjoyed the references to the creation and the garden. Best part: the battle between the gods, the so-called god and the true Son of God! Pharaoh doesn't even get named. mic-drop.

This lesson was extraordinarily powerful, so enlightening, so instructive. Yes, I have experienced that only God knew when my time had come when I was ready to embrace and follow Him with all my heart. He had prepared me and with the heart of a Father extended His Hand to me. That is now 41 years ago and His word continues to captivate and enrich me. Thank you brothers. Greetings from Belgium

I would have said that the percentage chance of me discovering that my favorite thing to do in my spare time is learn about the Old Testament was 0%.
    But here we are!
Thank you for consistently choosing to represent minority scholars who have so much insight. I am truly feasting on these podcasts.

Oh my goodness, I one hundred percent echo all of the wonderful previous comments. LOVED IT!
One question: my favorite part of these podcasts is at the end, when you ask them to share a little of their backgrounds and feelings (which thankfully, always ends up with their testimonies). I missed that this time, and also in the one with Lily Anderson. You must have run out of time, but I would appreciate it if somehow you could save enough time at the end for this. Thank you, thank you for how you have revolutionized my scripture study!🥰

This was such an amazing podcast!! I really hope Brother Rivera comes back this year as we continue to study the Old Testament. I did start to wonder though, when the Hebrew name of Jesus was mentioned it sounds a lot like the name Joshua. But then they go into the Hebrew word for Isaiah (which is super cool btw). I looked up Joshua in the Bible dictionary and the first thing it says is “God is help.” But I’ve also heard from others that Joshua also means “God is deliverance” or “God is salvation.” So with that, do the names Joshua and Isaiah mean the same in Hebrew? Or does Joshua mean something totally different? Hope this makes sense. I appreciate any insight from anyone :)

Is there any thing in the Book of Mormon story of Ammon saving the sheep and consequently the servants of King Lamoni, and he too being away when the story is told to Lamoni?

    • @susanhicken6998
      @susanhicken6998 2 года назад

You can read that story starting with Alma 17:24 through Alma 18:10

That is similar to this story of Moses saving the flocks of the daughters of Midian? going back to the Moses meaing "Son of ?" That is also related to the community belief that no one knew Jesus' father.

Love your program. My wife and I are avid viewers. However, with such great emphasis on names I wonder why the name of he to whom Abraham paid tithes, and after whom the priesthood is called with reverence in all the scriptures is spoken ( I think) incorrectly by almost everyone except the general authorities. Surely the name of the great high priest Melchizedek should not be misspoken or irreverently referred to as Melchezedik.

I can't find where Moses had a son named Eleazar. It says in Exo. 4:20 that he had more than one son, and it says in Exo. 6:24 that Aaron had a son named Eleazar. But I don't see more than Gershom as a named son of Moses. What am I missing?

I have always wondered about Jethro Moses father in law. If he is a son of Abraham from his third wife and has the true priesthood how is he not An Israelite . I thought any member of the church was an Israelite??And how old is he ? How can he still.Be alive after the 400 years of captive in Egypt . After Abraham and Issac both died ?? How old is he ? Or did one of Abrahams third wives sons have a son which was Jethro ? Any help with this . One scholar said that Abrahams third wife was actually Ishmael mother who Abraham married back or took back and her name was changed . If you could explain more about his age who he was . Thank you if you see this and can answer .

Thank you Linda. I am so glad you enjoyed. So much more ahead. You have great questions that deserve answers. I wish we had more time to address everything on the podcast. This is why I created other ways for your to get these kind of questions answered.
In short, Jethro and Moses meet after the House of Israel was in Egypt for about 400 years. Also Jethro is a descendant of Abraham's son Midian, many years later. Jethro was probably an older man when he first meets Moses, maybe in his 70s or 80s, the Bible text does not say.
