Always great to see a class stayer with that turn of foot - counts for even more to do it in that ground and this was probably a career high. Even when Stradivarius isn't at the top of his game he can still win G1s fairly easily but this was another level of brilliance.
Give the horse the rating he deserves now? Best stayer I’ve ever seen and that includes yeats that turn of foot was fucking electric for a stayer I have no doubt he’ll turn up next year and win again
Stravidarius to win 4th Gold Cup 2021, it has been done before and surely! the way he cruises to emphatic win his 3rd Gold Cup, in my opinion 4th Gold Cup is on the card!
Not taking anything away from his other 2 wins in the Ascot Gold Cup, but 2018 was in my opinion his best win because the competition was the strongest. After about 3 or 4 seasons of dodging each other as (at that time) the 2 best stayers in the sport, Vazirabad and Order of St George finally decided they'd knock heads finally. But it turned out to be the final race for both and the only time they'd ever go head to head. But both ended up playing 2nd fiddle that day to the upstart, John Gosden trained 4YO, and that's pretty much the same day the mantle as the best stayer in the sport passed to him.

@wnnalis cioov He's already beaten Order of St George, Big Orange and Vizirabad so it's not like he's not beaten rubbish easily in the past. He's a better stayer than Kew Gardens.
@@johnwalsh3215 I know. Relevant to people too. For four years, five-foot tall me was one of the top woman road runners in the U.S.. I could run past the tall, lanky runners. I have strong legs and thighs, bellows for lungs, efficient circulatory system, and had an efficient running style since I studied the martial arts before taking up running, and learned to move with my hips level, so I didn't run bobbing up and down. I am even built big-boned, and more like a little human "Quarter-horsey" type body, everything you would think would be a disadvantage for a mid-to-long-distance runner. I just did not have the fast-twitch muscle fibers to get fast sprint times but could throw in a nice turn of foot at the end of a 5K or 10K. Still, my best 10K and marathon times were pretty good for a person with nearly 98% slow-twitch muscle fibers. 42:41 and 3:21.24 respectively. The person who "discovered" my running ability is the late Alfred Ortaloni who was the athletic director of the Pittsburg State University athletic teams. He was the athletic trainer of our Olympic team that went to Tokyo some years ago, I think the same year Billy Mills won the 10K final at the Olympics in Tokyo. Ortolani's students kindly showed me how to tape my foot for plantar fasciitis until I could get proper orthotics for that common runners' malady. I feel very honored to have known Al Ortolani.

Amazing performance , what a horse , can't believe how easy he was travelling 2f out. Would love to see him in the Arc de triomphe he would have a good chance .... Credit to Nayef Road aswell - take stradavarius out the race and Nayef would have won by 6lengths or so.

His trainer Gosden said he thought at one stage Dettori had Stradivarius out of his ground, so did I, I thought he's too far back, is that too much ground to make up? How wrong can you be? He's a notably smaller horse than his opposition, but what a motor he must have to demolish them like this. He's the little giant of stayers. When his flat days are over, I wonder if they'll try him over the jumps like they did with Sea Pigeon. If he jumps I reckon he could even win the Champion Hurdle. In the meantime I hope we see him come back next year to prove he's even better and than Yeats or Sagaro.
Yeats won 4 Gold Cups yet didn't run up to this form when he came over for the cup. He couldn't carry the weight and neither will this horse - probably get 58 kgs plus? In other words, the Cup will be too good for him.
Arsenal0782, British horses cannot carry the weight to justify their bloated ratings. The race has been won by much better runners than Stradivarius. If he gets an impost of 58 kgs plus he will end up like Foinavon at the top of the Flemington straight!
